It's hard to find anyone as skilled as Frostball on **multiple** classes. That doesn't mean rev is in a good spot. As others said for the outcome he offers in 1v1 and teamfights, there are more secure options, who are with player-friendly rotations. Means if you mess up a rota, the class can recover/survive/sustain etc. If you mess up with rev, you are most certainly dead. It's annoying how much more revenants rely on blocks, dodges, disengages, evades and environment usage to survive as a heavy class than any other class in the game. The class itself has no identity - not really a tank, not really a dps, can to some extend move around and has 2 defensive/utility legendaries, which don't even really function better in that department than herald.

Revenant just requires way more knowledge, skill and constant concentration to give a somewhat decent contribution, by which point people are asking themselves why even bother?

The problem with Rev is that interms of what the Shiro Herald variant is and can do, it's basically a much weaker Core Guardian / Dragon Hunter in terms of capabilities. It has no unique niche of it's own to justify bringing one over that. You can be a revenant and be good enough to get top 250, but if you can do that you would be significantly better off applying that skill towards playing a Guardian or Dragon Hunter.

rev has better mobility and can +1 much quicker than both of those. Time is everything in a gw2 match, the quicker you get those kills, the quicker you can rotate around the map to make more plays. The damage isn't as great as core guardian, but offhand sword still deals decent bursty damage. Also, very good class for cleaving and securing kills

But rev is not a good +1er. The best revenant build right now is a build that galavants between the team fights and skirmishing, exactly like Power Guardians. And mobility just isn't anywhere near important for that role as the immense cleanse potential, blocks, invulns, and healing that a Guardian/Dragon Hunter provide.

Totally agree. He's so talented I actually thought the meta had shifted for the first few minutes watching him. After awhile and listening to him narrate the game play the weaknesses were pretty obvious. He was even saying stuff like "I can't let myself get hit at all." he was still wasting people 1v1. lol

Thankfully this isn't some retarded-game where class-choice is the only factor that matters. If you don't play a class well; stay away from it. Stick with what you perform well on. If you are getting stomped when you play a specific class; the issue is you, not the class.
