Sargoth.8104
My lvl 80 warrior has a number of named exotic hammers that have dropped (Onus, The Punisher, Black Fleet Bludgeon), and all stat condition damage. Condition damage increases the damage of conditions that do damage, like bleeding, poison, burning, fear (with a trait or boon), and torment. Of the classes that can use hammers, not one applies _damaging _ conditions with a hammer. For example, a warrior deals knockdown, knockback, cripple, daze and stun, none of which do damage. So back to my Q: why are hammers statted with condition damage if no one can deal damaging conditions with them? Is there an elite that can make use of that? It just seems a shame to sell these very rare drops (and prices are decent in the TP), but unless I'm very much mistaken they are essentially two-stat weapons with a wasted stat slot. Are they selling well for the skins? Or am I missing something?
Khisanth.2948
Those things are bought for their skins. The stats are mostly irrelevant. Black Fleet Bludgeon also has a Superior Sigil of Force.
DeanBB.4268
Guardians burn, plus sigils, traits and skills could all add conditions to an attack. But still, not too useful.

But still, not too useful. I didn't see Guardians applying burning with a hammer in the wiki, and forgot about virtue attacks. I had thought about adding a Sigil of Fire or Air or something like that, but like you said not very useful. Rather have a stat that would come into play more often than 50% of the time on crit. I guess Anet felt compelled to cover all the stat combos for every weapon regardless of usefulness.

I guess Anet felt compelled to cover all the stat combos for every weapon regardless of usefulness. It is not just as simple as equipping a hammer, there are also traits involved. For eample https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Permeating_Wrath https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Symbolic_Power https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Writ_of_Persistence Permeating Wrath and Writ of Persistence doesn't directly apply burning but they lower the hit count to trigger justice and help increase the hit rate to trigger justice. That is also one of the worst traits in the game. Don't do it, lol.

I rarely play Warrior. It is really sad, honestly. The Hammer is a purely Power-based CC weapon so adding Conditions to it like that is awful, not to mention that the two other Strength Grandmaster traits are some of the better ones available to Warrior, further cementing M. Hammer into obscurity...
Loosmaster.8263
99.9% of all gear/weapon drops have condi damage as a stat. It's all Scarlett Briars fault!!!
Khisanth.2948
Merciless Hammer is especially bad because it applies Confusion via CC. That means it cripples its own damage since Confusion deals more damage to things performing actions but the CCs prevent/interrupt those actions. It is even worse than I could've possibly imagined!
