Guild Wars 2 : Stuck In Combat

Am I the only one constantly getting frustrated by the piss poor stuck in combat system? I will have no enemies attacking me yet somehow, for some reason, I can't WP because I am "in combat". What does the game even consider "in combat"?

You're likely wounded and within range of an enemy when you encounter this. Try to move further from the enemies or heal up to allow the waypoint to work. Alternately, try logging out and back in.

Another factor may be if you have a minion. My reaper gets combat stuck until I realize her minion is way over there bashing something and I kill the minion. Or you did something that minorly tagged a mob, the mob hasn't tethered or died, and until someone else (or you) kills the thing you dinged you're stuck.

 

But yeah, you can get stuck for quite a while and very infrequently it is a bug rather than unshed aggro.

Ranger pets can get you stuck in combat if a mob is targeting them, even if the pet is standing beside you. If your char is a Ranger try swapping pets.

I just love when they go in combat for no reason even if nothing is nearby me D;

White critters (rabbits and flies) can get aggressive if hit with non-damaging abilities such as ranger's muddy terrain. They usually have no attack skills, so they just look innocent while actually being in combat with you.

When I encounter this, 90% of the time it's because in fighting mobs my AoE or cleave hit a destructible object, but I did not destroy it. The other 10% is a mystery to me.

I was on my weaver, health was 100%, the mobs around me weren't attacking me. Wasn't running any elemental skill either

Did you have any conditions on you? Even those that don't damage you, like weakness, vulnerability, or blind, will keep you in combat until they run out or you actively clear them.

This drives me crazy at times. Sometimes it's down to my necro minions or ranger pet but sometimes I truly can't pinpoint what's keeping me stuck. Especially annoying in group content.

Sometimes an enemy bugs out and doesn't drop aggro until u relog, leave map or find it and kill it. It is rare, but I imagine it is prob very hard to reproduce for a bug fix

Hit 'Z' a few times, that has fixed it for me. Stow your weapons if they aren't already.

I had this on my mesmer. Nothing happening but I was stuck in combat. Couldn't mount up and missed a bounty.

Funny, because that's what I said in the "game's too difficult for me" thread yesterday, as it seems, I am not alone.

Mordem also love to do it even though they stand on a totally different level (z-axis related).

The solution, like everything else in this game, is just to kill everything around. More loot, more exp, lots of achievements tied to it. Theres almost never a reason to not becoming a walking genocide machine.
