I'm going to go ahead and assume that players will need to have https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gift_of_Draconic_Mastery for a crafting component... Which requires...

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gift_of_Bloodstone_Magic

-250 https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Blood_Ruby

-250 https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Jade_Shard

-250 https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Orrian_Pearl

and

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gift_of_Dragon_Magic

-250 https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Petrified_Wood

-250 https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fresh_Winterberry

-250 https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fire_Orchid_Blossom

Suggestion starts below...

I can honestly say that the most frustrating, and boring as all get out, part of the requirements for https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Aurora was going on node runs to collect the zone currency, except in Bitterfrost Frontier. I understand that ascended trinkets cost more in Bitterfrost Frontier to make up for the improved drop rates of Fresh Winterberries, but the drop rate from nodes in other zones is abysmal by comparison... I am not going to go through each zone and compare drop rates, but I just ran through Ember Bay and came back with a total of 8 Petrified Wood. Bitterfrost Frontier net me a total of 50 Fresh Winterberries.

I am perfectly fine with needing these items to craft a legendary trinket. However, I do feel that the drop rates when gathering are way way way too low in most new zones. I can see myself running through Bitterfrost Frontier, and any new zone, 5 times over to get the 250, but we are being asked a lot in order to gather up 250 of each with these low drop rates... So I would like to suggest that the team kind of normalize zone gathering drop rates into the 50 range, and adjust the ascended gear costs upward to match those found in Bitterfrost Frontier.

Thank you for reading this suggestion! Have a great one!

Edit- These zone currencies are also available through https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/WvW_Reward_Track. Perhaps the team could look into making some allotment adjustments for zone currency reward boxes given the normal time it takes to complete a reward track...

"The minimum time for completing a reward track (without boosters) is 8h 35m (103 ticks), where 195 points are earned per tick. The overall minimal time to complete a reward track is 4h 20m (52 ticks), where all available boosters increases the points per tick from 195 to 390. "

*Also, for full info on the subject, https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Potion_of_WvW_Rewards can be used to earn zone currency, but it requires " 80 Potion of WvW Rewards to complete a WvW Reward Track instantly.". These potions are obtained from https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Transcendent_Chest_(exotic) and these https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Transcendent_Chest_(rare).

-50 Bloodstone Rubies from https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Blood_Ruby_Strongbox

-50 Petrified Wood from https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sack_of_Petrified_Wood

-100 Fresh Winterberries from https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Winterberry_Strongbox

-100 Jade Shards from https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Jade_Shard_Strongbox

-50 Fire Orchids from https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fire_Orchid_Strongbox

-50 Orrian Perasl from https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Orrian_Pearl_Strongbox

-250 Kralkatite Ore from https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sack_of_Kralkatite_Ore

-50 Difluorite Crystals https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sack_of_Difluorite_Crystals

-50 Inscribed Shards from https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Kournan_Cache

So in order to get 250 of each zone currency only using reward tracks you would need to consume 400 wvw potions for the 50 boxes, and 240 for the 100 boxes... The total required would be 2,080 wvw potions...

The Gift of Draconic Mastery is “A gift used to create legendary jewelry.”

The key word above being “jewelry”. Amulets, accessories and rings fall under jewelry, so that’s my concern and what I’m going by.

I obviously don’t know if this specific gift will be used, but I’d rather bring this stuff up now if the devs decide to have this gift as a component. That’s all.

Aurora did catch some people by surprise but at the same time caused for a revitalisation of the Living World Season 3 maps.

The daily cap on resources is mandatory since the easy availability of trinkets would otherwise be even more broken (and the conversion into resources).

The very likely 250 map specific resources also make certain upgrades more valuable like the home instance nodes (which function as a gold drain) and since unbound magic and volatile magic both can be used to acquire materials, the trade of those causes even more gold drain via the trading post. It's a huge system while grindy requires these daily lockouts. Obviously Arenanet wants people to do hearts in some of the living world season 4 maps, others like Istan are just huge farms.

It basically boils down to: how long should gathering the materials for a legendary trinket take and how much of this can be upfront completed?

People who diligently daily gather their home instance (and who did invest into getting the costly nodes) obviously will have no problem having 250 of each map currency ready should they be required. Others can farm them over the course of less than 1 week. Boring and tedious? Sure, but absolutely preventable with some basic preparation.

**TL;DR: if you are afraid of having to farm map specific currencies, get the home instance nodes and gather them daily and save the resources. A good advice for Living World Season 3 too since it allows immediate access at will to ascended trinkets.**

I doubt you can derive anything from Aurora. Aurora was the legendary trinket tied to open world and especially the LS3 maps. The ring will be tied to the PoF raid(s) like legendary armor was tied to the HoT raids. I doubt the ring will need anything from LS3 or HoT because it's technically possible, that players don't have HoT or the LS3 but still are able to get the ring because it's only tied to PoF content(W5).

When thinking about what might be the requirements for the ring I think about the armor more, so I guess we will need some legendary insights and something similar to the provisioner tokens along the usual mat sink.

When PoF came out, they added Gift of Desert Mastery so that you can complete Gen 2.1 Legendaries with either HoT or PoF map completion. They could just as easily add an LS4 recipe for Gift of Draconic Mastery, so that players have a choice whether they want to farm LS3 or LS4 map currencies.

I am in for legendary trinkets (rings/amu/acces) which are obtained OUTSIDE of the raid environment.

Come on ANet - you have made Legendary armor and put it exclusively in the raids, few months after you have introduced them in the WvW/PvP game modes which is ok and very necessary as different content / builds require different equipment and legendary items make it easy to swap from condi to power or heal or whatever else you want.

You understand and you said it yourself that raids aren't for everyone, which is ok - different players like to do different things in the game. But every player should benefit from the option to change its gear stats at will, to benefit from the legendary items mechanic. Considering the toxic environment in the raids even very good players are avoiding this mode. Why would they do something that leads to enormous emotional stress caused by this? Also, I can argue that this mode is P2W because of this. You said last few weeks that players charging other players with ingame gold to complete raid wings for them is ok to you. Considering you buy gold with gems it is pretty obvious that this is going in a wrong direction IMO, because the legendary things in the game along with the fashion is the true end game. However, the legendary items have more practical use than the style wardrobe options.

With that said, ANet, please introduce alternatives to obtain legendary items and don't lock them behind raids.
