How much of ANET's development resource is budgeted towards the WvW / mist war game mode?

Problem is that we had a few guys who apparently once brainstormed on how to improve WvW. This was years ago before the condi meta, when we had glorious large scale fights that was way better than anything you see today (yeah really, check youtube). And all they could think of was CC. And when that didn't work they added even more CC, maps with pve mechanics and so on and so on.

 

They don't actively play wvw in large groups themselves. They do not raid. They dont stand in a tower trying to defend it at 3am with an ac against a nightcapping blob. They dont tag up trying to get more than 10 ppl to join TS/Discord even though it's a 50 man que.

 

They just don't know how it it is played beyond roamers and 5 man camp capping groups on dead servers.

MO also gave us accurate stats on WvW participation, 12% play WvW only. Mixed participation is near a third.

Just going by the WvW-only crowd we should have 20 wvw devs

Easily less than 1%.

 

WvW is a side project for maybe 1 to 2 guys that they fiddle with when they don't have anything else on their plate.

 

Realistically, nothing beyond the actual budgetary impact of the physical WvW servers is really allocated for WvW specifically.

 

It's why we see so little action on otherwise glaringly obvious issues.

It isn't that hard to figure out. I don't understand the point of this thread!

 

1. Check out their WvW streams on Thursdays.

2. Count the devs claiming to be on the "Competitive Team"

3. Profit!

Well tbf WvW does not need major updates, just some balance changes, mostly numbers.

 

Its just in PvE they can add a map that works differently so people can just go back to the old maps if they don't like it. WvW is different.

 

Id still like them to remove gliding but overall they have been doing great work. Balancing could be faster tho, 14 months to nerf concec sigil that made firebrands uberbroken.
