Some response would be nice because i cannot play for more that 10 minutes without a crash. I have removed all of my addons (taco/radial mount menu etc).

 

Still crashing and unplayable. At this rate i'll just quit the game to be honest, nothing is ever done about this issue and it has persisted for years across multiple threads.

Regarding my issue - Random crashes like every 2, 5, 10, 30min. I was able to resolve it on my own and I would like to share it with you. So far I haven't encountered any black screens (or any sudden crashes/interruptions/any sort of errors anymore playing more than 2-hours. (using windows 10 64-bit)

 

Here is what I did:

1.) I made a backup of the entire "Guild Wars 2" game folder (if possible never delete your backup if something goes wrong)

2.) I uninstalled the game completely & deleted all files/subfolder found in users/myusername/appdata/roaming/Guild wars2 the main folder

3.) completely uninstalled the game & if possible defrag & reboot

4.) Made a fresh installation using Gw2Setup-64 (pause downloading in the GW2 login launcher)

5.) overwrite the files from your gw2 backup to your new installation but exclude "bin64" folder

(or just delete the bin64 folder as it will create its own when game launches)

under guild wars 2 folder, you should see at least 5 files & 1 folder (in my case)

6.) Make a new separate shorcut & add to your properties - target: ["...your_path\Gw2-64.exe" -repair]

7.) Run the repair (shortcut until it finishes)

8.) Run the game as usual... Goodluck!

Note: I did not install any MODs yet, to check game's stability.

 

Hopefully, this will help some of you guys out there. Just sharing my experience. Cheers!

1. Remove ArcDPS or any 3rd party addons, if present, (Taco makers, radial mounts menu etc)

2. Check your disk for errors using Chkdsk.

3. Check your memory for stability, using Windows Memory Diagnostic or Memtest86+

4. Check your graphics card for stability, using FurMark or 3DMark FireStrike.

5. If all else fails: Remove and re-install the game

6. Still nothing: Open a support ticket

7. Still nothing: I feel sorry for you but cannot think of anything else. Start crying. Get another game or another PC.

Very unlikely to be systems being at fault if it is more common. More like to be drivers or win10 update. Anyone else update to 1908 win10 or latest Nvidia drivers? I have had a few crashes and I can say with all certainty (after actually doing the generic tests) my system is fine. 2700x/1080ti/3200mhz c14.

I fixed my problem, i downloaded driver easy and updated all my drivers. That fixed my game from crashing, so i do think it was something with windows 10 newest update or nvidia's newest update because the crashes happened after i updated those 2 things. Make sure all your drivers are up to date!

I updated my drivers just yesterday to try fixing this problem, but it's still losing its connection to the server even when my WiFi is at good strength. I'll see if there are any further updates that my laptop's been hiding. Good to hear that I'm not alone in this...

I hear people constantly complaining about it, and it happens to me several times a day. It just freezes... then poof desktop, no crash log, nothing.

 

System is fully (and properly) up-to-date, drivers all up-to-date. Faulty windows updates blocked. (Windows updates nothing without my explicit permissions. Microcrap is proffesionally locked out on my box... 100% tight

 

I hear people constantly complain in mapchat with similar problems. I hear people constanty crash out in a similar way in discord on wvw comms...

 

What troubles me most... it started after tuesday's update on July the 2nd for me... and nothing from Anet... Nothing.

 

This did NOT start after a windows update, a driver update or any other update on my machine except the gw2 client update.

 

Therefor logic dictates the problem lies with the client software. More than a week later, and this topic has no Anet responce... Fix it will ya? It ain't rocket science.

Same here. Short freeze, crash to desktop. Completely random. No crash log update. RAM is ok according to memtest. NVidia Graphics driver is updated to the latest version. Game files are repaired. I deleted the game cache, checked temperatures of GPU, CPU core and case - everything ok. No new software installed. Not using any addons (like arcdps) anymore. No problems with ANY other software or game. Just GW 2 crashing. Same happens with some guild mates of mine, complaints about this very issue are in various map chats. Happens across all maps. Anet: Fix this please. We all put up with the - friendly speaking - poor performance of this otherwise good game, but this crash fest reminds me of early Skyrim days.

Same exact issue. Pulled all the logs and opened a ticket over 24hrs ago, no word. Not sure what the norm is, maybe im spoiled form other unnamed games but it seems like I should have heard back with a fix by now.

for me what worked was to switch my memory to alternative slots. the memory was not being read properly. So either a mobo issue or a memory issue

I've upgraded my BIOS and chipset drivers to the latest versions. Was just a wild stab in the dark, but it **seemed** to have helped. My former BIOS was just 3 months old. The chipset drivers were slightly older. How can that be? Not one piece of software giving me troubnle, neither did the hardware, but just that one game crashed? One community member mentioned a Microsoft update (kb4346084) being responsible in his case for the ctds:

This microcode update addresses the Sceptre exploit for mainly Intel CPUs, but Microsoft installs it anyway even if you are on an AMD rig. In the following weeks multiple follow-up updates from MS addressing the same exploit followed - perhaps those contributed to the exacerbation of the game crash issue? Anyway, reading about these MS updates made me look for a new BIOS / new chipset drivers. Which **seemed** to fix the issue. I'll keep you updated in case you're interested.

 

Perhaps those of you guys who are on a Ryzen sytem should try that as well.
