Big events and event chains in PoF

I love big event chains, like the ones in Orr and in HoT. The ones in HoT are very good eventhough I wasnt so much thrilled by the strict Schedule and timers. I was looking forward to new ones in PoF but they are not so easy to find and the maps feels emtpy. There are Bounty trains ofc, but that is not what Im looking for, they are easily accessible on at least the first couple of maps.

 

Since GW2timers.com still havent been updated with PoF events I was wondering if anyone knew more about big event chains in the new maps and if there is some other site that covers timers or shows the new maps and their events?

 

Read something in mapchat the other day that had me doubt there even are big event chains going on...but I dont know. Found a bigger event in Desolation, escorting shadow agents to break down some gates, but we were too few to get very far.

1. Crystal Oasis - Casino Blitz (3 rounds of coin gathering and Legendary Pinata Choya boss that may drop confetti infusion)

 

2. Desert Highlands - Treasure hunting (I have yet to see a reason to play it)

 

3. Elona Riverlands - The Crazed Doppelganger (after Path of Ascension ends, standard rewards, hidden achiev for killing your clone)

 

4. The Desolation - Maw of Torment (needed for collection, rewards lucklaster, event chain of escort, press F, legendary boss)

 

5. Domain of Vabbi - Serpent's Ire (needed for collection, overtuned, after consider waypoint fees I'm not sure you get anything after completing it, never seen this completed).

for some people it's only a meta event, if you have to wait on a timer to start, a lot of juvenile chatter in chat, expecialy from some teen commanders and a load of chests to loot afterwards for the greens and blues

They do but they are not good meta events. They lack scope like Orr or HoT meta events, they are too short and don't have unique mechanics or bosses.

Heck even Core tyria outside Orr had some rather large event chains, like the events to take the Infinity Coil in Mount Maelstrom, that are lacking in rewards but they do tell a story far better than the PoF meta events

6. Log off - The Return to the game in 3 months "If" they add real content event.

Now I am not sure if by "Map wide metas" they mean dragon stand type or chak garnet type - in both cases the meta is spread across the whole map or big part of it but in the 1st case it locks map progression until a specific mini event is done and in the 2nd case it doesn't lock anything.

 

Personally, I love the Chak Garnet with all its pre-meta events.

They answered players' complaints about HoT being on timer. One thing I can consider relevant here is they made it too much like core tyria. And please, don't bring orr events as example because PoF events are exactly like orr. What they lack is incentive to do. I have yet to see succesful Serpent's Ire and I am afraid I will never unlock the last piece of funerary armor. The more players luck out on completing this meta, the less players are there looking for playing it at all.

 

I have the feeling they have some big metas planned for future releases. Also, Halloween is right around the corner.

Orr Temple events not the random Orr events. There is nothing like the Orr Temples in PoF, big event chains that tell a story where you progress towards a certain goal and fight a big boss in the end. There is none of that in PoF, all the "meta" events are short mini events and not actual chains.

The Serpent's Ire is 5 mobs spawning around a map and you go and kill them within a time limit. Then you go and fight a bigger boss.

Maws of Torment is 3 really small lanes leading to one big boss in the end.

Compare these with Vinewrath in Silverwastes, or cleansing the Temples of Orr (especially Balthazar and Grenth)

 

The Path to Ascension is the only actual meta event in Path of Fire that has clear steps and some form of story and progression. The others are like common events with nothing exciting or unique about them.

They are exactly like orr events. Escort, mob farming, boss, mediocre loot.

Especially that casino blitz suddenly gotten a population boost purely because of one rare item drop, I don't see how anyone can say there's no content when you don't even know if other metas have them. Everyone is ignoring most events before even knowing if they provide anything.

 

Other metas other than the obvious ones:

Buried treasure meta

Junundu Rising

 

There's some more locations that for me would need some more investigating too.

you like the events, i dont

they should had kept them on seperate maps IMO

nothing breaks immersion more , than the huge dragon thing in frostgorge

IRL , you couldnt even come close to it, due to the enormous wind from its wings

shame that they had to ruin the world with something like this

For me personaly it´s still a big difference if an event gives decent loot + the possibility of a super rare item (chack gerent) or there is ONLY the possibility of a super rare item. (Casino Blitz)

And even if the other Metas provide such 1 in a Million drop, i won´t to them because they are lacking in basic rewards. time better spent on ektogambling.

Dragon's stand is what happens when you make an entire map meta only.

 

AKA it's a horrible idea.

 

PoF metas are at a really good spot, in my opinion. They don't block you off of core exploration or even most exploration and they are interesting. That's not including the rewards, which as many people have pointed out, requires a lot of tuning.

Aside from the Funerary collection item, there's little reason currently to repeat it in regards to rewards. It also scales very badly. I've done it 3 times with 2 successes, but I don't feel any compulsion to do it again until they review rewards from the event as I'll get more from doing HoT metas. It's an interesting event, but it needs to be looked at or it'll end up being a dead event very quickly.

I would be fine with a few bigger metas in the future which requires some coordination. But not the map wide meta event overdose like in Hot. Too much on a clock, and too long for my taste. That is what drove many players away from guildwars, and they learned from that. Base content should be casual/solo friendly, doable within a normal time.

I had successfully led a Serpents Ire days ago. The event occurs every 90 minutes at a fixed time and is on the Wiki, so it's pretty much like the events at HoT. I suggest setting up a squad at least 30 minutes before. The event needs CC spam at certain stages without it going to fail.

I liked alternative farms to the Silverwastes, and before the PoF I alternated between the HoT meta, but it's the right recipe for burnout. I alternated between AB meta-TD meta, or AB-VB, or AB-DS, i farmed my Grypon gold from scratch with HoT metas.

 

With fewer people making the HoT meta, many of HoT's unique materials prices were as attractive as the Black Diamond. What can ruin it is the dumb-head in these forums asking Anet to change HoT's meta to suit a small population, which will lead to nerf on materials ofc.

 

From what I observed in the PoF, the "farm" is you to switch between Bounty Hunts and the mini-events/meta events on the map.

 

For those who do not like this, thank the baby-criers on these forums who spent the year flooding the HoT forum against meta-events.
