Ok, a small hope for the mac players

I tried also like Lord Warfin said, with low texture, everything in low image quality. I didn't crash with this, I tried during 2 hours, in PVP too (3 times) . Probably the good way for the moment but we are waiting a patch for solve this problem;

From the e-mails I'm getting it seems they are convinced it has to be a hardware problem on my end...even with tons of other people having the same issue, after the same update. I finally gave up and tried doing a clean reinstall and now I can't even download the game without the installer locking up at about 35%. They seriously need to get their crap together. Every other game I play is running fine, the problem isn't on my end.

I don't think it is a hardware problem up until recently I have played GW2 continuously without problems after the last release it is crashing every time I load or do an event At first I thought it was something to do with the Mac OS X 10.15.2 update (a lot of users have this version) but at least one person seems to have a problem with previous a previous version of Mac OS X.

Here's an error log which suggests it is not loading a file with constants - this produces a segmentation fault because the memory has not been allocated for the data:

I wasn't getting the Segmentation Fault. Mine was an Index out of Bounds exception. However, the same suggestion of downgrading a bunch of the graphics options seems to have solved my issue. I took "Medium" on most things - did NOT have to go all the way down to "Low" except on things that had no Medium option (think there was only one that didn't have a Medium option). Saw in a different post (which I can't find again) that some of the Mac high-res files in the Wintersday update were corrupted. So, hopefully, they will either have a high-res fix, or the issue will "self-heal" when Wintersday ends...

I switch textures, shadows and shaders to Medium left Postprocessing on High. It seems to work - at least I played for an hour and no crashes.

[External link to settings screenshot](https://postimg.cc/mhTxv8xh)

Looks like the segmentation fault happens after an error of the following top which suggests index out of bounds.

**First This:**

*--> Crash <--*

Assertion: index < m_count

File '0x0': Shader constant 0x35037a3d ("ppgobo") has not been set.

...

**Then when you reenter GW2:**

*--> Crash <--*

Signal: Segmentation fault: 11 (addr=0x0000000000001794)

When I repair the client, I get this in the terminal after it restarts the macOS client:

Is the client trying to get notifications from somewhere that doesn't exist?

Same issue here. Mac Pro (late 2013), 3.5GHZ 6-Core Intel Xeon E5, 16GB DDR3, AMD FirePro D300 2GB, MacOs 10.15.2

**Resolved by dropping graphics down to low, then manually upping a few things to medium.**

Sometimes when they start saying 'it is a hardware issue,' it means they have started dropping support for older graphics cards.

The problem persists on my iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015). The only way to stop it from crashing is to set graphics to "max performance" which turns everything off. Using "Auto Detect" on graphics causes the crash randomly. This is a poor work around and it is certainly not due to outdated graphics card. (AMD Radeon R9 M395 2 GB)

I hope they identify and fix the problem soon.

I have an iMac Pro and I’m still having problems. Pretty sure the graphics card is new enough that it can handle what GW2 dishes. Looks to me like the game is calling for stuff in locations that don’t exist. Probably a typo in the file name string somewhere.

Hi all, I have a message from James Fulop:

Hey Mac players,

With the December 17th release we updated the compiler used to build the mac client from XCode 9.4 to XCode 10.2. This was a necessary change so we could notarize the game client with Apple (required by January 2020). Unfortunately the compiler update introduced some new client crashes that slipped by me. We haven’t found the exact problems yet, other than its in our graphics system. With the January 14th release I’m shipping some diagnostics to help figure out what’s going on. Looks like some players are having success by turning down some of their settings. I think just turning down Shaders should do it, but I can’t be sure since I haven’t been able to reproduce the problem.

If you get any of these crash messages you are most likely hitting what I am talking about. I’m working on it, sorry!

The error messages I saw after the December 17 release indicated missing or mis-indexed high quality textures. Now the January 14 release has it crashing repeatedly again and the error messages indicate something to do with shaders. I'm still using medium quality settings to work around the Wintersday crashes. Haven't tried changing the settings yet again to see if there is a way around this one. Can we just opt out of these special events if it means we can't even run the game at all?
