I walked away from the game some months ago. What's the current status of Mesmer? Is there an option that doesn't involve thief level reaction times and melee?

that's the status of mesmer: trash. I have no love for condi spam builds but this is the dumbest thing I've ever read. the big balance patch preview is stickied in this forum in case you missed it. if this is trollnet then dam they're just too good lol.

It's still utterly broken and over powered. To put it simply.

Mirage cloak nerf was needed months ago. Still better than never.

After the changes its going to be hard to say, thief might be utterly broken as fuck so mesmer will be unplayable.

Play old school sceptre/X + staff core condition mesmer it'll be largely fine.

I think its really hard to tell, with 5% crit chance ( amulets removed )

bleed on crit trait nerfed ( on top of only 5% crit chance )

no ambushes ( its core feelsbadman )

and pistol condi damage nerf + scept 2 nerf.

+ condi cleanse wasnt nerfed all that much if at all.

I could see all the duels becoming permanent stalemate.

Some sort of troll bunker could be a thing with insiration, scepter/sword + sword/shield bunker chrono

or some dumb scepter/sword + staff.
