  1. We live or die by our Bursts (or lack thereof when they are denied) not Weapon Swap ,or Movement Speed. Those are secondary factors not the main one. Stop saying otherwise. Burst is our main mechanic not weapon swap.

You want your weapon swap to be close to your burst recharge. You have a 5 second weapon swap if Fast Hands is Baseline and a 8 second Burst recharge when not running Discipline. That's actually clunky.

I loose my Warriors Sprint whenever I swap to my Rifle all the time, you get used to it. I dont even run Bulls Charge or GreatSword, you should be using those to close the gaps and using those to start a burst.

I would be okay with the Baseline Weapon Swap recharge at 7 seconds (2 seconds faster than non Warriors), close to non disc-burst recharge of 8 seconds. Then 5 second Weapon Swap Fast Hands could still stay in the Discipline tree where it belongs.

  2. This request for Fast Hands to become baseline has come up before, and as was mentioned earlier in this thread, Warrior Runes were suggested at that time and immediately dismissed as an alternative. I was a bit skeptical about the dismissal by so many Warriors last time, and I still am today.

Base weapon swap is 9 seconds, with Warrior Runes it brings weapon swap down to 7 seconds which puts it close to the Burst cooldown of 8 seconds if you are not running Discipline and getting Versatile Power. That seems pretty reasonable to me.

Warriors with Disipline are getting a faster burst recharge via Versatile Power at 6 3/4 seconds this meshes up well with the Fast Hands Weapon swap of 5 seconds. Also reasonable.

There is also nothing stopping a Warrior from using Warrior Runes and the Discipline traitline. This brings weapon swap down to a paltry 3.9 seconds and burst recharge down to 6 3/4 seconds. Where are all the Warriors running this combo? Because its too fast of a cooldown, thats why.

Personally I like the Weapon Swap theme of the Disciple traitline and Fast Hands should stay there.

There is nothing stopping you from using Warrior Runes which puts your Burst in line with your Weapon Swap when not running Fast Hands.

5 seconds is too fast for a 8 second burst recharge (non-disc) Warrior anyways.

Yeah, I dont see how Anet can look at weapon use statistics on Warrior and see that virtually no one takes Mace in competitive play. I mean, they should be aware of this problem.

  4. The theme of the Discipline Specialization does in fact revolve around the weapon swap as a combat function for Warrior. Its not only Fast Hands, but also Versatile Rage, Brawlers Recovery, and Versatile Power. All of them together promote the swap/burst play style that Warrior is known for.

If you are going to make Fast Hand baseline then whatever you replace it with needs to be in that theme but a lot more interesting than a boring damage buff. We are already getting some of that with the other weapon swap traits.

  5. That trait allows me to run Warrior builds that don’t use Sword or Greatsword. Like Axe/Axe-Rifle. Nerfing the trait would only push other weapons even further down than they already are.

Like was mentioned earlier, you kite rampage like you do all stances. If I can avoid dying from rampage with out a shield, 2nd endure pain, and hardly any movement skills on the Axe/Axe-Rifle weapon set on Core Warrior against Spellbreakers then with few exceptions anyone else can.

Warrior is the really the first class you should learn to beat in this game. In some ways it’s a litmus test before you can move on to other classes.

Kite the Stances, and deny the burst.

It doesn’t get any easier than that.

  6. Nice video you raise some interesting points with the build walk-through. I also favor DotE, especially on Core Warrior.

I run dual Axe on my core Warrior, Axe4 (procs quickness), Axe2 (20% crit chance) and into Axe 5 with Sigil of Strength. Axe 2 hits 5 targets. I try to start with an Evis to proc Berskers Power if I can, then the axe combo really gets good with damage.

I dont Zerg much, but end up forced into it during defense of keeps where our commander always have way less bodies all the time. I will have to try this out, seem like something that can really stay up front which I find Core cant really do.

I like build guides like this, great explanations and to the point.

  7. Well things change once you start moving away from Meta builds, Warrior has been locked into GS-X/SH and a handful of skills and traits for a very long time.

The bottom line is that we don’t have a lot of choice in what we can run and still be competitive with the higher performing specs.

So yeah, Shake it Off!, Balanced Stance, and Signet of Stamina have to be damm good, or it’s over for a highly telegraphed non-teleport/stealth class.

This is not a problem for just Warrior either, other classes are starting to feel the pinch as well.

  8. I tried your build in WvW, this thing hits harrrrrrrrrrrd. I landed a 16k maul after a 18k opening burst against a full health mounted enemy. They went from 100 to dead in just a few seconds flat. Easily blows away anything else I have played damage wise.

It does melt rather quickly though under pressure. I had some spectacular deaths, some of them were getting surprised by the same glassy type Soulbeasts.

  9. OP was describing killing reinforcements, a valid strategy especially for the outnumbered side.

Last week or so there was a huge fight at NC in TCAB, all 3 sides were in the camp fighting. Some of us started intercepting enemy reinforcements just south of NC. Didn't take long for the ganking label to get spammed in PM's. Zerglings actually expect to run across 3/4 of the map, most of it through enemy territory and if you attack them your are a freakin ganker. Ridiculous!.

  10. Normally I dont like unblockable attacks unless the player has to do something to get it. Like slotting a utility or signet on the skill bar. Just tacking it on to an attack is cheap and only hurts the game with less counter-play options, heavy hitting ranged attacks should be blockable. The attacker should have to play around the defenders blocks, that's the skill element at play.

But then Deadeye got unblockable just tacked on to Deaths Judgement "just becuz", and Soulbeast has plenty of unblockable as well. Considering this perhaps BlackTruth is right, Killshot should also get the same treatment.

  11. I have been using Banner in WvW for ranged stomps in small scale, I feel its a bit safer than the Daredevil thief stomp skill(which i like a lot). It helps a lot as now I dont have to blow my Balanced Stance just to secure an important stomp. The only real problem with it is it seems to be affected by terrain bugs and it will not proc even though it landed directly on your target. It seems to happen in areas that get a lot of issues with ranged attacks not working properly. (obstructed target) I still think it could cast faster or not be effected by blinds, right now it feels okay but it bugs out too much.

With so much boon rip and corruption flying around now Signet of Rage was not really getting much mileage for me so I tried Banner recently. Nothing worse than making sure you can cast SoR during a fight just before a planned burst (opponent has used his dodges), and then just have the boons stripped or corrupted. It does not even feel like an elite anymore.
