  1. I just wanted to praise ANet even for taking care of these (*cough cough*) minor things so fast. I got the infusion but I didn't even care to use it (I wanted so see a preview, but I'm too lazy to even pay 24 silver to remove it, in case I don't like it). I wish the devs I work with, in my company (which is even bigger), were so efficient... Give me a cookie :)

About the moustache... actually I like how they look on @"AysonCurrax.3254" 's character. It they were also gray, they would lose some appeal. Not sure about the Asuran hair (in that case maybe they would look better petrified). But in the end we are talking about Asura. They always look bad.

Unrelated, but kudos for the stretch emote with Charr: the animation with the back up and the paws stretched forward, like real cats, made me very happy :)

  2. Old topic (but always worthy of a thread from time to time), and old pictures (hidden as spoiler to don't take too much space)

Legendary weapons always add... a distinctive touch to the fight.

When you brag about your skins... this is what I see on you: nothing :p

Even the game tells you that there is confusion

Remember to dodge, when the boss raises his arms. If you can load the model, that's it.

  3. There are interesting ideas and news: we are not the only champion anymore (although I still don't like Steelcatcher), Aurene is not the only reasonable dragon, Braham became the best character of the saga (I didn't think that it was possible to say something similar), but yeah, it seems a bit rushed to the end. Understandable, since many players are anxious to see the next expansion, so I find a "smart" idea from ArenaNet to give us short stories, with farming achievements and relatively easy content to develop while they work on the big one (don't say "if it's so easy, why don't you do it?"; easier compared to the previous living world's chapters ;P ).

I'm glad that DRM can also be solo'ed, although I find the difficulty of the last ones still inconsistent (today they nerfed Lake Doric that was already the easiest one, together with Snowden D), but I'm pretty sure they are monitoring how many failures we have right now :) The new DRM CM seem definitely more challenging than the previous ones, idk if intended, like for the strike missions.

Btw, the Seraphs in Lake Doric still tell me "may Balthazar strengthen you". Shouldn't we give them the news, at some point? "You see, dear, idk how to say it... yeah, it was me, sorry."

  4. I don't know now, but I did this achiev. years ago (3 I think) and yes, even at that time you had to finish the fight if you failed, there was no way to reset it :/

I did it alone because in group there were more... bulbs. If I remember correctly, they were 4 in solo, and 6 or 8 in group, so unless you really hug the vines at edge and let the other player do everything, it's easier alone, once you understand the rotation. Being forced to play the whole fight sucks though, I agree.

Today I saw a post on LFG about this mystery cave achiev, idk if it was you (@Spectral; I really hope OP got it in the meantime, after 2 years). I didn't remember what kind of achiev it was, so I didn't join. Now that you refreshed my memory I'll try to join if I see it again :)

  5. I never play on a map that it's daily, especially when I decide to play a new character. Even if I'm able to get credit using a ranged weapon, it's simply not fun to predict where a red dot will spawn and chase it before the others. The funny thing is that many players think that they are "helping" the new ones in this way. Anyway, it's not a big problem for me, there are many other maps and I don't care about the daily quest. We should ask what truly new players think, not veterans on the forum. But we can't :/

I wouldn't be against a nerf for players lv80. Only a slightly nerf for the player's stats, but much bigger for the mounts' skill: they are (still) definitely OP in core maps.

  6. @"firedragon.8953" from my experience, the main reason is the low profit. I work in a videogame company and we localize games in EFIGS (English, French, Italian, German, Spanish) plus Russian and Dutch. Not in Portuguese (anymore). But we did it some years ago, then we stopped. As you say, Brazil has a huge community of gamers (we had a whole server for BR players in the MMO that I played before), but videogames cost a lot in Brazil and few people buy them. A big community doesn't necessarily mean more money, because the economy can be very different in those countries. Italian for example, is considered one of the main languages in Europe, but GW2 is not localized in Italian (GW1 was), because few Italians actually buy original videogames, even though the game community is quite big.

  7. Pretty much what Randulf said, for me too. I completed all the Story Journal until Jormag Rising (then I gave up on that collection, that just requires gold), everything in General (apart from Tradesman and Explorer, again, because it just requires a lot of gold), all PoF, Hot and Side Stories because they were fun, like all the Festival related achiev. Basically I try to complete everything (if I'm able) but I leave all the achievements that are just money sink. I completely ignore minis and skins 'cause not interested (unless they belong to some achiev and are not very expensive).

I like to have a tab fully completed, but I also realise that at some point there will be for sure some achievements that I won't be able to get, so leaving something here and there it's not a big problem. 100% is a thing. 99% or 90% is the same...

  8. I really doubt they'll add any new language, even if Gaile's post (sigh) is old. The only idea that comes to my mind, is allowing players to translate the subtitles using an API to display them on a different chat tab, as overlay. We know Anet doesn't want that people can modify/edit their game (righteous, like any other company), so the only alternative (maybe) is to add the translation to the existing game. But the game itself would remain in English, for example during the Mad King says.

It would be interesting to see if the community would be able to organise a good work, for example using a wiki, or if we ended up with dozens of versions, including eventually some "funny"/bad joke. Maybe it's too risky for ArenaNet.

  9. Not really an important bug, but in case it's not intended, I'll leave it here.

    >! During the second part of the story in Drizzlewood Coast, "[a simple negotiation](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/A_Simple_Negotiation)", the wiki says that only if my charr is Iron I'm supposed to say "Our imperator...", while it's (also?) said by a charr belonging to the Blood legion.

I always appreciate some small difference in the dialogues, so gratz for having put some variation also here. The best was to play as engineer at the beginning :)

  10. The world didn't really need another small and unprofessional website about GW2, but... hey, I had to spend some days alone at home for Christmas, so I had some free time. Just to do something different.

It's specifically addressed to free-to-play users, since they cannot buy much from the trading post and can't even ask questions here on the forum. Sometimes I meet some of them in the core maps, but I doubt they use the forum. Anyway:

    Have a good time folks!

  11. Thank you Danikat. I also use sometimes a f2p account (doing the world completion and easy fractals without mounts and mistlock singularities is quite fun), but I didn't think about trying to buy the template from the hero panel (I tried from the shop/account upgrade and I didn't find it).

Good to know (I guess) that it doesn't work.

I also have an item to unlock all the waypoints in Orr: it never worked on the f2p account. It always says "you can't use it now, even when I'm in Orr.

  12. "IT'S PRIMORDUS VS JORMAG!" If Taimi was right with her simulation, Tyria will blow up and the game will be over :/

    I'm sad.

EDIT: Ah wait, Aurene wasn't "Aurene" yet, so time for another simulation.

About the spoilers, it was probably difficult to show something without the fire and the destroyers, but avoiding Bangar (and especially that last sentence) would have hidden the fact that Jormag will fight on our side.

  13. Adding new things/game modes rather than squeezing to the last drop the current ones, seems a good thing for me. It adds options. If you like a game mode you play it as long as you want, it won't be deleted. But what if you don't like strike missions and you have a full LW5 and 6 focused on those? I'd rather praise ArenaNet from trying to create something new, rather than just add farming on current modes. But that's just me, a casual player.

  14. Welcome back difens!

The best way to proceed depends on how you enjoy the game the most. If you want to catch up as fast as possible, I would suggest to start the PoF story until you get the first 2 mounts (using the PoF mastery points to upgrade their skills to level 3: longer/higher jump. Don't max them, for now). Then you can go back and play the HoT story or continue with PoF if you like.

My personal advice however is to play the game in the order that it was meant: first HoT, then PoF, with the Living World in-between, if you bought it too. You'll never forget the first time! (good or bad that it was). It doesn't take that much to complete the main story. However there is some extra pain that could be just avoided. Some hero points are just much easier with a mount. Same for some jumping puzzles: mounts are usually disabled, but still, sometimes there is a way to go much closer to the end, if you have a mount (the jp in silverwaste is an example). So don't waste much time on these achievements if you don't have a mount yet.

280 gold are enough to buy the first 4 mounts. The griffon "was" an awesome mount, but nowadays it's been basically replaced by the skyscale, so I wouldn't consider it a priority. Skip it.

About the gear, I also use Marauder for my power-based builds. Especially in HoT, it's useful. But for group content, people still prefer to go Berserker, so up to you if you want to change it. Maybe you can mix berserker with soldier for a bit, in open world. In WvW people usually prefer more tanky builds, that's why you probably crafted Soldier instead of Berserker.

  15. Finding a good setup (mouse/keyboard) and a customized build is important (I would die in few seconds with a dragonhunter, against a tough boss), but I also think your jump from solo player to raid was probably too high all at once (if, like it seems, you never tried dungeons and fractals before).

I'm not young anymore, and the age is enemy of my reflexes, but I can say that I'm able to do more things now than when I started to play GW2 (I immediately gave up on the idea of playing fractals t4, complete the towerclock jp, or take that Kingslayer achiev). But practice can greatly improve the performance, despite the age. Maybe you won't be able to use the super-duper build of snowcrow (I didn't even try), but you can find a decent build for you as well.

I suggest you to try some basic fractal, and try to go higher, when you feel ready. We have this event right now, so people expect to find new players. It's a good way to practice your rotations/controls in group, before jumping into raids.

But most important, have fun! If you don't like to play in group because of the other people, just don't do it. But if it's only because you're not able to use efficiently your skills, then practice! (or change class when you play in group, that can also be a solution).

  16. Hi, I'd like to know if being AFK (or pretending to be AFK) in the Dragon Bash arena is fine or not.

I don't want to start a discussion whether it's fair or not, just to know (possibly from ArenaNet) if it's allowed. All the threads that I found about this topic (with official replies, not from other players), talked about farming in open world, where a minimum of action is required. Things like:

_1. Using skill (1 or more) while AFK

    2. AFKing in a place where it is beneficial for your character to be at

    3. Unresponsive to interaction with GMs_

However this doesn't apply to instances like Dragon Bash or the Celestial Challenge, where players can stay there without any "brick" on the autoattack. If I missed some post with an official reply from ArenaNet, please link it.

If it's not allowed, then how can I report AFKers? If it's allowed then fine, I'll put my character there while eating, without being afraid of a ban.

This is the second day of the events, we still have 3 weeks, so just to know the rules...

    Thanks
