The first time we tried with my old guild, we were in 10. And it was quite hard because there were 2 champions (and 2 groups of mobs to clear at once). Then we tried with 9 and there was only 1 champion, so you definitely don't want to have more than 9 people.

When I claimed my guild, we were in 4, and we finished with plenty of time still available. There were the same mobs than with 9, but I think they were easier to kill (or maybe just because we were more geared, idk). Anyway, like @"Fenella.2634" said, 3-4 is enough.

  2. If it's the first time you play this episode, I don't think you can completely reset it. But you can restart from last paragraph. For example:

    [https://i.redd.it/yf0u3zs746c31.png](https://i.redd.it/yf0u3zs746c31.png "https://i.redd.it/yf0u3zs746c31.png")

After opening the story journal, select a chapter that you already completed (for example All or Nothing) and choose to replay it. Then, select again the episode 6 and continue with that. It won't reset the whole episode, but you'll re-do your last paragraph (if I'm not mistaken).

If you can, post a screenshot of your current story, where we can see what's the green text on the top right. Maybe you can continue from where you are.

  3. The part of the video around 3:00 can be "bugged" if you enter that tunnel before Taimi and Gorrik finish to speak. If you are already in that green circle when they start to talk, you won't have the spear on your special key (it happened to me a couple of times). In that case, go a bit far from the area and come back. (although from what I understand, you're stuck a bit before)

  4. Heya fellows.

Since I'm a bit short on new achievements, I was thinking about completing the Dungeon tab, more specifically, the "Hobby Dungeon Explorer" (together with the Dungeon Frequenter).

There's already someone interested in my guild, but I doubt we'll be able to form a static group for this, on our own. People are always busy with something else.

The idea was to run the 8 easiest paths, during the weekend (once or twice max. It will take ages, but it's just to do something different, after that boring Giant Slayer and Shield Mastery achiv).

I'm not looking for particular classes/combo/speedrun, just "someone" to spend some good time with, to ease this farming achiev (actually I could play some of the professions that I never play). Also, I usually forget any mechanic in them, so I'd like to stick to the same dungeons (although we can change them at some point, for example if we get all their skins).

  5. Once in game, press Y to open the [LFG panel](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Contacts_and_LFG_panel "LFG panel"). If your son is online, type the name of his character; if he's offline type the name of his account, including the numbers (so for example, if he wants to add you to his friend list and you are offline, he can search Atomic HillBilly.6512)

As suggested by other players above, it would be better to play on the same server (it really doesn't matter in PvE, but you might want to experience some WvW together one day). Also, when you step in Lion's Arch, one of you could create a guild (it costs 1 gold), so you can both join and use the guild chat (easier to talk each other, without being forced to join a party or send whispers).

Best of luck to you two! I tried for years to play with someone of my family, but no one is interested in videogames :/

  6. If we talk about "interesting stuff", it really depends (I prefer the Order of Whispers, more interesting and funnier quests). But if we talk about "the order that would fit better", I second the Vigil. I also chose Vigil for my warrior charr, raised in the blood legion. Those hotheads of the blood legions wouldn't be able to just sit and read a book of move around sneaky.

(but my charr revenant joined the Whispers - he was Iron legion though, and gladium, so a loser.)

  7. From what I understood, you like the guardian, but you find easier the ranger, while you (don't like and you) find difficult the mesmer.

The ranger would be easier indeed, but if you don't want to wait until it's lv80, I'd suggest the mesmer. The guardian is not bad, but if you go often solo, it might be a problem to survive against some tough mob, or some hero point (although there should be still groups for those). Against normal mobs, on the other hand, it would be stronger.

The mesmer has more survivability, even if you said that you suck and it doesn't have an elite spec yet. You can use the staff to solo HPs and tough champions (like Mayatl the Fierce, in Verdant Brink, which I think it's impossible to solo with a guardian and very challenging with a ranger, while it just takes time with a staff mesmer).

But imo the most important thing is to have fun, especially if you're exploring the maps for the first time, so if you like more the guardian, go for it. (just don't go yolo on champions...)

Now I expect videos of someone who soloed Mayatl with a guardian. Gratz to anyone who made it :)

  8. You can check [gw2crafts.net](https://gw2crafts.net/scribe.html "gw2crafts.net") for a guide. It's a bit expensive, compared to the other professions, true. But if you are a completionist, want to complete the tradesman tab, or are planning to have your own guild, it might be useful (I'm currently enjoying decorating mine).

Note that some recipes can be unlocked only if you upgrade your guild, so if you plan to level up scribe (using cheaper recipes), it might be useful to join a big guild, even temporarily. If you don't have one, you can join ours.

    > Stuck a bit with Chomper and Subject 7 and the boss in T3 for now. [...] Does anyone have experience with the T4 special bosses (normal kill and maybe with special achivements if there are any) - without expansions?

**Chomper** shouldn't be particularly difficult if you have a decent dps. For the "no meat" achievement, I used a core warrior, but among the classes that you have at lv80, I'd say the ranger (lots of CC). That's what I used last year, but my damage was too low, so even after 4 meats, the warg was still alive (this year it died after 2).

**Deadeye Dunwell** just requires a timed dodge when he shoots you, he has few HP. This is a good boss to try the 5-gambits achievements (I choose Frailty, Hamstring, On Fire, Squeamish, Descension). Last year I killed him with a thief (because thief vs thief was just cool), this year I got the 5-gambits with a core warrior. But you already have a thief, so try with that (a power ranger should work too). Careful with the mines though: they will insta-kill you.

**Liadri** is where I stopped last year (my characters had random exotic gear, with random runes and no sigils, so low damage). This year I tried with a condi ranger (SB actually) and it was fairly easy. For the 8 orbs achievement, I used Skirmishing 232, Wilderness 312, shortbow, the classic brown bear (but it really doesn't matter in this case), Troll unguent, Lightning Reflexes, Muddy Terrain, Signet of Hunt, Entangle.

The key here (for me) is to slow down your damage (so that you have time to throw 8 orbs -> you don't need utilities to deal dmg) and slow down the clones as well. When you see several clones going to the same rift, use a trap (like muddy terrain) to slow down one of them, so that they don't reach the rift together (it would be difficult to pick up the orb then). If you have several clones + Liadri near one orb, lure them a bit far from it, use Entangle and go back to pick it up.

In general, if you pay attention to the red AoEs (there's a specific cicle, but during the fight it's easy to get lost, so just remember where it was last AoE and go there after: it never happens twice on the same spot), you should use the dodges only to pass through the clones (sometimes you have to risk, to pick up an orb, before it disappears). If you find yourself surrounded by clones, in the middle of an AoE, use Lightning Reflexes, the panic button.

The engineer should also be a good choice for this boss.

For **Turai**, I tried few classes, but in the end I succeeded with a core warrior (Strength 132, Arms 213, Discipline 221, For Great Justice, Bull's Charge, Signet of Stamina, Signet of Rage, double axe). In case you will level up the warrior in the next 2 weeks, the idea is to run in circle, close to the wall, and dodge everytime you see him jumping to you. You need several dodges: after you use your first 2, use For Great Justice: thanks to Might Makes Right, you will gain an endurance bar. After using the third dodge, use the Signet of Stamina. This should give you almost 2 endurance bars. Then, For Great Justice again for another dodge. Use the Signet of Rage when you run in circle, for the swiftness.

When Turai goes to the mid, it's very important that you still have 1 dodge available: use it to avoid the sword that he'll throw. Then, Bull's Charge and dps him hard (thanks to Unsuspecting Foe). Repeat this another time, and when he reaches the 50% he will become a butter cake. If you go down here, don't panic: vengeance and beat him hard! (if he's at 50%, 10 seconds are enough to kill him).

Since you have a thief, you can try with it. I used a DD with shortbow and it was obviously much easier to dodge him. But I lacked CC to stun him. Basilisk Venom wasn't enough, so I needed a second CC (Impairing Daggers). This was fine at the first CC, but the second CC happens when Basilisk is still in cd, so I needed a third CC... in the end my damage was too low. Unless you don't care about CC and just dps him (someone posted a video with a thief, in another thread, so it's definitely doable. I don't remember if it was core though).

    And good luck!

  10. Doc, don't give up! This is my second year of Queen Gauntlet and I've been able to complete all the achievements that I wasn't able to complete last year, on my first experience. Last bosses give a lot of AP, so it's fair that it's a tough challenge, but with practice you'll get closer, and eventually succeed.

I would like that people stopped being so salty and toxic with this "you must be dumb, it's super easy", with pretty much every content. I've been insulted during the fight with Turai, because I kept dying. If you want to give advices, you're welcome. But pls stop annoying other players that are just trying to figure out what to do.

I managed to kill Turai with a core warrior (and it was a great feeling, after many attempts) and Liadri 8 orbs with a condi soulbeast (but I guess a condi ranger would have been the same, I didn't use stances/dagger). Actually, reading all the traits, trying to choose unusual combinations (trying to gain as much as dodges as possible) was nice. I learnt more about some classes.

ArenaNet didn't put this challenges into the yearly 50 APs. That would have been mean, since it's a festival. But I don't see anything bad in putting some challenge here and there, also for people that like some tougher content.

  11. I hope Blish has been destroyed for good, since "simply" turning him off would probably cause him other nightmares.

My guess is that since we will lose Taimi sooner or later, and Scruffy 2.0 with her, and since Gorrik said that he saved his brother... we will see a new Blish 2.0 in the future, eventually containing both Taimi and Blish's brains. I like both voice actors, and having a super-brained asuran entity is always useful. Plus, we are already used to hear them speak through a comm, so not a big change. The dual entity could create some funny moment as well, I guess.

    > Oh yeah i forgot to mention, i think all the regular players assume everyone has been playing gw2 for a long time like them. So when a new player is lost and ask something in map chat they get shocked like..what are you new or something? Yeah i am i dont know anything about a lot of this game, esp when it comes to hot and pof stuff. I think people could be a bit more patient, we dont know all the stuff thats why we ask.

I've also noticed it and I don't like it either. I'm not a veteran player (started with HoT) but I remember that when I asked something in map chat, people kindly replied if they knew the asnwer. Now it's always "/wiki" or "yt", or "giyf" (this one not anymore). I mean, sure the wiki has almost always the answer, but I assume that if someone is asking, it's because he/she didn't find the info. If you're too lazy to reply, just don't reply at all.

    > The newer content makes Guild Wars 2 players appear selfish. It's selfish in design. We went form a coop and helpful to selfish kill heart objectives as quick as possible right in front of other players because my mount is more important then theirs mentality. We went from shared resources/helpful community to a selfish kill it first game. Things die to fast to tag while everyone is completing hearts. Did I mention it is not fun being forced to repeat this over and over again.

That's also true. If you're a bit slower, you're left behind, and with the mounts is even worse. Take the quests like the 1k kills, or the farming during Halloween, or in general the hearts: everyone must stay in front of the others, to tag first. No one cares if there is a blue circle to protect, all ahead. Veteran players can use a suitable class for these purposes, but I imagine that the impression on new players is much worse. Yesterday one of our new/returning players in guild, complained about this indeed, that he wasn't able to follow the group.

Unfortunately Idk how it couldn't be solved. The XYLO's idea to share our progress/farming with the others is interesting. But I think that everyone would like to complete contents on their own. That's why we play, after all: to have fun for few hours.

It's still a great game, don't get me wrong. But ANet gave us too much power... blame on us.

    >[...] You cannot stop for one second to check your map anywhere. Are these maps supposed to get done in a party of 2 players?

That's unfortunately by design. You could kill mobs faster with more damage, but they will respawn quite fast in any case. They are not maps where you can rest, open your inventory to sell stuff, or open the map to check your direction. When you know the map, for your second/third map completion, is not a problem: you know where to go and you know the spots where you can take a small respite. But if you are exploring with your first character, it's very annoying indeed.

If you need to look at your map to plan your next POI, it might be a good idea to climb some hill with the springer.

    > Harder idea: An open-world, sandbox style pirate RPG/adventure game. You start off as a low ranked sailor who has just been let go from a merchant ship in a small but well connected port (aka typical starter hub). Maybe something went wrong, maybe you just didn't like it, either way you're looking for something different. 'Main' game/story wise you have the choice to join either pirate crews or naval crews fighting against them and work your way up the ranks through what's basically a level-up system which unlocks new abilities - for example getting your own ship gives you more control over where you go. But as well as the main game there will be all kinds of side things, mini games in towns, buried treasure and shipwrecks to find, random uncharted islands to explore etc.

    >

    > It's something I've been thinking about for a while and I think Anet could really do it justice, especially when it comes to the random extras you never even knew to look for which is a really important part of the game for me.

You described Uncharted Waters Online, that I really liked (years and years ago). The graphic doesn't stand with nowadays' standards, but the gameplay was like you described it. You had 3 specializations (you could play them all): adventurer if you wanted to discover ruins/pyramids etc, trader if you liked to fetch pepper to India or craft and sell in general, or mariner if you liked to attack other (NPC and players') ships and a bit of in land fights as well. It would be nice to have a decent naval game in the hands of a capable company.

Pity that it was a Korean game, the most grindy game that I've ever played (you grinded hard to unlock/raise your skills). But for me it would mean to stop GW2 for the new one, so for now I'm fine :)

  15. Same happened to me yesterday, during the 3 bosses in Dragonfall. And also the day before yesterday, during the maw of torment. Basically since the new meta event, sometimes I lose the connection: I can still move around, but everyone else is frozen on the map. I wait for a couple of minutes, and then I'm disconnected.

When I try to log in again, I get the error message. At least it happens after dinner, so it's a good time to stop playing.

Might be not related to the meta event, since this thread started one week ago, but I've been disconnected only in the last 2 days.

  16. I'm quite surprised to read that this part is so difficult. I mean, I fully understand that can be difficult for some people, due to some physical problems, or even simply age; what surprises me, is that you guys managed to reach this point! Even if you used the pungent food, there are parts of the collection that I thought more difficult than the catching ball (like using the skyscale itself or complete the story).

Anyway, being forced to stop a collection when you're very close to the end is a pity (like finding a very difficult jump at the very end of a JP). I'm quite against the idea to let someone else join the instance though. Simply because the idea is to raise the bond with your skyscale, so it wouldn't make sense to let someone else play with our pet. Maybe we could use an extra-pungent food also to skip this trial. If it's allowed to use it to skip the previous parts of the collection, I don't see why it shouldn't be allowed to skip the catching ball and the hide-and-seek too.

  17. When I read the title, I thought you referred to [this fire breath](http://sistersofmercy.altervista.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/gw421.jpg "this fire breath").

Braham kept spitting those blue flames on me for a good half of the instance, even during the dialogues. It takes a moment to burn a sylvari, I didn't know where I had to go, since he always followed me. Luckily when his mother arrived, he started to burn her. Which is fine I guess. I don't think she could feel the flames on her body.

  18. Thanks for opening a feedback thread about LW4, ArenaNet deserves some credit also from their last effort.

Maybe it was for the long wait, or because I've read the interesting Requiem stories first, but this episode was also very touching, despite I already suspected Aurene's fate. A bit less surprising than the previous episodes, but still full of emotions. So a big thank you and congratulations to the team. I hope many of us listened to the additional dialogues (like when you contact Taimi who's having "fun" with cannons or when Braham thinks about letting grow again the hair). Speaking of Braham, he's now my best pal. And also a super~~human~~norn warrior, considering that he shielded alone a direct blow of Kralkatorrik.

The maps are also good, despite I found too many farming achievements in the last 3 episodes. I don't like when I need a lot of gold to complete the achievements, but I liked for example the weapon collection/tales in Thunderhead Peaks (both the quests and the choice to add only the exotic version to the collection, not the ascended). The maps are also creative and well designed (but I preferred them before they added those smoke/branded effects near the 2 metas in thunderhead for example. Those are points where there are a lot of people, so this increases even more the lag. But my fault for having a bad PC).

Maybe because it's still fresh, but overall I think that I liked LW4 more than PoF (which also had a very interesting story). LW4 brought us also very appreciated QoL improvements, like the novelty tab, the unidentified gear loot, and last one that allows us to farm trinkets in any LW map we like (and not only Bitterfrost). Keep rolling! Thank you :)

  19. I remember when I did it with my engineer (definitely not my main class) and I was astonished to see that my turrets stayed on the battlefield for so long, before being destroyed. I didn't expect. But I used Sohotin, way easier. I can't give specific tips though, because I'm not that good with the engi. I just tried to save the blue orbs for when I was low on HP, so I managed not to die.

If you want to complete the instance without Sohotin (for example for the achievement), I suggest to do it with some friend. That's what I did, in 2. Unfortunately only the instance owner gets the achievement, so you have to do it twice (but if you're not interested, you can let him be the instance owner and stop after the first run).

Otherwise, I you don't find anyone, I can join, if you play in EU.

    >Also, I haven't really paid much attention yet to "builds" and such since I'm still so new and trying to absorb so much info in a short time. Guess I need to start thinking about that now. I guess I figured level 20 personal story would still be in the realm of "noob friendly,"

I think you unlock the first skill tree/track at lv21. But as you said, core Tyria is the field to start learning the game, no rush to start thinking about maximizing traits (usually you decide first which weapon you like the most, and then you choose the traits. So time to experiment and test first).

About your story instance in particular, I found [an old video on yt](

"an old video on yt"), and also from the "guide", you can see that the guy died twice... (or at least he went to downed state twice). So you're in good company.

I've read someone offered their help in NA. In case you play in an EU server instead, I glady offer mine (you'd play your story and choose all the options in the dialogue, I'll just be there to fight). Good luck!

  21. I'm happy with the format they're currently using (if there is even a format atm). I've read people complaining because the fight with Kralk was taking too many episodes, but following what the OP suggested, we would have had an entire expansion to really deal with him, while the whole LS4 had to be just an introduction. Idk, it seems quite boring.

ArenaNet proved to be able to provide good content (imo) and QoL improvements even during LW (LW3 was good, with new side stories, and also LW4 was cool, new mounts etc). I don't really care if we play them as living story or expansion, as long as it's a good content (and so far it was, for me). I like to be surprised, so I don't like much a fixed format. Also, it would be more costly for new players.

But I agree on the stories about "good"/interesting evil guys. We don't have to necessarily kill a mean antagonist/dragon. Joko's chapter was also pleasant because he had a point. Actually what he said during his last fight, was true. We might have been the bad guy after all. I'd like to see other similar foes, raising questions and doubts.
