  1. Personally I prefer Leadership runes just because of the active condi management part - stat-wise it pretty much provides the same amount of stats as Durability runes. I don't think Durability runes are that bad, you just have to replace some of the trinkets to make up for the lost of Power and Precision.

As for the F2 skill, the facet itself is too costly to keep up, so I never keep it up, I only use it for the skill that gives boons. As for the skill that gives boons, best advice is to use it frequently. The most important boon in there is Protection, so I use it when I don't have access to Facet of Chaos (the facet that gives Protection), or when I'm a bit low on Energy. It's also useful after you're boon stripped. You can actually use it a bit freely and use them off cooldown if you want to - I think I saw Tubby do it quite a few times, and it definitely helps with boon uptime a lot. He also uses it before a fight, I use it right after I get into a fight just so I can squeeze a bit more Protection uptime.

As for the other stuff, I guess practice makes perfect. The first few days I roamed with a Rev was painful, I lost like 99% of the fights. I just kept trying, watched Tubby's videos to see how he kited and utilized skills, and to adapt his playstyle (which actually convinced me to make a Rev just to roam since it looks so fun). I also suggest watching him stream since he explains what he's doing when he fights on stream.

Same for me. My guild still runs WvW everyday, I can fight with them if I want or I can just roam around, flip camps, sentries or sometimes towers, and I can still find people to fight with little to no trouble. The worst week so far for me was when people moved to SoR and it was impossible to fight the HoD and SoR link - yet I just took a break from zerging and roamed instead, and it honestly didn't bother me that much.

    > Most of these fights are fights where the enemy is pushing into your structures, or through chokes. This makes your life as ele insanely easy. Enemies have limited space, and you have a lot of space to freecast from. I think in either open field or when forced to push yourself, you'd die repeatedly. The enemies are also disorganised pugs, and despite your group not bubbling or wellbombing them you're hitting players who don't know what toughness or protection means.

    >

    > Meteo'ing pugs isn't good gameplay by itself. Good gameplay requires you to play well. And in my opinion, in each of these fights, you can do considerably more than what you did. And these are fights that went well. No offence but against stronger groups you'll literally get 100-0'd and be useless past first meteo.

Quick question: How did you have such good boon uptime, especially might? What can be done, from both you and the supports' perspective, to ensure you always have necessary boons?

  4. Different classes have different strengths, weaknesses and therefore roles in the game, some of which contradict each other. What you said regarding thieves and revs is true, in that they are good at different things but not both. If you want to just pick 1 class, I would say rev - I see a lot of dual sword herald while roaming in WvW and they're not too bad - of course not on thieves' levels, but they're okay. On the other hand thieves are probably way worse in PvE compared to Revs.

You can also play both classes - use one for each scenario, although I could imagine some people might like to just main 1 class.

  5. That's not a problem - that's how the class is designed as others have stated above. Also I don't see why you want to stay in Fire - you're missing out a lot if you just stay in fire:

    - You have to rely on Fire auto attacks more (which is only second best, Air auto attack is better) and wait for Fire skills' cooldown.

    - You miss out the other sword skills - Earth 2 is an evade and blast finisher, Air 2 is a shadowstep, Water 2 is a water field + evade (arguably your absolute best skill on sword).

The closest you can get to having 1 attunement as a main hand attunement all the time is Fresh Air Weaver: Basically you use your Air skills, switch to other attunements and use their skills, then immediately switch back to Air for auto attacks and proc'ing Elements of Rage (10% bonus damage when attuning to a single element).

  6. \*secretly hoping you're talking about me\*

In all seriousness, I've seen many posts on here and reddit from new comers saying they really enjoy PvP, so it looks like people might have gotten into PvP first and gotten some experience before going into WvW.

Toughest, most survivable build of all my toons and deals decent heals. I know about positioning though ;) Usually I'm the last (wo)man standing if we fail.

What trait lines do you use for your D/D? How is its survivability? I really like D/D but I heard it's outdated for WvW.
