Additionally, these new machines will not support Boot Camp either, so you cannot dual boot an ARM-based Mac into Windows. This means that all software running on the new Macs must either be re-written for ARM or must run through an emulator. X86 emulation comes with a significant performance impact—in general, emulation is okay for software like office productivity apps, but not for gaming." I've seen a lot of people offering the emulation solution. Now I'm worried that won't help the Mac users either. Though GW2 does generally run faster and better than ESO, so maybe it can handle the performance hit better.
  2. I'm glad you got that sorted out. A just-in-case reminder: there is a strong rule in GW2 about one key press = one action. Combo keys would be fine, eg if you have to hold ctrl-T down on your keyboard to set a target, there should be no problem turning one of your thumb buttons into ctrl-T since only one action results (and you could rebind the combo to a single key if you wanted anyway). Don't set up macros with your mouse software to fire off multiple actions with one keypress (unless it's playing a musical instrument, that is the only exception officially allowed). The convenience of mouse side buttons is not having to flail your fingers all over the place, but they still are just there to map legitimate keyboard actions.
  3. I'm not going to consume mine until the next chapter comes out and I can hope for some IBS mastery drops to help move that track along. I have all the other masteries unlocked already. I'm glad to hear that the vials can be merchanted, though, as that'll make it not a complete waste though considerably less lucrative gold-wise than previous guaranteed chest drops.
  4. Hmm, not sure how to do it directly. Try checking your friends list for anyone you remember as being in a guild with you. If they're still active, send them an in-game mail to ask, maybe?
  5. > @"Crackers.9628" said: > Shouldn't dyes and berserker gear always be a hot market? Dyes coming in birthday presents have helped rein in prices. Also at some point dyes became salvageable for pigments used in guild hall decorations -- brown pigment seems the most valuable -- so if someone could sell a dye for under a silver, or get pigments to store for later use or sale, they might find it easier to salvage and deposit mats than to go through the TP interface for such a small listing. So many better stats have become available that while berserker is still decent for the right power build (and condi builds became quite viable after a rework, lessening the demand for only berserker), it is extremely easy to do better. And again, with more room to store mats and more uses for those mats, players are probably salvaging rather than listing. Like I said, flipping means knowing the ins and outs of the market. Paying heed to game changes that may affect fotm builds. Predicting what common material might become hot thanks to a new achieve or special item to make. It's way more work than I've ever cared to put in :)
  6. Actual TP experts can answer better than me, but I'll hazard a few possibilities. - You lucked into a hot market back then. Everything I've seen about flipping says that you can't just do it with anything, you need to know what the trends are. Flippers are very cagey about letting anyone know what they're flipping, because as soon as the masses find out, they locust the item and supply and demand even out. - Players have a lot more storage capacity now, and a lot more to make with the mats they do have. It's easier to hang onto mats, so why sell? - Players are more savvy about listing as sell orders. If you say you'll buy mithril ore at 50c per, but the lower sell orders are at 1s or more (totally made up figures with no relation to reality), and mithril ore is moving at hundreds of thousands a minute, only the most clueless or uninterested will sell to the high bid rather than list and get double their profit in mere minutes.
  7. Also, be very careful. The error probably means the transactions are not going through, but sometimes when you keep trying to buy gems and failing, the attempts are in a queue and suddenly you will have bought many times what you meant to.
  8. Welcome back, I'm glad you're having so much fun with surprise moments. Part of the ongoing joy of this game for me is the vicarious thrill of watching others discover things for the first time that excite them, so I can reach back to when it was awesomely new for me too. You just made Toypocalypse exciting to me again, thanks!
  9. So long as there is hair included, I'm all for more such options. There are too many nice hats I just won't wear because they neither conceal the skull to disguise the hair loss nor provide hair for characters that normally have it.
  10. > @"Svennis.3852" said: > I started working on this. Got me excited and doing the festival events, but after looking up the cost of materials... I will might have to pass this up. I have enough coins on hand, but sacrificing 150 coins is pretty huge. Think of it as a long term project. I've been playing since launch, and I started poking at Winter's Presence early on. My sticking point was the JP requirement, I could not beat that thing. Until last year when I finally learned there is a path where the snowflake platforms don't disappear so I can take time to adjust my cursor back to the middle of the monitor. Voila, that done, all I had to deal with this year were the two Essences (which is where the mystic coins come in). As it happens, coins have been building up in my bank all these years, and I've kept them just in case I ever needed a mess of them to craft with. So years later, as of last night, I have Winter's Presence! It took nearly all that time to drink 10K drinks, too. So if you just do the parts you can do, without pushing yourself, by the time you need the coins you very well might have the coins just from log in rewards and rare in-game sources. Plus you'll have many other mats built up, at least if you are a pack rat like me. I got impatient and bought the last snowflakes I needed, along with some miscellaneous other mats, but I don't think I spent more than 50 gold out of pocket yesterday.
  11. I press my key just as the note is kissing the white line; by the time the key is fully pressed the note's in the right place (usually -- my perfect scores are few and far between). That said, I have occasionally through the years gotten a bug where it just wouldn't register that I'd hit the right note and I'd have to bail out of that instance and try to get into a different one.
  12. > @"Ashantara.8731" said: > > @"Donari.5237" said: > > Oh hey! Get the shoulders that are a fur mantle with a hound head > > I've had them for ages. Totally besides the point of this thread _or_ my suggestions (if you look at the pics I posted, none of them features a hound head or other weird stuff, nor are the shoulders you suggest a cloak ;) ). > > But thanks for the suggestion anyway. :) I've tried all sorts of combinations, but would really prefer a real cloak (covering shoulders etc) that looks like a classy adventurer's cloak and not all "super fancy" (or downright kitschy) like the ones we have. *grins* You left the part out where I said to combine them with a cape. Yet I agree, the capes the game offers are not cloaks, not utilitarian or practical, and lack the physics I crave. I'm glad they found a way to do even this much, but I still dream of cloaks that actually warm and protect. Would I equip them? I'm not actually sure. I tend to shy away from long term use of things that obscure the armor I've painstakingly assembled, and I find that I like seeing my characters' legs to get a better feel for jumps and positioning.
  13. I'm all for more cosmetic options, and I don't mind chasing achieves to get them, but I wouldn't want them to be only available to one character. You say they could be changed with a makeover -- could they be changed back if you want them after all? Far easier to keep using the system already in place, ie the makeover kits, and as it's likely *not* easy to tailor the options in the kits to specific account unlocks, best to just provide them to everyone. Maybe there could be community goals as we've seen in Boss Week and the IBS factions thus far, which if met means all the kits get the new options. But really, I'd rather the past be prologue and simply have more options added periodically. I do understand you're asking for things that can't really fit into the kits as currently designed, such as piercings that don't involve a completely new face that happens to have piercings. It'd be lovely if they could add things like that to character creation with much the same UI as body type or hair style, but only if it can happen without breaking the game's code into unusability.

I believe I understand and I will give it a try. Exactly the solution I was going to recommend. I only have a few side buttons I use on my Razer HEX but they are simply mapped to keys so I press on the mouse instead of the keyboard, but either input would work. It won't increase your keybind real estate, but it will make it much easier to hit the split-second reaction keys.
  15. > @"fox.5340" said: > I really wish ANET would do more _complete_ armor pieces and less outfits on the gem store. Is there not a way to just make the outfits, armor pieces and throw a "tonic" to make it an outfit as well? The trick there is in your word "just." If you check other threads about turning outfits into armor you will find all the technical reasons that's a problem along with links to or direct quotes of the devs explaining it. I would *love* outfits to be severable armor pieces. By now ANet is surely aware how much many players would like this. But the short version of all those other threads is that outfits are made on a different rig, and can be produced reasonably quickly, whereas one armor set can take most of a year due to needing to tailor it to all the races and rigs. ANet does not have the spare resources to make lots of armor, so they churn out the outfits instead.

Get the shoulders that are a fur mantle with a hound head, stick that on any cape, voila! (The raven feathers mantle will also work for the OP's desire). 17. > @"Veprovina.4876" said: > Nice! Thanks! Hopefully they'll have that star gobbler available again! I just hope i don't have to do any jumping puzzles like the one from mad king, i never completed it. The Wintersday JP is soooo much easier than Mad King. I didn't use to think so, I never beat it. Until last year when these forums clued me in that the far right path has candy stepping stones that *don't vanish under you*. It's still a timed JP but way more forgiving, there is time to take a breath here and there, readjust my mouse on the pad, and get to the campfire before the gifts. Then I can pause until there aren't too many people in the way and leap up the middle of the gifts to the rolling ice boulders, sashay past those using the side spots to duck them, and remember that not everything is solid on the final gift box batch while still taking my time to make the jumps carefully. It's not on farm status for me, I can't reliably one shot the JP, but I did finally get the achieves from it (and I've been playing since launch, so that's a lot of years it took me, lol). You'll get fewer rewards from the right hand path, but some rewards are much better than zero rewards imo. However, you don't have to do the JP to get the Gobbler, I got the Gobbler the first year it was released and as I said, I only got the JP beat last year. Take heart!
  18. Question, which "next chapter" do you mean? If you are referring to the 10-80 Personal Story, and are doing it on a second character after completing it on the first, you only get AP the first time. Not saying that's what's going on, just that this has been a prime source of confusion over the years and is *usually* the reason someone is not getting AP, rather than a bug. Depends on the details of your problem.
  19. > @"Rihar.3465" said: > del > @"Donari.5237" was the first :c Take heart, I was only first because I had my roof replaced today so I had to be up horribly early. Thus I was at my computer before the noon reset and ready to pounce as soon as I saw the note. I am sure you will be faster than me forever more! Danikat, I didn't realize it was based on previous settings; I assumed it defaulted to hidden since it's much easier for someone who wants their stuff shoved through a random compacter to toggle it on than someone who doesn't to toggle it off after a rage inducing quarter of an hour fixing things from a misclick :) But hoo boy was I happy to see it grayed out in my Inventory on log in!

  21. > @"Chichimec.9364" said: > Hmm, just got my underwater skimmer earlier this week. Needed 6 more mastery points to train it and got those in one afternoon spent on PoF maps. Now I'm working on the experience to able to use those mp and that's taking a bit longer. Can I buy experience on the Trading Post? (That was a sarcastic question, folks. Yes I know about exp boosters. :) ) You can get mastery experience from nomming casino coins, I believe -- I didn't even think of this when I was working on skimmer diving, despite having a plethora of them available, and I face-palmed rather hard. Also some of the heart vendors sell mount-specific treats you can consume daily for a burst of xp; get on the correct mount, eat the relevant treat, rejoice. As to buying MP ... I'm firmly on the no side. I was also against the WP unlocks, and I feel that perhaps an 80 boost should not be usable on an account that has not gotten at least one alt to 80 by actually playing through the levels, though I understand that this might make it harder to sell expansions to new players who want to dive into the newest stuff despite the lack of context for the story or time to learn what all the shiny buttons do. Paying to remove tedium is one thing, that's what QoL things like unbreakable tools and shared slots are for. Paying to remove needing to actually play the game ... meh! There are parts of the game I don't do. Raids, pvp, wvw other than special occasions like unlocking new skins. So there are achievements I'm not going to get in those areas. Legendary armor I'm not going to make. That's on me. I wouldn't pay gold to someone to carry me through raids, I won't pay ANet real cash monies to shortcut me to the end point. I've been playing this game for over 8 years, I have max masteries to this point, 27 alts each with at least one elite spec unlocked, and while some MP and HP were a grind to get, I certainly learned to play a lot better thanks to actually having to play my way to success.
  22. I'm all for more such hats coming in, with different logos. I almost never begrudge another player getting access to something I have; may it bring them joy, is my thinking. However, there are a very few items that were created to thank players for being in the game at special moments. The hat marked those who were there for launch, much as there was an armor outfit given to players who had joined and played before free-to-play was introduced. While the hat's *style* shouldn't be restricted -- baseball caps for everyone! Or at least everyone who doesn't care about being bald! -- the specific logo should remain reserved to players who met the conditions for it. (I differentiate this from some items that were only initially given to fans who physically attended a specific convention, but since then have had at least limited re-releases, such as the t-shirt outfit or Mr. Sparkles. The concept is similar but not identical, in my opinion. I think those super limited things were not billed as "this is in thanks for your doing this specific thing to support us and is your badge that you did it" -- they had codes that could be sold, whereas the free hats and outfit were delivered to any account that did the thing and thus that account had to exist and be active *at that time* and the special item commemorated that account being there).
  23. I think I like the idea of a reminder icon on the character portrait more than the birthday being listed, for a couple of reasons. One, it's a lot easier to quickly pan through the pages of alts and spot the symbol than to have to read each date, compare it to the current date, and remember if I picked up the gift yet or not. Two, the birthdays are 365 days apart. Thanks to leap years, my launch characters are actually getting their gifts a couple of calendar days ahead of their August 25th 2012 creation, and later alts likewise are getting advanced depending on when they were created. The icon could be like what we see on the BL logo when there is a free item to collect, assuming that it's a similar coding job (might not be, the BL is its own interface, quite distinct from the character selection screen). But this would certainly help quite a bit, either way it's implemented. As it is I keep a Word document I can consult to see who's coming due for a birthday. With 27 alts so far, it's rather a lot to log in to each one just to check on that.
  24. > @"Orion Templar.4589" said: > I'd simply like to have a way (maybe a gem store item?) to have all my home nodes harvested instantly. So I'd go into my home instance, talk to my new NPC service, and instantly have all the items added to my inventory. I know that probably sounds lazy, but after having walked the same home path harvesting path nearly every day for many many months, I'm ready for some time savings. This might get me actually daily going there. While I'm far from a full instance node-wise, I've collected enough nodes for it plus some garden plots that I'm in for some real tedium gathering everything. I've stopped buying/collecting new nodes since I bother to use them maybe once a month if that. If I only had to zone in with some bag space available, and maybe still manually need to open the bandit chest or other things that claim a limited currency to access, I'd find much greater utility. Come to think of it though -- gathering wood/plants/ore uses gathering tools. So players that don't have unbreakable ones might need an option to not gather those things automatically. And how would this affect visiting players? Do they get to auto gather in someone else's instance? Last I heard the garden plots either can't be gathered by guests or can only be gathered if the host hasn't used them yet that day; if the host auto-gathers everything on arrival, does that completely bar others from the gardens? This is more complicated than I thought at first glance :)
  25. The problem is back. Saw someone complaining that there were no accessories/amulets/rings on the TP. I checked, my necromancer had the same problem even after toggling off the profession filter. Double checked on Thief since last time this was an issue I cured it by toggling off Thief. No go. "no items match this filter." Runes and sigils are also refusing to appear.
