TheUndefined.1720
I think the inclusion of thumbs up / down is just asking for harassment and an easy way to troll individuals. I'm not trying to give a nice cool comfortable place for snowflakes, just that forums are meant to be used for discussion, not a Roman arena to give everyone an option for a popularity vote. Disagreements should be expressed in responses / posts, not with a thumbs icon. I suggest an alternative 'vote' system be used aside from agree / disagree or thumbs up / thumbs down. Maybe something like, insightful or informative instead of either thumbs up / down.
Voreo Sabrae.5416
Considering Blizzard did this with wow for this very reason, Yeah remove it please. Keep "Helpful" though.
SkyShroud.2865
I do agree that thumb down is easily abused because people can thumb down a post for a wide variety of reasons. I know there are many subreddits that disable thumbdown because of how easily it can be abused.
PookieDaWombat.6209
Yeah, don't get me started on this wannabe reddit nonsense. There is a reason I hate going onto reddit, and this up-vote/down-vote thing is top of the list.
Daharahj.1325
I agree. If they do decide to keep it this way however I'd like them to look into reducing visual clutter, the voter's avatar should be way smaller for starters.

I dont think they should have who thumbs up/down visible at all really.
Manasa Devi.7958
I really don't care about the popularity contest aspect. I don't like how it makes the forums feel bloated, with a very low actual content density.
jheryn.8390
I'll have to agree with the others above. The thumbs down is only going to discourage people from posting. The +1 system worked well because it was only positive reinforcement. I think you are asking for a lot of people feeling bad with this system. Leave the helpful and thumbs up, but lose the thumbs down.
TheUndefined.1720
Honestly, just change the text if you don't want to remove the links entirely. Give them more neutral terms than a stark positive vs. a stark negative. Thumb votes are coming... (Boom, you just got a Game of Thrones Stark house message reference and you didn't even know it... ;D)
BobbyT.7192
i think it might be alright seeing as you can see who upvoted and downvoted.
SunTzu.4513
Agree. Helpful is way enough. This thumps up/down thing is an invite to troll or dislike all posts of a person just in case of an personal ''i cat stand this guy'' issue. Even more so, I'm not just trying to spare people hurt feelings. I don't think forums should be used to harass people, but at the same time, I do think people should be able to take criticism. However, that criticism should be in the form of a post - using words, expressing thoughts disagreement or otherwise, not a silly icon.
Electro.4173
The other forum I frequent that uses this layout (Marvel Heroes) uses "Insightful, Interesting, and Awesome" as their 3 vote / feedback buttons. I suppose they could adopt something like that here as well if they want to go purely for positive stuff. Personally, I couldn't care less. I'm not fixated on some silly little vote buttons from random people on the internet, and positive or negative they aren't something I care about. But clearly some people are and going all positive would be a way to alleviate that I suppose.
TheVindelator.8239
At first glance, thumbs down might seem negative and discouraging but the effect of it over time may actually be good. When salty/complainy/low quality posts get a thumbs down the community becomes less toxic. (At least this seems to be what happens on Reddit)
ardasica.4531
My bigger concern is that they will use the Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down feature to determine how to react to specific feedback. So get enough up votes for a unicorn fairy mount and we might see that introduced to the game. I'm only partially joking with that.
Assic.2746
I agree. Let's not make it like reddit where people can downvote a topic because they simply find it uninteresting.

(At least this seems to be what happens on Reddit) What might be salty / complainy / low quality posts to you, might be very interesting / informative / and insightful to me. I get where you're coming at, but if there are poor posts being made, they should be challenged through equally thoughtful responses, not a button; otherwise, this should be something like Tender, not a forum. (At least this seems to be what happens on Reddit) The ability to suppress dissent and opposing opinions is the worst feature of Reddit. At least the system here does not result in posts being moved out of sight, and thus out of mind -- or does it? > @TheUndefined.1720 said: > > @jheryn.8390 said: > > I'll have to agree with the others above. Contesting a point or opinion is hard, at least by comparison. Don't allow people to take the easy way. Please

Haishao.6851
Either they keep both or remove both. There's no reason to have thumbs up if there's no thumbs down to counter balance it. Or they could make them invisible to anyone else than the staff. Thumbs up and down are useful tool.
Davion Roth.6709
Yeah I really don't see a point to having thumbs up/down as an option. They even call the threads "Discussions"...that's funny, I don't recall people being able to vote on every comment I make in a verbal discussion, so it shouldn't be an option with a text discussion either. If someone disagrees with you, they can post a comment as to why.
Razor.9872
I personally don't have any issue being downvoted. If I say something that deserves downvoting, it should be as such.
Einlanzer.1627
Agreed. Thumbs down is a terrible feature as it is not used responsibly in most cases.

Ubi.4136
Agreed. The thumbs up/down should be removed. It serves no purpose in a game forum where every post should always be chronological.
