I’ve never had a Guardian throughout my years of GW2 but I finally decided to splurge and get another char slot and... yeah. I remember seeing Guardians running around with them in tow. Oenanthe.6549 Posted February 18, 2018 Share Posted February 18, 2018 I don't remember them ever being like pets or minions and always there, but until the recent patch you did summon them and they would stay around for a set length of time, a minute or so and follow you around attacking what you attacked. They were close to useless before that patch due to being a bad mechanic, now they're close to useless because the devs (surprise!) got the numbers wrong. Most spirit weapons have their place the game now. Sword offers very good damage in PvE. Bow can pump up to about 10-12k healing and Shield is pretty good too thanks to 6s Weakness. Hammer is too slow and it's impossible to stun anyone with it even mobs in PvE. ANet should also make tweaks to the trait improving spirit weapons because right now only sword benefits from burning.
