if i upgrade and get a standered path of fire will i regret not having lilly of elon pass?

Recommended Posts

The pass does provide some benefits:

* The services players use most (bank, TP, Forge, merchant, crafting tables etc.) are in one location, which is somewhat more convenient. That said, those services all exist elsewhere.

* Getting to those services does not cost the 2+ silver from way pointing. Not a big deal, but it is there.

* If you have multiple alts you want to get to Elona, and don't want to run them through the initial story chapter to get there, you can use the pass and leave the riverboat to get to the first of the Elona zones. You will have to do that story chapter on the first character to take to the desert maps.

There's also ecto gambling in the casino, but I don't classify that as a benefit.

Whether you will regret not having the above I cannot say, but that is what you would miss out on. If you are low on RL cash but have a lot of in-game gold, you can buy the Basic PoF and upgrade to Deluxe via gems.

Maybe, maybe not, it's hard to say.

Like all the pass locations the Lily of the Elon is basically a mini town, so there's nothing there you can't also find elsewhere. The main advantage of the passes is that you can teleport there for free from anywhere in the world, so it saves a minute or two and a loading screen over going to the Heart of the Mists and then to LA and it's cheaper than using a waypoint.

The Lily of the Elon has the added bonus that it's also an easy way to get alts to the PoF maps without doing the story (meaning you can get there before you're level 80), but completing the story once gets you an item which can be used to teleport to Vabbi, so you don't need the Lily pass to gets alts there.

I didn't have any of the previous passes because I thought they were too expensive for what they offered - I'd rather just go to the Heart of the Mists and then to LA. But this one worked out cheaper for me, and I wanted a few of the special edition items anyway. I do use it, but it wouldn't bother me much if I didn't have it, I definitely don't consider it essential, but I know other people love the passes and would hate not having them.

Also bear in mind if you buy the standard edition you can always buy the upgrade in the gem store later. So if you're not sure I'd say just get the standard edition and then you can change your mind if you want.

theres nothing with the pass you cant have elsewhere except the quick access to all vendors and craftingstations in one place. even though i have the pass i hardly use it, most the time im doing all my stuff in lionsarch or divinitys reach still cause most people are there and i like crowd when im in a city.

so if you only think to get deluxe cause the pass and dont have much cash id say no need to get it.

The Lily of Elon pass is perhaps your only pain-free way of getting alts into the Path of Fire maps. The only other options requires finishing Path of Fire and it starts you at the back-end of Vabbi, very inconvenient for new alts. That would also require you starting a specific mount acquisition chain which gives you the return item.

If you don't mind going through the hassle of doing the first step of Path of Fire to introduce your alts, then the pass really has no value. (You can also use Teleport to Friend, but that requires someone to teleport to.)

There is a third option. Joining a guild with windswept haven.

Getting back to Crystal Oasis is also very easy considering how the WP's unlock.

My personal take is get the expansion standard if the extra cost is a worry. The passes for other areas go on sale often, and if its a free ride to the desert you want, your guild (or join a guild) likely has its guild home there.

I think the other passes are a little better, the mist one for example, but I prefer the royal terrace simply because I really like the city.

TBH I think I can count the times I have used the pass on one hand. Its a luxury convenience item and nothing more.. I certainly wouldn't buy any of the passes that exist via genstore personally so its really down to whether you feel that having a crafting section, forge and vendors/bank available at a touch of a button is worth it.. remember you get the same stuff in LA or DR etc, just that the pass locations have it all a little more enclosed :)

You should be able to buy the deluxe upgrade through the gem shop for gems.

Proof: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/prepurchase-guild-wars-2-path-of-fire/

>**Digital Deluxe Upgrade**

>If you’ve already prepurchased Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire, you can upgrade to the Digital Deluxe edition through the Black Lion Trading Company’s in-game store. You’ll receive all of the Digital Deluxe edition bonus items, including a Sunspear Outfit, Identity Repair Kit, additional character slot, and a permanent pass to the Lily of the Elon.

If you're not seeing the deluxe upgrade in the gem shop, contact customer support.

If you have other passes, no.

Also you can get other passes (permanent) with some luck, or with gems.

The luck part involves black lion chest rewards, Getting Season 1 commemorative boxes, get enough gears, and then buy a pass (25 gears). My brother got the Airship pass like that, he dropped 28 or something at once (uncommon reward) and bought the pass.

I have to add that the Lilly is a convenient way to get characters that haven't done the story onto the Desert maps.

The Lily is not the most convenient of the VIP areas if you want a pass for the services. It's laggier on load in and has things on multiple levels requiring you to remember which teleporter will take you where, plus stuff on the lower level is spread out around the ring so you must run a fair ways between, say, vendor and bank. (I am comparing to the marvelously compact Royal Terrace in DR here, which is my favorite for convenience except for not having an activity npc).

It is however super convenient for getting alts to Amnoon or getting a free wp to services while in the desert, though indeed you can get them there almost as fast using the Spearmarshal's Plea you get from doing the story once, they just have to hop from wp to zone portal to wp to zone portal. I don't regret having it myself but I wouldn't consider it the best use of scarce funds if the services aspect is the main interest you have in it.

You should have at least one pass, to majorly reduce the time and tedium of going back and forth to town.

Lily of Elon is super convenient because of proximity to Crystal Desert. And if you're going to do a lot of PoF content, which you should be since you're just starting out on the expansion, the pass is huge time-saver. (I use it like 30 times a day.)

I find the Lily of the Elon pass to very useful for the fact that any character regardless of level can just warp there without having to do any story whatsoever. I really wish there was something like that for Verdant Brink.

I'll occasionally also use it if I'm way over on the western side of the world. That's a bit of silver that adds up over time.

It costs 2,400 gems.

I actually preferred the version of the Lily of the Elon seen in the beta test, when it was two of those reed boats tied together. It was much more compact and easy to navigate. I'm still not sure if they were always planning to change it but didn't have the new version ready for the beta or if it's because so many people complained about the 'low' ceiling. (I've had my max height norn on the boat out in the bay and I think it would have been fine.)

As other's said it's pretty much the only way to get alts to PoF early in the game without doing the first mission. Unless your in a guild with the PoF guild hall. Then you can get anyone there easily and get them to the starting area quickly. Otherwise it's either do the first mission or finish the game and start the griffon quests.
