VocalThought.9835
With all the elite specialization speculation, I wonder how many elite specialization GW2 will have for this game. We know they can't stop at 2, but also they can't have 10 more. I guessing they might have 3 more to have a total of 5, and they could have one elite spec that roughly caters to each core spec in the game. What's your thoughts? JohnWater.5760
I guessing they might have 2 more to have a total of 4. So gw3 will come.

If they start working on gw3, I hope they fix gw2 so people can play Living World 1 beforehand. I hope they don't make GW3 anything like the New Adventures of He-Man. The timeframe they would be in might be too advance for my liking.

Chances of gw3 are quite small considering the state of competitive part of the game, unless it's a mobile game which I've heard devs are working on. Re-using weapons on new elites and having new weapon skills, maybe possible but, may not be worth creating that many elite specs.

There's no reason they can't re-use weapons, other than some players don't want them to do so. > Because every new ESpec also means a new expansion, as they are clearly an expansion feature. And even WoW doesn't have that many expansions, and probably never will. This game will be long dead before we reach 10, especially at this pace. I say we get 2-5(heavily depending on how the next expansion does in sales) more ESpecs in GW2 at which point we reach the end of active development and go into maintenance mode. ANet moves onto other projects, quite probably within the franchise though. My personal wish is a singleplayer RPG which radically expands on the world and lore of Tyria, and is in style more similar to Guild Wars rather than GW2. Etterwyn.5263
Any is too many. It's hard enough to balance what we have now, and I'm not looking forward to the next round of power creep.
Bashi.8902
they should just stop this elite spec bs and focus on different things. Every class has everything now we dont need a support thief with warhorn or a staff warrior that does 25k instant cast earthquakes as big as control points are. Stop it. Add some fun things. Maybe add a completely new class? Stop the powercreep. I cant imagine what this game will become in 3 years with 2 more expansions. Will greatsword axe/warhorn support bunker thief 1v5ing far be a thing? Pls no.
gonzi.7605
@bashi - you got lack of perspective. If everyone will be "OP" then... nobody will be "OP". Sure, thief might be as you said.. but so we can speak about guardian with D/D who gonna jump at you with radial blink killing you before you know what hit you. And where this "op" thief goes? Yea, so i thought :pensive:
Iustitian.9176
I hope there will be only one more elite specialisation, so every class has 3. These should cover all additional required gameplay areas. In addition, the number of available weapons is quite exhausted (see warriors). What the classes need: Warrior: Fast distance weapon (shortbow), more support Guardian: Holy strider with two swords, glyphs and virtue forms? Revenant: Caster weapon (scepter), minions (ritu-ghosts like in gw1 or the towers of the engi) or fast skills without support orientation Ranger: Defense or cc weapon (shield, mace or hammer), stronger pets (beast master class) Engineer: Area distance weapon (shortbow with modified arrows like marvels hawkeye), traps, battle armor mechanic at F5 (iron man ?) Thief: condition melee weapon (axe mainhand, sword offhand), combat improving stances like the "ways" in gw1, shadow Form mechanic (shadowstep with defense for a short time) Mesmer: Direct damage weapon (hammer, mace, dagger), weapon summons like ele (Chaos smith class), modified shatter skill (energy thorns) Elementalist: Defensive weapon (shield), manipulations (melt armour, ice chains...) Necromancer: Direct damage range weapon (shortbow), deceptions or chained soul-minions (like ritu in gw1), ghost shroud (Ghostly dark ranger)
Arcaedus.7290
I would predict one to three more if the elite specs are tied to expacs as they have been thus far. The devs are very talented and there is no doubt they could whip out 10 more sets of elite specs +expacs if they so wished but at the end of the day it comes down to money so I can't really picture them going beyond 3 more expacs. Lily.1935
3 would be optimal in my opinion. Although I doubt we'll get that far. 1 is most likely as I feel GW2's shelf life is coming to a close.

Stallic.2397
If they have a total of 3 elites, that would be enough. One of those elites should pay honor to the core profession. Powercreep is clearly never going away, so buffing core by simply creating an elite spec similar to core would be the best route. After all 3 elites are released, Anet should just start balancing the 27 elites. That's a pretty big task and could take quite a while; though, when they're done, the community would be greatly appreciative for it

narcx.3570
Unpopular opinion... But I don't think they should release any more Elite specs. Not only do they struggle to keep the specs we have right now balanced, but there's not a lot of completely original and coherent ideas left or roles to be filled within the scope of this game (Renegade should have made this fairly apparent.) If anything, they could maybe give each elite spec a second weapon to give people more variety and expand each prof's role a little further. If there *is* a new expansion, I think it would serve anet better to just make a new Profession rather than a new elite for the existing nine. This would only give them 2 elites to balance into the game and would still at least be something new for players. And while the general population would definitely be upset that their favorite character didn't get a new elite to be excited about, there's simply not too much you could even do for a lot of the professions that would even feel fresh. To start something from the beginning this big? I don't think so, they invested too much time and resources into this to go from the beginning, they will just add more things, like mounts just started, etc. it is a money-maker for them and to start a new game and lose on the old things not likely to happen, or who knows in how many years. Imagine the riot from 90% of the players who farmed for years to have over 10 legendary weapons, armor, and so on to go from the start. He has to give his negativity in any thread that mentions future e specs, or e specs that people would like to see, or ones that would be fun. People aren't allowed to be hopeful, or imaginative.
