Ascended Food : Need to be improve (for pve player raid - fractal - dungeons)

Recommended Posts

Actually we have on reddit the descripton of all composants to craft these recipes (I tried some) BUT the real problem is: is it really interesting in PVE ?

Maybe for meta event or in WvW but during raid or dungeon/fractals it's totally usuless why ? Because the passives are not interesting for raid or fractal, you need to improve the real statt it's ascended !

I'm not interesting by these passives statts which does not bring anything. Why I will craft this food really expensive if yet the time is only 1h00 ! And it's expensive.

Ok, if you are 5 - 6 Dps why not but the supports (chrono - fire - rene), war, druid ? Go take your normal food because it's too expensive for 2 people/ 1 person just for 1 boss. It's the same for the dps sometimes when you need condi and zerk like for VG and too maybe you will must change your food between 2 boss so why I will do this expensive food ? (no reason)

Actually you have created this food but you have not thought to the use in some game mode.

If you want return this food attractive you must update the real statts (like power, accuracy, heal ...) MUST BE ASCENDED

First, foods like [Peppercorn-Crusted_Sous-Vide_Steak](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/index.php?title=Peppercorn-Crusted_Sous-Vide_Steak "Peppercorn-Crusted_Sous-Vide_Steak") are basically the "healers" food cus it will add no more power to DPS (which is good, no more power creep) but will make the healers life easier since all players are taking less damage.

Second, it definitely is not expensive, just check how the ascended mats are droping in price fast and you don't even need to buy them. If you made the chef 500 collection you can gather everything you need daily to craft your foods with minor to 0 cost at all, and a raid is made of 10 players unless you are doing pugs you can organize who will bring food and even "share" costs.

To finish, just repeating what Lare said : Don't like, don't use, as for now they are not stronger than normal food and as so will not change your meta pve build.

Don't like, don't use isn't the logic of my topic the food can be use but she must have a viability in all mode of game so we include raid/fractal/dungeon. If you don't understand the real problem in PVE (raid/ fractal/dungeion) maybe it's because you don't pratic it. So you can take the easy way and said : don't use then but why create this food then ? just for a part of the community isn't the concept of the food.

the ascended food should last 2h at least. 1h is way too short.

I dont see ppl using ascended food when the cost of food with the same stats is available for a fraction of the cost. at the same time two of the normal food is still less expensive then ascended. given that you can give food to more ppl does not help much when different classes need different food/stats. which makes ascended pretty much useless in raids and fractals.

The reason of making asc food is their duration: 1 hour and possibility of sharing food with everyone. For this moment asc food doesn't work in raid instances (which sucks).

I'm glad those bonuses aren't "power creep", because we don't need more power. We are already overpowered.

I think they could make more of those bonuses, e.g:

+15% movement speed,

10% chance to remove condi on critical,

-30% incoming stun duration.

Some PvE feasts are currently cheaper for 4people than Sweet & Spicy etc soup is, for the same Power 100/Fero 70, plus an additional buff (e.g. less damage, steal health on crit, or health/sec). The [Cilantro Lime recipe](https://gw2efficiency.com/crafting/calculator/a~0!b~1!c~0!d~1-91805) (recommended above by @"CeNedro.7560") costs roughly 1.5g vs ~45s for the soup.

Typically, the market drops for stuff like this. TBD if that will be true for the cultivars, which are the main cost drivers.

You haven't bothered to check the cost of those ascended food items, have you? Because if you HAD (and not just assumed things, which, alas has become quite the thing nowadays) you woul dhave noticed that the ascended food items are downright cheap for what they offer. Even if you include the cost for compost to grow the special herbs. And, yes, party-wise it's a bit of a problem since a healer would like to output more healing and the dps guys would love to do more damage. That's why food made with peppercorn is a good compromise as it offers 10% damage reduction (less to heal for the healer) AND adds +power +ferocity on top.

In WvW where there are damage dealers and support, you can make use of two feasts - one damage redux + damage and one damage redux + healing/concentration.

All of that lasting one hour and for as many people as are around and at a bargain price (if you ignore the somewhat high upfront costs). The ascended food ONLY becomes expensive, when you're too lazy to farm or want to produce food to a greater extend than you can grow yourself and thus use the TP.

You also need to consider that BoSaSBSS has a timer of 30 min and the dish 1h. And when you get your own seed and meat(takes less than 5 min) it's almost free:

Some CandyCornPudding and glazed pear tart for fine, masterwork and rare extracts(less than 2 silver), one winterberry cake(3 winterberrys from daily homeinstance and some silver) for 10 exotic. 7 silver for compost starter. Limes for 77 Karma. Some copper for water and salt and you're done.

Highendfood for low.

Very good point that I neglected entirely.

> And when you get your own seed and meat(takes less than 5 min) it's almost free:

Unfortunately, that's not true. The goods needed to make the feast have a value, even if we didn't buy them. It's entirely possible that the value of the ingredients is worth _more_ than the value of the item being crafted. (That was often true for food last month, for example.) When comparing costs, it's not fair to ignore the value of the materials.

Actually the price is between 1-3po just for the part of ascended need for the food. If you are healer why take a food at 1-2po then you can take your normal food for 30pa = 30mn so 60pa = 1h00. I'm agree with some classes this work but not enough.

No, just no we don't need it some boss are fixe damages like green in VG,10% damage reduction isn't enough and it's viable only for druid or supp healer. (and was not really interesting maybe you can win 1-2k dps max).

The food is scaled to more than 10 people. It's not scaled for 10 people or 5 people content. 10% damage reduction ON TOP of bonuses you could get with regular food is already power creep. You are basically asking for more powercreep.

As far as power damage, this was already stated: Cilantro Lime Sous-Vide Steak Bowl of Sweet is a strait up upgrade to Spicy Butternut Squash Soup.

For condition damage there is a similar food available and given pve builds run Viper most of the time, it's again a strait upgrade to normal food.

Ascended food is non negotiable insanely cheap for WvW if calculated for the amount of players who can benefit from it. All it would take is a commander to ask for a small donation of 20-30 silver after dropping a food in publics. Not uncommon with siege equipment.

I'm sorry, all I see is you looking at ascended food from a singular perspective and treating it as though it was personal food. It's not and was not designed as such.

Wiki. You need:

Nourishments from salvaging other foods (rarity depends on food level)

Seeds (can be gathered from HERB nodes)

— Nourishments + seeds = special seeds for your garden.

Grow your plants in home instance (4 spots can be unlocked with collection).

New exotic ingredient that can be obtained from gathering or killing mobs or bought from TP.
