Size matters.

Recommended Posts

With all the new push for Norn and Charr I must say some changes need to be made.

The mount sizes for the 2 races needs to be increased even by just 10%.

It takes away the fun from the game when I ride my raptor with my Norn ranger or with my Charr warrior that are both max size and I look at my mount.

It feels like I am breaking the back of the poor creature making me feel pity at every step I make.

So yes size matters and I believe the mount scale size should be increased for these 2 races.

Well Norn & Charr could just use genetic modification or anabolic steroids to increase their mount sizes: It's done IRL: Even my Grandma is feeding anabolics to her pet raptor so she can ride to the shops faster for her tea and biscuits.

To be fair the Norn should be max sized. If you make them smaller you might as well just make a human. A small Norn Ranger would look like a max Human that would feel like a child for his race. So argument invalid. Sorry

Weapons and armor can be reforged. Creatures cannot.

Take this for example. Create a "realistic" Norn and put on him the ugly old face with the broken nose. Dye its hair gray like for old ppl and put him near another Norn hot female.

There is your answer because nobody want to see old dwarf porn in guild wars.

Correction

There might be some but that's another story.

So in your opinion its absolutely ok to subject pets to animal cruelty like overburdening right? Cool.

I will defensively will not leave my pet in your care ever.

We'll just have to do something about that, then. Anyone seen any mad scientists around?

I disagree. Even the Norn leader is mid-sized. You won't find any max size Norn NPCs, perhaps with very few exceptions (though I can't think of any off the top of my head).

While that might be true and I agree you have a good point there that still would basically force everybody that has a 7 years old Norn character to either delete it and make a new one (That will never happen) or to use a total makeover kit so that they could just make the characters feel natural when playing on a mount.

That is not a solution.

A simple 10 % increase in scale as the Original Guy/girl said would do the trick and not force anybody into extra expenses. Don't you agree?

That's wise. I don't even know you or your pet, nor do I run a kennel or day-care.

But look at these "pets". Do they look overburdened? Do they move or act like your size and weight mean anything to them? Does a Norn's Raptor struggle and strain? or does it trot and leap about as if you both were nothing? Does a Charr's Griffon flap harder or faster to keep aloft (when by all logic and physics, it should be)? or does it do what it does effortlessly no matter who is riding it? Do any of these creatures show any signs of stress or fatigue AT ALL? No, they do not. Animals can be trained and manipulated in a lot of ways, completely ignoring physical discomfort with no hesitation or outward signs is not one of them.

Besides, are you suggesting that we subject these living creatures to growth-enhancing steroids and technomagical genetic manipulation, potentially endangering their lives and overall health AND their genetic stability for future generations just because they look kinda small when bigger people ride them? and calling *me* "cruel"?

The current implementation already does this with the player size bar (and only the player size bar) affecting the mount size...

Even the smallest norn and charr are a bit over-sized on their mount, in fact, i bet the ratio of rider/mount size is exactly the same.

They would have to re-rig and check animations to change this, but they should have originally made that adjustment in the first place.

Just like a human can ask for a smaller sword to be forged from the blacksmith, a norn can ask for a bigger mount from the breeder.

And at the same time, mounts for asura could be trimmed down 10%.

Hell just give us a "Mount Size slider" of +/- 15%.
