Yeah some people claim that making us go back to previous zones makes it so those zones are more populated, but like a) at the cost of our fun, and b) only temporarily. Also it allows them to ignore the fact that there's very little reason to keep going back to a zone after doing certain content. So instead of making each zone worth going to (like a real incentive in the dailies or something), they just give us stupid grindy time-wasters.

I'm glad the grind is the only thing they adopted from other MMOs.

Exactly. People can drone on about how it's not a "real grind" because it's optional are just buying into the same garbage as usual. Just like mount skins, just like loot boxes, they're optional, so you're not allowed to complain. They put desirable things behind unpleasant methods (paying real life money or spending copious amounts of time doing only one thing) and then make it optional so you sheep will defend this terrible decision. Mounts were a huge point of PoF both in its advertisement and navigating the map. You _need_ some of them to do certain story stuff. Yet it's somehow justifiable to make a couple of optional ones and make them stupid annoying to get?

I've enjoyed the parts of the collection that had you helping Skyscales, collecting their eggs, hatching your own, playing with it, etc. because it's fun, there's some lore, and it's something that I could do without any strain. But for whatever reason in grindy MMOs (sorry but I've played GW2 since launch and earlier, and it's definitely way grindier than it used to be) things are perceived to have zero worth if you didn't suffer to obtain it, or if you didn't pay real money for it. What stuff do you see people showing off? Surely not dungeon armour, that's easy. You see people covered in legendary armour, back items, and stacked auras, atop their griffons with expensive gem store skins that were just released. Because of stuff like that, we can't just put a bit of time into a collection and have some fun earning it. You have to be a person that plays all day every day for weeks on end or someone who's willing to do that in order to catch up just to have something nice.

"Optional" in MMOs these days mean you'd better exhaust yourself physically and neglect your social life if you want it.

  3. People who say they have thousands stacked up must play every day for multiple hours. I can't go back in time and play more, and I can't sit here for 6+ hours a day to get the currencies in a timely manner. Like I've said before, the other collections for it I think were pretty good. Balanced with what you need to do and how long it takes. Then suddenly you need a huge amount of stuff that most players don't just have stacked up. I've been absent from the game since the beginning of LS4 because of a bug in one of the episodes, and only returned recently to bang them all out. The most I have of any currency is I think 30 and that's just Kralkatite, which is so meaningless that it's the only one you can get 250 of by doing the WvW track, where the rest give 50 I believe.

If I play the game like I normally do, I'll have it by this time next year, which is way too long. I'm physically incapable of playing for more than like 2 hours a day, and I can't guarantee I'd play every day.

This isn't even a grind anymore, it's putting things out of reach of casual players and again favoring the obsessive players that are online almost 24/7. Maybe it's because those people are probably most likely to be whales. Gotta keep the money coming in somehow.

  4. I will say my only beef with them is the weird way that dyes are applied to them, especially purples. If it's not a dark purple, it shows up pink or white. It's like it's mixing with a different layer of colour or something. I was trying to get it as close to the branded purple (like on the weapons for example) as possible but the ones I think would look right just end up looking like Electro Pink.

  5. I didn't bother with the griffon because of the 250g crap, but I was really interested in getting the Skyscale after looking at the collections. Needing 250 of each map currency is absurd compared to the rest of the unlocks. Go here, fight this, craft this, buy that, chase your Skyscale around maps, etc. are all on an equally doable scale. And then just a big FAT wall right at the end. I'm considering just zoning out through WvW to get them from the reward tracks because trying to gather every node and do every heart in every zone every day is so tedious and boring.

You said there was a technical issue preventing them from doing it, so it's not exactly unexpected to assume you know what you're talking about, and not just guessing. Back up your claims. Provide sources.

And they've been able to sell outfits and weapon skins as part of large bundles, yet somehow manage to make them available separately. Almost as if it's fully possible to have both.

I'd like to know what insight you have about why it's literally impossible for them to do it. What technical feats are too great for them to separate two items? Don't be afraid to get really detailed and complex. I'll try to follow.

  8. I've been waiting for over a year to be lucky enough to catch the God-slayer bow pack in the gem store, and as far as I can tell it's only been there once in the last year, conveniently when I wasn't playing.

I saw the Black Lion Vouchers and thought that was the key to finally grabbing it, but when I checked the list of skins, it looks like it's the only one that's purchasable in the gem store that's not there. Really ANet? Is it that special?

  9. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately?) that's not exclusive to being a new player. I've played since beta and have full ascended gear and have a lot of experience playing the game, and still certain areas of the PoF map frustrate me. There are so few pockets that are out of aggro range that are safe to stop in for longer than 2 seconds. And most of the time you get away from one group of enemies just to start getting chased by more.

People say it's supposed to be difficult, but it shouldn't be that annoying for everyone regardless of their experience.

    > I totally get it. The thing I wanted was up for only 7 days and I didn't even know.

I've wanted the God-slayer bow pack for an entire year now. It was available a few weeks before PoF was announced, so I wasn't interested in it because I never used bows. Then Renegade was shown and I wanted a cool short bow skin, and that's the one I decided on. Naturally, as far as I can tell it was only available once since then during like January? And I wasn't currently playing at the time. If it was available more often I would have bought it by now.

  11. "Vote with your wallet" does absolutely nothing unless you're spending your money. There's always those people that snatch up the new gem store items as soon as they're available and parade them through LA. Those people tell ANet that selling stuff at high prices and randomizing what you get when you make your purchase is financially beneficial to them.

Meanwhile, me deciding I'm not going to buy anything from the gem store anymore does _nothing_ to change the state of things. "Vote with your wallet" is a farce, and used to trick people into thinking they're getting something done by doing nothing and not saying anything, when it's just used to do exactly that; get us to do nothing and say nothing.

    >

    > Convert Gold to Gems = get it without spending real money.........

I don't think you understand. That's not unlockable through playing. I meant like from an achievement, doing a dungeon, raid, etc. It's not about the 'not spending money' part, it's the fact that I can only get a mount skin through the gem store, no matter how I pay for it. And if you seriously expect every player to be able to afford the ludicrous gold to gems ratio without playing every day for multiple hours, you must be daft.

That refers to in-game money too. Pay attention.
