    > This legendary armory thing better be free... and not a gemstore item that's attached to one toon and you have to buy 20 if you have 20 toons... that would kitten me off so bad.

Even if you do have to purchase it, make it Account-bound.

Not everyone has enough Legendary weapons to pass around to their characters to matter. I would just like to salvage my Ascended equals to make inventory space.

  2. What you are bringing up partially makes GW2 so confusing to beginning players and those who try to Min/Max without full understanding of the synchronicity of the stats.

It's one thing for a person to tell you which skills/builds to use for each type of game play, it's totally another to know HOW to use them in gameplay...that takes time, experience, and a bit of intuition.

Use http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/ to play with equipment sets to see how Scholar runes affect armor vs Berserker vs Viper vs Maurader. Or main hand weapons synch with off-hand.

Before you spend a ton on a complete set of Ascended Berserker armor/weapons/trinkets make sure the end stat results are what you want. You can stat change, but do it right the first time and save the time.

  3. I don't like the idea of teasing something that is more than 6 months out, unless they say it will be attached with an expansion or LS.

How long has there been talk of bringing Jeweler up to Level 500 or night-time effects to Kraitkin? And now the Legendary Armory has got people excited without a rollout timeline.

  4. Weapons that haven't been unlocked: Mace, Pistol, Sword, Hammer, Longbow, Rifle, and Shortbow.

    Off-hand only: Shield.

I can't see the shield for a necro.

Rifle/Pistol would be fun with the right skills, but I would rather see them with other professions.

A longbow/short-bow that rips the soul from the target on a crit may be useful.

  5. I've found Necro one of the best PvE roaming professions (along with the Dragonhunter).

I don't min/max, I go for weapons I think fit the character and maybe look cool doing so. I think my fire and ice (Frostfang /Incinerator) combo looks better for my character than swinging a huge greatsword like Twilight (even though I think that sword has some of the best animation).

  6. I opened a new account a month or so ago just for the fun of "playing the game from the start" again. I didn't realize how much I miss gliding and the mounts until I stepped off a cliff and went splat.

And all the skins/dyes I didn't have .... no mats to craft anything (I could have mailed them from account to account),

There really is a world of difference between starting a new character on an existing account and a brand new vanilla account.

  7. I think the next Necro Elite should unlock the HAMMER (or mace).

    Call it the Tormentor.

I can see one skill splitting the ground and releasing imps (or skeletons) to crawl over the enemy in a 450-600 AoE range causing random conditions such as Torment, Blindness, Fear, Immobilization, etc.

A whack to the head knocks down, interrupts skills, and causes confusion.

You can add your imagination for others.

  8. I rarely see people from my guild doing the same quests, pugs are so erratic, and you never know how many people will show up for a meta event.

One good part about the open-world gaming is I'm able to help players/groups without feeling like I'm stepping all over them for loot.

I would like to have an easier way to join active groups in WvW. I go in and ask if there are is anyone leading and all I hear is silence.

  9. I think we all know, or should know, that every weapon has a unique fighting style based on function. Whether the weapon is based on the style or the style is based on the weapon available is irrelevant to this discussion.

Like all weapon skins, the fighting style package would only provide visual differences for those who want a bit more "realism" in their MMO fantasy.

The problem is the time needed to program each fighting style, but once completed, it's finished and you only need to keep up on new weapon types as they come out. I don't see this happening for each weapon, but use analytics to determine which weapons are used the most and provide a package for those weapons to start.

I character who whips out their pistols in a flourish draw may add quite a lot for many players idea of who their characters are.

They already do something similar to this with the draw/stow animations for Legendary weapons.

  10. Wasn't there a short time when "Nevermore" was on the TP?

I makes no difference to me who has or doesn't have a Legendary and how they came about it. These days, there are so many out there I don't pay any attention to them anymore. Yes, that means they have lost their high-and-mighty status for me.

If they had stats above Ascended, now then I'd have a problem with the "pay to win" scenario.

I have both purchased (thank you to the person who crafted it for me) and crafted Legendary weapons on my own. I don't feel the ones I worked for have more intrinsic value than the ones I bought off the TP.

For those people who want to craft multiple copies of the same one, I do wish the precursor was able to be purchased (from Grandmaster Craftsman Hobbs) after the Legendary was completed. There are some precursors that can only be completed once per account due to achievements/goals/etc.

    > Unless I am missing something, The Armory won't help with this. It is only a place to store/share/equip legendary equipment. As far as I know, there is no news of actual new legendary items associated with it. Again, may have missed something, please educate me if I have.

I just meant I don't like current Legendary Gen 1 or Gen 2 short bows/hammers. I've got Gifts and other stuff to make a "Gen 3" short bow or hammer if Cantha offers a better skin that what I'm using today. Right now I'm using the precursor for Chuka (short bow) and Lightward's Battlehammer.

  12. I want to see all weapons a class is proficient in be available for their core class and Elite specializations.

The weapon that is unlocked with each ELITE is not the only one which is available for that specialization.

Why not allow a thief to use a staff or rifle with the core specializations? Or a longbow guardian?

Without adding any skills or professions, the potential new builds will keep people busy for quite a while.

  13. I would like to see race-specific minion skins.

Why would an Asura and a Sylvari summon the same looking creatures?

As for taking time out of other projects; how many entire runs of weapon skins do we see every holiday? or skins for mounts constantly being upgraded/updated?

It's not about taking time away from other projects, it's about not wanting to give something to one profession and then everyone wanting something "special" for their favorite profession. The old "Why did they get something and not me?" mentality.

  14. I had an old Revenant/Renegade Charr named "Pogrom Redclaw."

The backstory I had created for him, along with the game story, was a young warrior cub whose village was wiped out by those who wished to kill all Charr in the name of racial purity. He entered the Mists and came out a Revenant bent on helping those in need so no-one else would ever feel what he had gone through.

He chose the new name as a reminder that a "Pogrom" is a fight to wipe out racial/ethnic/religious groups and "Redclaw" because he wasn't afraid of getting blood on his hands.

The problem with the name is that a "Pogrom" is a term not only used in the generic term for ethnic cleansing , but has a specific meaning for the Jews in Russia from the early 1900s through to WWII. I didn't receive any notices, but took the character down anyway.

If ANET deems a character name offensive, they should provide a soul-bound name-change contract for free and lock the character in an instance until an appropriate name is chosen.
