  1. I've never looked at a character with a Gen1 Legendary and wondered if they bought it or crafted it themselves.

There would be many unintended consequences if they would all be up for sale: change in material prices on TP, fewer people in WvW to get Gift of Battle, fewer people joining in specific Meta events for collections, trains in HoT/PoF for map completion would lessen, the "Twice Told Legend" title and 25 AP would be easily gained, and more.

I don't have a problem with what people want to do with their own real money. I'm sure many people buy mats to get Ascended gear and temporary stat boosters both of which help them in the game with higher stats.

If people didn't want to buy Legendaries, people wouldn't craft Legendaries and put them up for sale. It's a matter of supply and demand and whether both people can come to a price agreement in the TP.

  2. Necro/Reaper is my #1 for going into new situations: massive health pool, minions act as meat shields, a staff for range damage and multiple other weapons for close/ melee fighting. It is a bit of a no-brain choice. You can relax and not worry about much and just let the character do the work.

My Guardian/Dragonhunter is more of a ranger than my ranger when it comes to using a longbow bouncing arrows off everyone and laying awesome traps. In fact, I rarely use my ranger anymore.

The Revenant/Renegade I use to run around and have fun calling down fire from above. (I was artillery in Desert Storm; Steel Rain saves the Day). My only wish was that they could use a longbow to reach out and kill someone.

A thief/Deadeye with dual pistols with repeat on Unload will unleash hell upon a single target, while the short bow (short on pure DPS) can spread a few conditions around.

The last two require a bit of situational awareness when dealing with mobs, but tend to do fine with veterans.

  3. I have chased many of the Legendaries. The ones I have characters that use the weapons; I have stayed away from the hammer, shields, warhorns, and underwater weapons or those I just don't like the skins. I may craft some of the Gen 1 and sell them to those who don't want to take the time and craft for themselves.

As for the look of Lion's Arch, I was just a surprised as many of you that it looked more like something out of Spongebob.

A while back, when talk of GW3 was beginning to ramp up, I had a suggestion of a way to reboot the game, get new player races and introduce a new threat after the dragons.

My idea was to use a final Living Story to have the new threat destroy each of the capital cities per chapter and end with Lion's Arch. The new beginning of "GW3" would be the rebuilding of new capital cities including, learning about the new threat, and discovering the races that are in the fight with you (tengu, dwarves, etc). Those characters created in GW2 would have the option of crossing over to GW3, but the ones created in the GW3 timeline couldn't go back.

Do I think it'll happen? Hell no.

  4. I've hardly touched the last two LSs.

Maybe I'm just not into the story, maybe I don't like changing "currency" with every new map, or whatever.

I'm happy with what I have up to PoF and am looking forward to the new, full expansion.

I enjoy map completion and stick to those main maps for materials, achievements, and collections.

  5. My favorite obby armor was Dervish, hands down. Elegant with small spiked balls on chains to keep adversaries away as they whirl around in their dance. But ... we don't have a Dervish in GW2 :'( .

I agree that additional unique exotic (or ascended) sets to craft or discover would be welcome.

  6. I'm working on a story-line that requires me to participate in one of the Outpost Meta-events. In order to get credit for completion, how many of the individual events do I need to be involved in? And do I need to participate in a certain percentage of those individual events?

The hardest part is arriving in time to get there on-time with a group that will stay for the entire Meta; it's definitely hit-or-miss.

Sometimes I forget to check the Event Timer (my fault totally) or I'm involved in something else time consuming that I can't just step away from.

  7. I've used tentonhammer.com for leveling my crafting 0-400 on all my characters. It tells you how much you need to buy from crafting merchant and how many mats you need to farm/buy from TP.

    **For the Artificer:**

  8. There are times when I'm trying to find consumables of a certain "value" and my bank is full of food, oils, stones, and other items. I'd like to be able to search for items that fit what I need either by level or attribute combination.

Right now if I put in "50" to find food for Level 50+ character, I get back not only some of my Level 50 foods, but anything I have that has a stack with a "50" in it or boosters with a "+50%".

It's not real annoying, but just a QoL issue that I think would help people with large or full banks.

    :)

Sometimes I end up in the former category; spending quality gaming time trying to figure out the best method to craft my next precious. Should I buy components and mats, or just go out and farm them on my own and get a bit of Exp along the way.

I almost always default to gw2efficiency.com for most of my crafting questions; buy on TP vs Craft wholly and buying mats vs farming. It comes down to quality of time gaming.

    > Been AFK very long time in middle of mobs spawn area is not normal gameplay. Why they don't just put minion in 2 (or 5) min timer like elementalist summoners? That way player needs to be active to keep the "Minions" live. Same can be done for engineers turrent and so on. Only issue would be rangers pet, but that's only one pet. Only classes I have seen doing AFK farming are mostly necromancers and a few engineers.

Changing the MM necro the way you describe would essentially mod it back to GW1 status where minions continually lost health and you had to exploit a "fresh" corpse to create a new one.

    > Everyday the same players are standing around the log farm in Malchor's Leap AFK with their minions and pets farming mobs, just like the same bums you see standing around the convenience store.

So you're saying they're NOT social distancing. :o

I think a better solution would be to have minions "die" and pets "go hide" after the character hasn't moved for ~10-15 minutes. I have two dogs and two cats that demand attention, so I go AFK for a few minutes to play with them or feed them. I will usually hover with the Skyscale or go to the "Change Character" screen (if I have consumables counting down).

Right now only 6 professions (base necro, Reaper, Scourge, base ranger, Druid, and Soulbeast) have this "built-in" exploit. That's ~22% of the playable professions, but what percentage of the active player base use one of those professions? And how many of those regularly "abuse" the exploit enough to make a dent in the economy of the game?

I play necros quite a bit and enjoy the ability to solo areas where I can't with my Renegade, Deadeye, or warrior. I will almost guarantee you that MM Reapers and mesmers with their clones are very popular professions for just that reason.

Either I haven't been around the areas you are describing or just don't see it as a big enough issue to upset the entire GW2 Universe.

Regardless, I'm down-voting the idea because: It would negatively impact too many people (including me) for the amount of gain a few people would see. There are plenty of areas for you to "farm" whatever it is you are looking for.
