  1. Honestly the main way I make gold is by doing JP ports, particularly in the Chalice of Tears. I don't charge or anything or even ask for tips, but people are nice enough to do it anyways. I do it because I like helpin ppl out and I have enough Mesmers I can afford to leave them there. As an example though I made 25g two nights ago porting up about 6 people in 10 minutes right before I logged. They all said thanks, and last night when I logged in I saw 3 had sent me mail with tips. Not the best way but I get to help ppl out and I'm not in dire need of money anyways I guess. ^^"

I don't think new races are needed, let alone inevitable. Would I buy a new expansion for that? Yes but only to support the game itself, as I do love the game, however I'd be disappointed in the direction it took. I have 42 characters and I adore lore and fashion wars but I would not want this waste of resources.

    > >

    > > Now as for what I've seen in this thread there are some incredibly logical arguments for why a new races should not be added. Is it possible? Technically yes. Would it require rewriting/adding things to every portion of the game, creating new starter maps, voice lines, racial abilities, changing the lore, and making sure all current armors could fit them? Yes. That is a huge load, maybe even more than an expac, all for a very small addition to the game. I would much rather get more skins, new maps, and improvements to our current game modes any day, not because I "hate more fun and flavor" but because I see what a waste of resources it would be.

    >

    > No i did not read through literally every single reply. I am not required to do so, and you are not a forum moderator. Now that that is out of the way, unless you work at ANet you can't determine in any way whatsoever what is a 'waste of resources' for them. At all. Everything you stated is all your opinion, and that's fine. But for you to assume authority and sit in an ivory tower and cast down your gavel of judgement on what would constitute a 'waste' is utterly subjective and absolutely not up to you. I guess a choya pinata tonic, kite skins and 'costumes' are all 'not a waste' but adding something as amazing as a new race that quite a few people would like, is a waste. Gotcha.

    Alright it's going to be one of those discussions I see lol. First I'm gonna do you the courtesy of ignoring all that ivory tower stuff and other dramatic things as I don't want to waste time on it. Now moving on from there your eyes are correct, I am indeed not a forum moderator. Also correct is that you do not have to read through all the replies that responded to you. However you did say;

"So far, all I'm seeing from people for there not being another race added is, "it's like, super haaaaaaard tho" "

So you said all you were seeing from people is that it would be hard. At this point I highly encourage you to go back and actually read the replies as I can ensure you there was plenty more than that.

Now to the next point. Once again good for you you are correct, I do not work for Anet. However I do have the wonderful ability to think so there are some things I can assess. If I see someone drive down the road throwing money out their window I can say that is a waste of money. If I see someone buy food then throw it away without eating I can safely say that was a waste of food. Part of what I said was indeed my opinion, I even said that explicitly, but a good bit were things Anet would have to do. That is not an opinion. And, once again, I invite you to read through the replies to *your* thread and see how people write out well thought out, knowledgeable replies to why they think Anet will never bother with a new race, despite the fact that at least one of these threads pops up every month.

You have a good day now, and I truly do hope you take the time to read your own thread.

    >

    > Not to mention every good commander I've ever run with sends someone to tap the nearest waypointed Keep prior to an assault on a structure. Why would you want to remove one of the all-too-limited tactical options from gameplay?

^^^ This. Tappers should not be that big of a problem. They can be an annoying inconvenience, but so can most anything in WvW. A enemy blob rolling over a map, the zerg waypointing right as I run across the BL to get to them, being repaired into a wall, that thief ganking you for the 3rd time on your way back to the zerg. All of these things can be annoying, but that does not mean they should just be removed. Tapping is a tactic in WvW, and not a hard one to figure out. Don't try and take one of the interesting elements out of WvW to dumb it down just because you personally find it annoying.

This is one I'd be curious to know the cause of as well; it's super frustrating for people!

Really? Huh that's good to know it's the first time I've heard that, I'll have to keep that in mind.

I must say I'm rather curious about what causes this bug. As a fellow portal mesmer I've ported a good number of people to the top of this puzzle as well, yet to my dismay have had a number of them not receive credit even after multiple dives due to something gone wrong on their end, even though they made the dive. I hope that isn't the case for you and it is just a one time thing, but i'd love to know the cause.

Well generally speaking most people don't transmute something unless they want the new skin, otherwise they could just preview it in the wardrobe and not waste a trans charge. And since if for some reason you transmuted then decided you didn't like the new choice you'd made normally you can always transmute it back. I've never really seen people call the system bad though, it's considerably better by a lot than what's in a lot of other games in terms of fashion and customization.

  8. Ah sorry friend if I had seen this earlier I would have offered to guide you through it. I keep 6 mesmers posted at that JP so I can port chain people through every checkpoint in like 5-10m, though I don't often see people who need it anymore so I only check in a few times a week to help the random passerby and then swap back over. Knowing there are people who need it I suppose I could start advertising when I do it for ppl in LFG.

Also congratz on getting Ember Bay Master, an good luck if your going for the legendary trinket~ ^^

  9. Frankly I would be lying if I said I _really_ cared about participation, however I still don't support this change. There are already so few reasons for people to defend and defenders have it hard enough as it is. Guilds who defend pay for the tactics they slot, the siege they build, and they spend hours of their time running yaks and defending objective just so it can finally get to T3 and _maybe_ then once theres a wp and its fully sieged someone will come to defend it if for no other reason than waypoints are good and everyone hates walking.

So basically whoever has the biggest blob wins and people who actually like defending or having objectives get screwed lol

    > And you know what sucks? Gift of battle sucks, ask anybody. Everybody has to join this running simulator, spend there ~6h just to get that gift for a legendary weapon. Now it's your turn to join our realm to claim legendary.

    >

While I will say I wouldn't mind getting a chance at the raid armor, I don't mind that its locked behind raids and can accept that if I ever want it I'll do the legwork for it. That's all well and good no worries in my book. But then there's this comment lol. You can literally come into WvW once a day, do your dailies like flipping a sentry or taking a camp and pretend your in PvE, and leave 10-15m later and be done with the GoB by the time you collect all your other materials probably or soon after, and thats putting in the bare minimum. You don't have to contribute anything to your server, and honestly odds are by the way you talk about it you probably didn't and may have even been a rallybot for an enemy assailant during a fight. You can come to the world of WvW, not contribute a thing, and be done in very little time. To say "now its your turn to join our realm to claim legendary" I mean....have you made a legendary? You know that unless your just rich enough to outright buy one a lot of what you do is PvE right? And heck then there's the new ones, there's no way to buy your way out of the PvE there you have to do it. I'd trade you 5 GoB for a GoE any day if I could but I can't however I am pretty sure I'm included in the phrase "ask anybody" and no, Gift of Battle is not what sucks for me.

Also I'll stop there as I don't want to detract or derail the thread, just had to comment on that I couldn't help it.

    > Let's apply it to PvE too. I think I should be able to force myself into ANY organized Raid, click 1 a lot, and win. Nobody should be able to tell me no, I should not have to get better, or bring a useful class/spec/gear. We should all get participation trophies, we're all #1 right?

Thank you for giving me something to smile at after reading the cringe that was this thread. I happen to see a WvW thread in the general discussions forums and thought "oh hey heres something new" and I find this. Good gosh theres so many fragile feelings thread being made about WvW lately, what is the deal.

Side note to throw in my 2 cents while I will agree that commanders saying they don't want X class is a little sucky as others have said it is their squad and they do have reasons. You could always run with them out of squad, roam separately, or join another tag/tag up yourself though. Personally I've been playin WvW actively on my server for years and never experienced this, though I suppose that might change when the alliance system kicks in. Dwayna knows some of the threads I've been seeing lately like this one fill me with some fear when I think of who I may be paired with...

    >

    > So yeah, if you have a way to get the vouchers without RNG (I don't know if they are individually sold), then gold>gems>vouchers will help.

Unfortunately they are only able to be acquired through the RNG of black lion chest, so thats still a factor you would have to deal with. Now on the bright side theres some cool stuff in the chest right now so it wouldn't be a bad time to invest in them at least. ^^"

  13. I'm currently at around 42 characters (with a slot, tomes, and armor set already picked out for number 43 to be made lol) and I just kinda make whatever fits a theme. I have more Mesmers than anything, 11 total, because they're just so useful for covering jumping puzzles and I've always been rather fond of them. They can also be fun in WvW for roaming or infiltrating enemy objectives.

  14. Honestly I ran into the same problem because I figured hey, I've already done PoF map comp, may as well complete the PoF gift (trying to make Ipos as well lol). Once I realized the cost in mosaics though I did a 180 and reluctantly decided I'd be better off doing HOT map comp rather than trying to get those mosaics. =/

  15. The 3 weapons our community voted on in the contest a while back, when will we see them or get some more information on how they'll be acquired? Have I missed some information on this or has it just not been announced yet? Naturally it takes time to make them in game I'm sure, I'm just really curious and excited to see them in game. X3

    > I'm sorry, but it makes me cringe when i read answers like "You can buy from TP", people cmon... think that through, before any gliph can be sold in the TP they need to be obtained from BLC which are RNG.... It's not like they magically appear in the TP, also they cost a lot of gold, not every one is a gold farmer.

    >

    > The OP point is, "I don't want to spend 1k gold or whatever in gliphs in game, and i also don't want to gamble for it"... which i agree.

And not everyone gets to have **everything**. That point aside by your logic how is it any different from rng drops out in the world? Maybe I want the Bench of the Final Judge item or the confetti infusion. These items are both related to rng, neither is a guaranteed drop, yet both are sellable on the TP so they could be bought that way. If _you_ don't want to gamble and spend your money on BL chest thats fine, but if _others_ want to and decide to sell theirs well theres your alternative way right there. You can buy the glyphs for gold without ever having to spend a dime, or you could just not get them and continue playing the game just as you always have.

  17. Hmmm....debating between mesmer focus 4 and mesmer GS 5 because I've gotten some real good environmental kills in WvW and EOTM with those. Not to mention Skyhammer in PvP back in the good ole days lol.

Lich Form used to be a fav of mine because you transform into this giant spooker and blast people to dealth. Now would probably be mesmers portal, its just such a wonderful skill x3

  18. Hm correct me if I'm wrong by all means but the last legendary hammer, Sharur, didn't have a melee attack animation either did it? Only a projectile one. And it doesn't have the same animation as a gemstore dagger as, to my knowledge at least, no gemstore dagger or other weapon skin for that matter has a legendaries effects, footfalls, or such a significant draw animation so it is indeed still set apart. Now is it possible Anet might think this needs an update? Sure. It wouldn't be the first time they've updated the effects of a legendary after all. I'm more just pointing out that I don't think its appropriate to blame Anet and call what they released unfinished.

  19. But it also has effects Incinerator does not have, such as the draw animation. And you did get a legendary, with all the benefits of one technically, you just have buyers remorse essentially because you decided to make it without taking a hard look at it first. People who crafted it almost instantly posted videos showing how the dagger looked doing various skills so the information was out there, don't blame Anet because you decided to spend a ton of gold without fully researching first.

    My main point was correcting what you referred to as realism within the world of Tyria. The fact that some of us play as you said "talking cats" or "walking plants" doesn't matter because that _in the world of Tyria_ is normal and doesn't make sense as a justification for adding cross over hairstyles. Now to an extent I do agree that they could appreciate one anothers culture or styles now that they're more integrated with one another as I posted previously;

    > @"Moonlit.6421" said:

    >...Humans could I guess model their hair after some sylvari styles for instance, but some just aren't feasible. Same for how the charr interweave metal into some of their hairstyles for instance. I could see there being a few similar hairstyles modeled in the fashion of another cultures but doubt it would or should go any further....

And something like that I would have no real problem with as it does at least have some reasoning behind it then, its not just "here have this for the sake of having it."

  21. > @"Ardenwolfe.8590" said:

So any complaints about 'realism' is pretty much out the window when it comes to something as minor as hairstyles.

    >

    > Just to keep it in perspective.

If you think about in from the perspective that in the world of Tyria these are all normal things so they are well within the realm of realism and, just like in any culture, particularly cultures as different as the 5 races we can play, it makes sense that they each have their own distinct styles.

  22. Welcome to the forums my friend. It sounds like you and your friend are going to be in for a fun time. Lets see looking at your post I'd like to first thank you for including enough information that people know exactly what you want help on and what your asking, its rarer than you might think lol. Secondly for doing open world PvE you really can't go wrong as most anything will work, and each of your two choices has its own advantages. Rangers have pets that can facetank stuff while you kite from afar and once you unlock druid your potential for support gets a lot higher and they're capable of excellent heals. Mesmers are, in my opinion, more fun to play however and offer their own utility in the form of stealth, a selection of boons, and the ever amazing portal ability (which you will get down on your knees and praise Dwayna for whenever you get to a hard jumping puzzle). As Oglaf said above me as well Guardian is a great alternative, particularly firebrand. You can build tankier and give strong support and boons to your allies while still dishing out decent damage, or you can go more dps oriented and just give moderate support through your added boons and utility, however you'd like to play. Point is there are lots of different options.

  23. Seeing as it sounds like your a little new to the mode it may be in your best interest to find a WvW guild on your server. Not sure which server your on but most every server has a few good ones floating around who are always recruiting. They can help show you the ropes like where your class fits best and how to play it, what you should be running and how to get it, where and when to use siege, what different things on the map are, and the finer things of WvW and you'll learn more through playing with them than you will as a random pug on your own.
