  1. Holosmith is currently one of the meta dps classes, Condi holo is also good for raids but the learning curve is really high.

Scrapper is a meta support for WvW.

Core engineer isn't played in pve, there is only a condi engineer rotation but the learnign curve is even harder than condi holo for even less damage outpot.

  2. I'm a CM player, I do CMs + T4s on a daily basis, 1250+ ESS.

I usually introduce and train guildies to do CMs, and even if we struggle in some mechanics, it ends up being manageable by clarifying how to move through attack, when to use your resources (SAK) and breaking ccbar the boss in the right moment.

However when it comes to Siren's Reef its always a huge mess, when I pug with a decent CMs group, everything usually goes smooth except for Arabella, i'm not prideful cocky enough to deny I do struggle with that boss, most of the time we don't wipe there, but damn we have a bad time with the constant slow/freeze ranged spam and all the AoEs you have to worry on top of Arabella stun cone attack.

For a fractal to require specific/carry comps so you clear it as smooth as other fractals talks about how badly designed it is. Its not fun.

Good news, the Unbreakable Tools are gonna be on sale this August 13 with 50% off.

  4. I know a total overhaul of the "fashion" panels has been asked several times before. But regarding the dye panel which is the thing that takes the most out of my fashion time, I want to suggest, or even remind, that we could use a little modification on how to select or preview dyes.

Right now you have to slect a Dye, then you hover over the dye slot on your equipment, I want to suggest that you make this the other way around, by selecting a dye slot, then hovering over Dyes.... It would make picking the proper dyes waaaaay easier.

I'm tired of having to do this mouse motion over and over, click and click, just to end up overwhelmed at how annoying it becomes after a few minutes.

  5. Not to sound rude but what's the point of this thread if there is already a guide/benchmarks of condi and power holo in the most optimal scenario?

1.- Condi holo requieres more precision on skill rotations over power holo.

2.- There is absolutely reason to play condi holo over power holo in some raid encounters where condition damage is favoured.

    > Sylvari can turn into a moss tree or plant monster while an asura can become a golem ? Idk it could probably work . Guild wars 1 we had norn racial skills. It could prob work for guild wars 2 if done right.

    >

Excuse me, Asura doesn't turn into a golem, they **ride** a golem.

  7. First of all, I suggest you to have a simple understanding on normal scale 100 and 99

I have two options for you :)

1.- Open up a CMs party yourself, ask for 25 or 50 ess, and look for the usual (hb, alacrigade).

2.- Fake your ESS by generating a code and join low ess groups, just do fine and you'll get away with it.

CMs are hard, good thing is that there are a lot of experienced players, but when 2 or 3 people are unexp on CMs it can take way too long and give you lots of frustration, specially on the overwhelming Arkk battle, so make sure you at least have decent understanding of the normal T4 fracs.

  8. Problem probably is that we've spend almost half a year with only 2 maps (with the excuse of 'expanding them' on new episode), although Bjora isn't really a type of "map wide meta" you really get tired of it right after you complete the chore achievements of completing 30 times each event.

With the normal format we would have 5 maps by now in 5 episodes. But now we only have 4 episodes and an intermission episode, with 2 maps and a hub, its underwhelming, i'm absolute done with Bjora and pretty sure I won't ever go there unless I decide to complete the only achievement i'm missing of beating Drakkar 15 times lol

    > I would hardly call Smodur a "great character". In both the personal story and Season 2, he had very little interaction and screentime, and what little interaction there was, was ultimately a 1-dimensional stereotypical military officer personality.

Having no much screentime doesn't mean the character isn't relevant at all, Smodur was a VERY important secondary character, we're talkign about an imperator, and let alone, the imperator of the most -relevant- legion, at least on the player's perspective (Having the main CHarr city under his command) and as today, we don't know anyone else cappable to carrying out the duty of being the Iron Legion Imperator. Malice mentioned Mia Kindleshot would be a good candidate to lead Iron Legion troops in Smodur absence, but she's a charr we haven't seen much about, only thing we know is that she helped with the Ebonhawke Treaty and was present in representation of the Charr in the Caudecus's Manor story dungeon.

ANother thing is, Smodur was the only charr with true potential to become next Khan-Ur and it was further proven with the Imperator Correspondence #3 (thank you anet, at least you left a good image of him), even though the playerbase saw him as some ahole for how he behaved during this war, its exactly what would make a good khan-ur, weed out the bad influence, no mercy for defectors, command the war under his absolute order, only thing missing was having the Khan-ur articles and winning everyone's respect which could have achieved by winning the war against Frost Legion, he expected support from the other imperators instead of seeing them as competitors.

I admit I made this thread just to blow off some steam since being killed that way after forcing a character to act all smug and arrogant to the audience's eye was kind of a bad move. I mean, judging by some comments in this and other threads, peopel started to dislike Smodur for the same reasons, but not everyone saw him the way @"Kossage.9072" did (good post btw) and only went to the superficial behavior., which saddends me in a way. It added some spice to the story, yes, but anet made the audience side up with the PC allies in their impossible quest to recover his precious cub in the middle of a war threatening a race and commanded by him.

    > > Offtopic, I think charr player characters have lost the most out of all races. It starts with you losing 5 warband members, and as soon as you move to join the orders, you have to part ways as the leggionaire of your small newly made warband. I don't think other races had to leave so much behind in order to join in the battle against Zhaitan.

    >

    > I am honestly still surprised how the Charr player's warband never showed up in the Zhaitan arc. Considering the Pact during the Zhaitan Arc was literally gathering every single asset from all races to join them beyond the pact, heck they got the Human Origin story characters to return for one of the Zhaitan Arc story path, to fight Zhaitan.

Uhm, you get Galina and Snarl to help you, which are characters from the Iron Legion Charr Storyline. You have to "recruit them" on the Vigil Storyline though. not sure if that's a requisite to see them on the battle against Zhaithan and in the lv80 ending.

  11. Its pricey because its rare.

Do the JP everyday for 4 months, it takes from 5 to 20 minutes depending on how skilled you are on jumping puzzles. Risk of not getting the item since its just a probability.

    Or

Do a silverwastes meta daily, it takes 1 hour, but you can do it for 1 month. The gold per hour is around 55g iirc, if you do it for 36 days, you'll make 55*36 = 1980 gold. You use this money to buy the smoke shamn tonic from the TP, and its garanteed.

If an item is so expensive is because its so rare its not even worth it to try to gamble and get it yourself, you're most of the times better getting or saving up money to buy it from the TP. instead of repeating the same thign over and over in hopes you win the lottery. IMO items like these are more expensive than their value on the TP since the chances of getting it is really low and very unrealistic.

  12. > @"Josiah.2967" said:

    > Buying the legendary directly is still statistically cheaper on average. I don't see a problem.

    Concur.

BLC also gives home instances nodes and permanent bank/tp/vendor contracts which gives way more advantage over people than just getting one single precursor boye.

And by everyone's logic here, you can p2w your precursors too. Invest 25usd on gems, trade to gold, buy precursors from TP, easy.

    > All three hint (some very heavily) that they are indeed Steel Warband recruits from the vision, and the story is basically that while the Commander was away, Bangar, Steel, and Jormag got their hooks into them.

Nice, this is a good insight. I was thinking on how lame it was from anet just putting your old warband members as enemies and make you kill them just to dispose of these neglected story characters. but now it makes sense. its really appreciated to have some backstory of such minor characters.

Offtopic, I think charr player characters have lost the most out of all races. I don't think other races had to leave so much behind in order to join in the battle against Zhaitan.

  14. *Warning, Episode 5 spoilers ahead*

After playing this new episode it makes me wonder, is this easy to assassinate targets in Tyria? you can pretty much be a deadeye/pick a sniper rifle and kill anyone you desire and still get away with it as long as you keep yourself stealthed. This assassination was very anticlimatic in that way, any other character in GW2 died in specific and tyria-realistic ways like being captured/cornered, or taken by surprise. but just being killed by a sniper shot while there are hundred of deadeyes roaming around and precisely no casualties reported from them, how come ryland, from all people, suddendly had the bright idea of "what if we use a sniper to kill this person".

  15. Came here to play as Charr, I was between Warrior, Engineer.

Warrior is a cliché class on most mmorpg.

Checked a showcase video of animations and skills of every class, fell in love with engineer, rifles, turrets, grenades. Very unique for a fantasy rpg. I also read that they are hard to play so it was like a challenge accepted.
