This spec basically is "a mechanic who builds mechanical units to aid him". > > That is **literally** what the scrapper is. But instead of mechanical minions with different shapes, he has gyros to aid him which share a general design with nuances based on their function. I can not agree that something that just repeats what another elite spec already did is "thematically superb". Gyros are just glorified wells. Intially they weren't but I assume that for the sake of simplicity it became this way. As is stand, engineer has no minions that follows them around and fights for them. Like I said, I want core engie and turrets to be fixed. However. They admitted defeat on the minion part by changing them into wells, and if they don't fix turrets then that's two defeats. If they add minions then they need to make it into a win. That seems to be the issue here, nobody thinks they actually can.

I think you should have both. Not everybody wants to team up with strangers for all the content, and some just are not the soecial butterfly who makes enough friends to always have people to rely on. Balance is hard, as it usually is, but it seems to me ANet are trying to find a middle ground. The vast majority cannot solo legendary group events for instance, and those who can are honestly skilled to the point where they've earned it.

For example, you can't have separate lists for the different zones, or cities, it was a suggestion back at release to improve this feature but it never happened. As for the thread's topic, the playlist you are looking for is called "Defeated", make your own playlist with that name, put it in the Music folder and you will listen to that instead of the vanilla sound. > > > > You can find more information/details on the wiki: > > https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Customized_soundtrack > > Don’t know why the thread is still ongoing. This post should have #/thread. Because there's some people who think they are being funny by saying "don't die lol". Which in itself is a more hysterical fact than probably anything they could come up with.

This would just be the side benefit to having sound customization. > > Also, by "your", I'm not referring to the entire playerbase. I mean literally only you, since you're the only person to fabricate some reason to complain about video game death music. "Fabricate" Yes, that's what OPINIONS are. Thank you for pointing out the obvious, hope it made you feel better.
  5. Like Braham, they need to own their mistakes.
  6. Biased how? There is a totally content, a totally miserable, and three degrees of both between. And nothing was unfair about the aspect race, I was there. Same course, nobody had access to any sort of movement skills of self buffs. It was literally just the aspect skills and your own skill.
  7. Yep. You can go partake from Divinity's Reach. It ends in 4 days.
  8. The oligarchy having too much power over the market, eh. Yeah, I agree that is something you need to keep an eye on.

  10. That's fine. Like I said, I don't even want to be a glass cannon. It's no fun to me to be downed in a few hits, and this does tend to happen since I like to fight a lot of enemies at once, and meta battles are so full of visual clutter anyways that it's hard to tell what is even going on well enough to dodge all the things that can squish you. I guess you could say a casual damage build or something. Thanks for the input, berserker gear is not cheap but also nowhere near as expensive as viper of trailerblazer. I don't mind more suggestion though, class crafting is fun =) This said, necromancer has a lot of conditions. You are not supposed to get condition damage? I find it tends to be more reliable than direct damage since some enemies are well armored.
  11. It's like the game thinks it can just smooth over what just happened with some calming music. I don't want to be soothed, smoothed, or calmed, I want to get up, as you said, and take revenge. To me it's a musical way of saying "it's no big deal, relax". It is a big deal to me and I will NOT relax. Yep, might sound childish but that's how it is to me. Music is different to people. What it is to us is individual and hence it's "in your mind" for EVERYONE.
  12. Maybe Snaff, since we've briefly interacted with him when he and Eir was out of the mists. I'd be down for a legend that is about inventions and summoning golems, maybe even ride one. I realize he is not stricly Canthan but then agains, Glint was a dragon, not a desert nomad. Iunno, I just don't find the idea of a samurai very appealing.

No more dragons please, I'm sick of killing them... > > Well, the expansion's title is "End of Dragons", so naturally it will be about the Elder Dragons. > > I just wanted to add a reminder that Path of Fire managed to build an interesting story around the boring Elder Dragon theme by adding a rogue god that threatens the very life of the locals in a region where a lich has established a dictatorship. So there are ways to add additional stuff to the main theme and thereby make it more interesting. Ergo, there is hope for Cantha. ;) Indeed. I like how they spent an entire story arc setting up exactly what Kralkatorrik's place in the world is and why Balthazaar wanted his head, and the way the dragon himself popped up in the final fight and absorbed the power from the god, that transitioned very neatly into the terror of an elder dragon on the warpath and just how urgent a defense was. Proper preludes enhances the stories about the ED's, no doubt about it.
  14. Sorry to say, but dragons are what the GW2 story is about. Just look at the logo. If you got a problem with them being more than simple hungry beasts for righteous heroes to slay then you are probably in the wrong place. Also, complaining about them "talking" is just... such a strange complaint. Why would they not? They are ancient creatures of great power and intelligence. Also, only Mordremoth and Jormag really "talked". And that's because they are the two most intelligent ones, the former being about mind control and the latter being about deception. Zhaitan had nothing to say, Primordus only wants to consume, Kralkatorrik only spoke at his deathbed to his granddaughter, and Aurene is RAISED by Tyrians so of course she communicates with them. We have had mindless dragons that only existed for us to slay in the name of the righteous. We now have one that is benevolent and one that is deceptive and intelligent. Get with the times. Bottomline being, they do not exist purely for being forces of nature and a crisis scenario to fight against eternally. ANet clearly wants them to be more complex than that. I for one think it makes them more interesting.

I have specced my renegade rev to be a survivable and it still hits pretty decently for being nowhere close to optimized for damage. It's... really not in any way a weak class. Your self heal is absurdly good with battle scars, you can do amazing aoe and control with Kalla's warband and your shortbow, and you can do great support both from renegade and herald with buffs to fury and might. Being able to give a whole group in meta on demand 15 might stacks and an aoe field that both amps their damage and allows them insane self heal is no joke either. There are also times when it helps a lot to have an anti ranged shield. Revs dominate the field of saying no to projectiles, outdoing even guardians. While this is limited application in groups, it can sometimes be a downright blessing solo, and also if you use planar protection from the heal with protective solace and your hammer shield then you can stay protected from missile basically forever while still dishing out damage. > > Renegade is not Revenant in whole. > > Revenant as core if pretty much bottom of everything, while herald can be a bit better, but still nowhere near "being not a joke". > > Renegade is extremely overtuned. 10man alac, 5man 25might, extreme group lifesiphone, extreme usage of battlescars, epic burst damage etc. being bad without elite speccs is nothing new. And many revs I see use herald because of the facets.
  16. What's terrible about getting more damage on your 1 in holo forge?
  17. While I don't have anywhere close to the stuff to get legendary stuff, it's crazy how much more burn damage you get just from switching the traits around and from the elixir. I don't get the point of having the corona configuarion though. The shield is negligeble without hitting multiple enemies, and in the scenario of multiple enemies, are you not capable of simply rushing them down? The power of what you are rocking deffo suggests you are. Anywways, good tips, made things better for me =)
  18. Uh. Rev is one of my fav classes to play. I have specced my renegade rev to be a survivable and it still hits pretty decently for being nowhere close to optimized for damage. 19. Pick an easy favorite pick, like the skritt, to start with and show you can make it work, then work your way to the more obscure ones once you've gained faith. Don't pay and mind to those who want every decision to be about what pleases specifically then, those people won't ever be happy.
  20. Final Fantasy is a near and dear household name in the industry, hype is super beneficial there. GW2 is an underdog compared and their resources are likely better spent on working on the future rather than hyping people up. Esp since the result in the past when they did release content was boo this and foo that. No sense is giving people a larger expectation than they can actually meet.

New races get a short introduction, and then start their story right as the expansion begins. Previous stories are not available (play the old races if you want to experience them). > > > > > > How does that work with the story? Currently, it makes sense since the story builds up to our character becoming Aurene's champion to bring balance to the world. > > > > > > Now you want to throw in a new race, which was not part of the pact previously, and they are Aurene's champion out of nowhere? And the forthgoing story keeps treating us as the guy who was always at Aurene's side since her birth, yet we were not around when that actually happened? > > > > > > If the story is supposed to make any sense with a new race, then you have to add them retrospectively. Not just as a random soldier who joined the fight when we travelled towards Cantha. > > > > But this concept has been done before in mmorpgs. Remember WoW and the death knights? They skipped over a large part of the story but had their unique own story, and then joined the main story after that. Now let's assume a new race that starts in Cantha is pre-leveled to the lowest level area and this is where they start. It would focus on what most people come to the expansion for anyways, and bring a unique sense to the race. It could actually work. > > I never played WoW, so I am not sure how that was handled there exactly and how the story plays out. > > Is there something similar like the Aurene situation? Like I mentioned, the difficult part is that the protagonist is supposed to be Aurene's champion since her birth. We have a strong link to her and it is defining the entire story. Our relationship with Aurene is the base of everything that is going on, how we are defeating the elder dragons and let Aurene take their place in the natural order and such. > > New races would struggle to find into this story, since they simply **can't** be Aurene's champion when they joined the pact just with our travel to Cantha. That's why the race would need to get added retrospectively, which comes with it's own problems. Uhm. Not to my knowledge. The whole thing with being the chosen champoion of an elder dragon born to sheperd the world into a new age is... fairly unique. As unique as the chosen one trope can get anyways. But new races can be written in as a continuation of that arc, if they start at a later point in the story.
