In fact, it could be argued, that taking action against players for breaking out or that are attempting to break out would be Anet violating their own ToS.

I'm not getting that in reality, at least not solo and in pugs. With my setup and with food and util, I'm sitting at 95.47% boon duration, but I'm still coming up several seconds short before OfA is off cool-down - much more CD remaining than I think there should be for only 5% percent short of 100% - especially when I'm 10% over the boon duration I'm led to believe I should need. Only other thing that could be happening is if you're perma chilled. That can seriously mess with the cooldown of Orders from Above and your alacrity uptime but there's not many situations with that much chill. But Just slap on that trait and only use that skill alone to test it out and see if its permanent and then go from there adding it into your rotation. Let me know If I guessed wrong though and I can work with you in game on figuring out the uptime problem. Bingo! I've been running Lasting Legacy instead. THANK YOU! I'll make that change to my party/squad build when I get on tonight!

Instead of toypocalypse, If OP would try snowman lair he'd love it I guess. Wait until someone takes them into Infiniararium. :) Mentoring new players is probably one of the more rewarding things you can do in this game.

  7. 1. Home instance node. It's slow but steady, especially if you have other home nodes and invest the time to hit that daily. 2. When I was needing orichalcum, learn the ori node spawn point in VB. You can normally find 3 to 4 regular nodes and a rich node in VB. There are limited spawn points for them on that map. I got to the point that I used to be able to tell which map I was on based upon where a couple of nodes spawned. And once you find them, if you are partied up with someone on that map, you can switch toons and farm those nodes again.
  8. Anet also gives gems with certain achievement point boxes - I think it is the 5k, 10k, and so on boxes that you get 400 or 500 gems. I know when I started playing 5 years ago I hadn't bought any gems and then one day I had 400 or 500. Some investigating led me to discovering that they came from hitting one of the AP reward levels. I never played WoW - Ultima Online burnt me so bad that I swore off MMO's forever, I even picked up GW1 several times at the store and then put it back because it was an MMO - but, a couple of times when I found myself at a loss as to what to do next, I went achievement hunting. Have you completed the collection for Princess (bloodstone dust eater), Herta (HoT bloodstone eater) or the Star of Gratitude (empyreal fragment eater)? How about your elite spec weapons? Have you given any other professions a shot? Creating an account over on gw2efficiency.com and plugging in your API key will let you really datamine your GW2 account for achievement and other information that will expand your horizons on what to do inside GW2.

Astralaria is the Gen 2 axe, so no crafting a second one. OP, having crafted Astralaria myself, everything that is left over salvage what you can, sell what you can't, and destroy the rest. You don't need any of it any longer.

Mounts do make a difference, in a good way in my opinion. If they did add spears, I'd like to see them change some of the existing staff skins to spears (like Berserker's Lightward's Battlestaff) and replace staff with spear on some classes. Like Rev and Guardian - change staff to spear.
  11. For the only issue with camping GS - on Reaper, Warrior, Guardian, Mesmer, or Ranger - is handicapping yourself with respect to CC's. Warrior has no CC on GS, Reaper has 1, Guard had 1, and Mesmer has 1, Ranger is the odd man out with 1 and a chance for a 2nd one. When I run Berserker in HoT, I'm running 5 CC's and 3 of them come from mace/shield on my 2nd weapons set (I still primary GS on my Berserker despite axe/axe being better DPS). So, camping GS means that I'm giving up vital CC's and that can mean the difference between breaking a defiance bar or not.
  12. > @"Sindariel.4738" said: > Thank you guys for your info! Later today I'm going to try again. Couple of key things - You do have to run at least the first story instance or two of either HoT or PoF to unlock the masteries when you reach level 80. For HoT, you don't actually unlock them until you complete the first story instance in Verdant Brink - the prologue that occurs in Silverwastes doesn't do it for you. I suspect the same is true of PoF, but I do not know. Second, once you unlock the masteries, there are different mastery tracks and you only train them when you are in the corresponding map areas. So the HoT masteries are only trained in HoT maps (and season 3), PoF train in PoF and Season 4 maps, the core/central tyria masteries only train in the original core and season 2 maps, and so on. Lastly, once you have trained up a mastery, if you don't have the mastery points to spend, select another mastery to train, you can train up another one, just not the next level of the same one.
  13. Now, if you wanted an idea I could get behind - let me switch which slot my elite skill goes into. That would help the people that want per-toon key binds, but instead they'd get static key binds, but the ability to change which skills are activated by that key. So if I had an elite that I wanted to use off-cool down on one character, but on another I wanted to use my heal off-cool down (for explanation purposes only), then I could switch those both to say the '7' key instead of the '0' and '6', respectively.
  14. I was working on a Renegade build that hit 99.49% boon uptime with a crit chance over 51% with full marauder's armor, ascended diviner's weapons, diviner's trinkets, assasin's back, sigils of concentration and accuracy, using soul cakes and potent lucent oils yesterday. Runes were traveler's, IIRC. And you over-capped concentration/boon uptime with leadership runes. This was using the gw2 skill editor, so I haven't tried it out in-game yet. And meta-battle says, though I question it, you only need 85% boon uptime to hit 100% alacrity upkeep with Orders from above. Basically it is the same build I run now, just swapping out my current runes and changing the food and util from my my solo-power stuff to concentration ones. > @"Cyninja.2954" said: > Question 1: > Are you considering challenge mode fractals too, or only T4? > > Depending on your answer, the choice of class becomes far more flexible if only T4 are of consideration. > > Question 2: > Is the build supposed to be fun, or able to carry a group? > > In general support builds like heal Firebrand are far better at carrying a weak T4 group. Heal scourge or well played power reaper can do the trick too though. > > Some good advice already given, I'd recommend the following: > - get a full set of ascended berserker trinkets (Living World Season 3 and 4, etc.). These trinkets can be swapped to other characters and will retain their value and usefulness. If in doubt, always keep a set of berserker trinkets around, some character will always be able to make use of them > - pick 2 or 3 classes (guardian, warrior, thief, engineer or necromancer). Guardian, warrior and necromancer (literally talking Reaper only) are very strait forward, engi is a bit more complex > - get exotic berserker armor (use named exotic items for armor from the TP) and weapons > - use alternative "cheaper" runes over endgame runes like scholar (Superior Rune of the Pack, Strength, Ogre, Infiltration, etc.) initially > - try to use and play a recommended build from any of the build sites (metabattle, Discretize, etc.). Most relevant for correct weapon selection. > > Try out each of the classes and see which you enjoy the most. Then stick with that one and eventually upgrade to ascended weapons and armor with ideal runes. > > EDIT: > The only reason revenant, in this case Renegade, did not make my list is because for alacrity there is a substantial amount of boon duration needed (and thus would deviate from berserker gear). Going power Herald, which could make use of that berserker gear, will work for medium level pick up groups, but you might face scrutiny over not being a renegade for alacrity. It is a very easy and straightforward power dps though.
  15. Work patiently and continuously over time to kit each toon out with their own gear. Also realize that "good enough" can be reached without "meta" gear a lot of the time. The only caveat, IMO, is trinkets. Season 3 maps for the win with stat-selectable ascended trinkets for everyone! And then you just need a few shared slots for swapping endless harvesting tools and the copper fed salvageomatic.
  16. Rev is good for PVE - either as core rev, Herald, or Renegade. I have a Herald and a Renegade. Honestly can't decide which I like playing the most in PVE. Tons of fun, little bit of a learning curve with respect to learning to manage your power and your rotation. You might also consider Holosmith if you want to yeet into a crowd of enemies and beat them to a pulp. Holo with sword/pistol really fits my personality more than core engi or scrapper, though scrapper has tons of utility too.
  17. And then you have Revenants who don't have any other skill to choose from to replace the elite. Not that I'm complaining, just pointing it out.

The recipe for the exotic inscription is 250 ley line crystals, which is less than half the cost of the ascended recipe. Then you could use the exotic inscription to stat swap your ascended staff (of whatever stats) to trailblazer's in the mystic forge. And the WvW version is substantially less than the ascended recipe too.
