Do you want party markers for your group similar to the commander tag squad markers ?

With the new fractal and the last boss CM encounter I felt like it would be great for the party to have marks which can be placed on the ground or above someones head. The system is there(in the squad groups) and it doesn't hurt someones gameplay outside of the party. Why this isn't implemented yet? I hate the current workaround with this problem by making people put personal marks on the minimap and try keeping track of them in the heat of the action. Our look is supposed to be on the field not on the minimap. What is your opinion ?

The only potential problem I can see is that parties don't have a leader the way squads do, so everyone would be able to place and move the markers. But I think that's only likely to happen in parties where players don't understand what the marks are for or disagree on where they should be placed (or are deliberately trolling) and that results from issues with communication and/or knowledge of the content, which already happen and already have a solution in the form of the party talking to each other and agreeing a strategy. Or kicking if someone is trolling the group.

On that basis I can't see a downside to it, and agree it would be helpful. And of course parties who don't see a need for them don't have to use them, just like not all squads use markers.

I almost never use mine, but was glad to grab it before the cost jumped to 300G

I didn't have much gold back then and used almost all of it to grab the tag before the price jump. Not sure it was really worth it in the long term since I rarely use it.

For the price it really doesn't add much value unless you are big into WvW or like leading large groups. Squad markers for 5 man teams would be nice. If my kids enter a story instance I am not prompted to join them when I'm in "commander mode." If I just party up with them so I can join them I am unable to mark them. For 300 gold I am a bit disappointed with the limitations. I will try my darndest to find enough value in this tag for both of us ?

Side note: A catmander tag costs another 150 gold on top of this... WTH!!

As a player who comms a few times a week in PvE, it would be great to see some sort of indicator of what subgroup people are in. I'm not interested in people being able to do personal marks - I do mark up and I want that ability to be restricted to the comm and lts. What I would like is to see a little "1" above the heads of ppl who are in subgroup 1, a "2" above the heads of ppl who are in sub 2, etc.

Even if I put instructions into the squad message, such as "sub 2 - heart", with heart being a location marker, I see some players go there and others not. I can't tell if it's just sub 2 players there, where the other sub 2 players are, etc. I think that most of the problem with positioning is that players don't know which sub they are in, rather than they are not spreading themselves out because they can't be KITTENED. (Cannons, north meta, DWC is where I am currently getting squad positioning/not spreading out problems). With 40 or more ppl in the squad and players not spread out, it's frustrating - and not fair on the players where there are only 4 (yes, that has happened) trying to assist the cannon. I even balance the subs so that every sub has a bit of every profession/profession subtype. I'm also announcing what I am doing with subgroups just ahead of that part of the meta (everyone is in sub 1 up to this point).

You only have to look at the escorts to the final part of the meta in south to see how, frequently, players won't split approximately evenly between the two sides. I try to mitigate that by swapping to the side with the fewest people once the escort starts.

Sigh.

But here we are talking about changes on party groups and not squads.

I run dungeons a lot (and fractals less often), and usually make a point of joining groups that call themselves new or are explicitly asking for help. In those situations, I very much want the marking capacity I have when running a commander tag. It never fully hampers my ability to explain strategies in dungeons, but I'd really prefer to just lay down a colored marker at a certain spot rather than say "so guys, you see some vertical beams against the far wall back there? We are aiming to get to the _horizontal_ beam connecting the two right-most _vertial_ beams" or some such nonsense.

Whichever tag you buy first costs 300g, then the second one is 150g. But there's no need to have both unless you really want all the options because literally the only difference is the shape of the tag, they both have all the same functions.

Yes, because nobody ahead of my comment was talking about squads.

Yes, the LFG/Squad/Party enhancement suggestions has been mentioned in the past by many players in [legacy posts](https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/102056/commander-mentor-squad-ui-in-need-of-improvements-comments-feedback-suggestions), it would definitely enhance group play for all gamemodes, hope this request sees the light of day :) thanks for bring this up!

I'm generally for it. But I think they shouldn't allow it for groups as there is no leader in a group and it would be chaotic. Instead, they should allow groups within a squad to be real groups if there are only 5 players in it. So you would have all the advantages of a squad, but you could also enter dungeons, fractals or any other group instance together as group within a squad. This would also be helpful for some guild special events, so many things could be managed more easily.

This is also a good suggestion.
