If they do add capes it would be nice if they would give us a check box to show/hide any stowed weapon to avoid clipping.

Maybe one day they’ll add them. I read long ago (2 or 3 years now) that they had people who were trying to fix the problems

>Ten Ton Hammer: Lastly, now that you’ve implemented Guild Halls and Guild versus Guild (sort of) can we expect a change of heart and the arrival of capes?

>Colin: This isn’t really a “change of heart” kind of deal. I haven’t met anyone yet at ArenaNet who is against the concept of capes! It’s just that capes currently don’t work with our animation and armor system. Hopefully someday that can change – cause capes are awesome.

We had capes in the original Guildwars and I never used them. Anyway if anything what we need is a patch type thing that can be added to any armor back area to show the symbol for your guild. Those flag things are ok but look really clunky. Just a simple symbol similar to the ones on guild armor. Capes also take away from the armor and from what I have read clip with most of it, especially on Charr. If you cannot get it right on every race then it does not need to be in the game.

Capes, no, cloaks, yes. I don't want to look like a super-hero, I want to look like a traveler.

But the way Anet makes armor so puffy, especially light armor chests & leggings (i.e. skirts), I'd be afraid of clipping hell. I don't know why Anet can't or won't design armor just to fall straight down, like clothes do in real life.

Always in for more choice. Would never wear one or would have someone waste time/money on the developpement, but that's just me. I'll never get why ppl would spend hours of gameplay and/or currency to gather flashy skins for armors and weapons, and then despertately want a big piece of graphic hiding everything for 90% of their playtime, and there definitely is a limit to how flashy you can make a cape versus how flashy a set of armor can look. What is it with capes? Is it all GW1 nostalgia? are the Cape-people the same players who complain about buttcapes and trenchcoats?

There first needs to be a "clothing moving engine" in place, i don't want a stiff looking cape that ends up looking horribly and clipping with almost every armor, if the capes get the protector's leggings treatment or the foefire gloves then sure, but please no more rigid leather/cloth.

It's more of a tripping and vision hazard than a choking hazard in real combat. Most would be attached to/by studs on pauldrons or over the top and hooked to rondels. Neither are really choking hazards unless someone manages somehow to grab your cape from behind and run around you repeatedly while holding it at neck height while you don't move at all. But to be honest... for them to move that quickly for that long they'd not be wearing armor and thus easily killed in the process, or you could just pivot and counteract it, or they could have just killed you behind to begin with, or have just thrown it over your head to blind, tackled you while your footing and balance is thrown off, and punched through any chinks in your armor with a rondel dagger.

Though some people have historically used capes and long tabards to their advantage in their off-hands to catch swords and maces, forcing disarms or loss of balance/reeling an enemy in, as well as hiding dirty tricks or the position of their own sword to fake enemies out, so there is some justifiable combat merit.

Hood[ed cloaks] are really the bad and impractical things to wear given how much peripheral vision is lost for no justifiable gain. But honestly, both are pretty much in media for the sole purpose of "rule of cool," which in video games/media, when it comes to aesthetics, I support fully.

I'm positive to capes as long as my character wrap it in his/her arm when in combat.
