Manpag.6421
I've been thinking about this for a while: do you think a viable, low-effort workaround for the fact that elite skills can be somewhat limited (especially when it comes to underwater combat) might be to allow _any_ utility skill to be equipped there? Obviously there are some professions that wouldn't be affected too much by this (such as Rev), but it would make the elite skill slot function in exactly the same manner that the elite specialisation slot currently works, and instantly open up a whole dimension of build diversity. There are so many skill types that deliberately synergise with traits, yet there isn't an elite skill in that line so you end up with a random elite that doesn't always compliment your build. BunjiKugashira.9754
This would be quite a buff to some professions. They would be able to actually take one more USEFUL skill with them.

Plautze.6290
As it was like that in GW1, I see no problem with it. Alas, in GW1 the elites were somewhat useful (more or less).
GrubySzymek.1362
I've seen such requests since 2012. Not gonna happen.
Etterwyn.5263
Another vote for yes! A lot of elites either suck completely or the recharge is too long to make it desirable. Sadly, it won't happen.

Noted, but with all the elite specs running round now balance is harder than it's ever been. Any comparatively 'simple' change that can address this at this point will surely look desirable to Anet. Ayakaru.6583
In gw2 some utility skills can create combos that outperform elite skills, I think if you're allowed to slot normal skills in elite slots you get ever stronger builds. Warriors can't do without their HeadButt, But when I'm on my Ele I don't even use my elite skill.. i just slot a spawn elemental for passive damage

For Core and Spellbreaker I find myself just slotting Signet of Rage not because it is good but because there is nothing else for PvE. I’d love to be able to put something like Signet of Stamina there.

MithranArkanere.8957
I'd rather have the core skill sets completed, so most professions would get 2 more elites to choose (and a new healing skill too). Take mesmer. Signet of humility and timewarp are great and all, but sometimes you won't need what they do. Mass invisibility has its used but outside of that it's mostly useless. To bring gravity well you need to go Chronomancer, and Jaunt has become more about movility and condition removal that damage after the changes to confusion. Now imagine how many choices would open up if they got an elite mantra, and an elite illusion skill. There's no mantras that cause damage condition, so maybe an elite mantra could do that. And an elite illusion skill would probably work nicely if it created a strong phantasm, or 3 random ones. Specially if they add a cap to phantams like the one clones have, since it could be a tad too much as the game is right now.
Fat Disgrace.4275
No. I would gladly give up baslisk venom for say, roll for initiative or, bandits defence. Or drop rampage for another stance. Would make a lot of builds op for wvw/pvp
Just a flesh wound.3589
I wish. It would be an opportunity to put something useful in that slot.

In gw1 they defined your build. Now they are just for giggles?
Zenakou.7853
Elite skills are a joke indeed. In GW1 WoH, GoL, or boon prot were defined by their elites. Time warp while useful has a 180 second cool down lol I use it sometimes for fun, but for serious comp it's way to useless for a 10 second quickness buff. SoH also sucks balls 180 cd for a transformation and some condi buff whoopteedo. Elite skills are so trash in GW2 it's quite disappointing really. I wish we could leave them off since nobody builds around elite skills like we did in GW1.
sokeenoppa.5384
Idea would Be cool, but some builds are too op with 4 utility skills
