13 shared slots and in order I have them filled with these atm:

* Invitation to Lily of the Elon

* Home Portal Stone

* World Boss Portal Device

* Teleport To Friend

* Revive Orbs

* Repair Canisters

* Trading Post Express

* Permanent Self-Style Hair Kit

* Metabolic Primers

* Utility Primers

* Silver-Fed Salvage-o-Matic

* Endless Upgrade Extractor

* Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic

The salvage equipment and the portal devices for my Home Instance and the Lily of the Elon are by far the most used. The rest are only used sporadically but I still like to have them on hand for all my alts. I do have Portal Tomes for Season 3 and Season 4. They are mostly used by one character though and generally stay in that alt's inventory. With several sets of glyphed gathering tools, I have enough to cover the alts I play regularly and don't need to use shared inventory spaces to swap them out. Oh, and I do have a Noble's Folly Pass but use it so rarely that it just sits in my Bank Inventory until an alt needs a quick jump to Verdant Brink.

Use the level 80 boost on a new character, and park it next to a rich gathering node. Hit it every day.

I've got 12 slots:

3 for copper-fed, mystic, and blacklion salvage kit

3 for unidentified gear, so they stack and aren't accidentally salvaged from "salvage all"

2 for revive orbs and teleport to friend, as otherwise they'd never be on the character that could use them

4 for teleport tomes (Lily of Elon, Mistlock, Season 3 and Seaon 4)

I'm considering getting five more next time they are on sale, together with a set of unbreakable harvesting tools (now that I've finally used up all of the wintersday tools I had stacks of from many years ago) and to have room again for the spearmarshall's plea (that had to go back to the bank when I recently caved and got the mistlock pass).

I have 20 arranged 5 wide.

Captain's Airship / LWS3 tome / LWS4 tome / herta / Home portal stone

Mistlock Pass / Spearmarshal's Plea / Gleam of Sentience / Ley converter / BL Kit

Lily pass / World Boss Portal / Mystic Forge conduit / Rewinder / Silver fed Kit

empty / empty / Cele booster stack / Pumpkin Oil stack / copper fed kit

I'd buy more but I'd have to have 5 more because having an dead gap would drive OCD nuts. The gem store says I can only buy 4 more which would leave a dead gap. I wish I could combine some of them into a custom tome. The 3 eaters, plus a few eaters I have in the bank and Mystic Forge conduit would make a nice tome to carry around.

# 24 Shared Inventory Slots

1. Ornate Rusted Keys

2. Treasure Hunting Kits

3. Silverwastes Shovels

4. Experimental Mordrem Extraction Devices

5. Quartz Crystals - so any of my characters can commune to create a Charged Quarts Crystal

6. Completed Aetherkeys - one time I needed them and did not have them - no longer a problem

7. Ley-infused Lodestone - for helping to run down those pesky creatures (i.e. can get 1 Mystic Coin a day)

8. Permanent Portable Provisioner (for WvW)

9. Consortium Harvesting Sickle (Glyph of Bounty)

10. Unbound Magic Logging Tool (Glyph of Bounty)

11. Unbound Magic Mining Tool (Glyph of Bounty)

12. Mystic Forge Conduit

13. Copper-fed Salvage-o-Matic

14. Runecrafter's Salvage-o-Matic

15. Silver-fed Salvage-o-Matic

16. World Boss Portal Device - also useful for a free port to area to explore

17. Spearmarshall's Plea

18. Teleports to Friend

19. Mistlock Sanctuary Passkey - has added bonus to return you to where you were in PvE when done

20. Home Portal Stone

21. Season 3 Portal Tome

22. Season 4 Portal Tome

23. Invitation to "Lily of the Elon"

24. Royal Terrace Pass - so many festive events in Divinity's Reach

NOTE: Regarding 9-11 (infinite harvesting tools) - each character is equipped with some sort of harvesting tools. By double-clicking the one in the shared inventory slot, it easily swaps them out. I highly recommend the Glyph of Bounty, especially for Flax Farming. An 8-node farm will usually average 12 items at 1.5/strike for other/no glyphs; however, using the Glyph of Bounty averages about 20 items (still at 1.5/strike). My Main has Glyphs of Volatility - which are used in Guild Hall and home instance - as the nodes in those locations do not benefit from the Glyph of Bounty (only exception being the garden plots in the home instance - which I will swap out for harvesting tool with a Glyph of Bounty for the extra strikes).

5 wide is just enough on my widescreen monitor so it doesn't obstruct the view if I leave the inventory open. I sometimes clean it up on the move or in an event when my skills are recharging and my character is auto-firing.

I have OCD as well, but I also have a need to arrange my items in a certain order for the tasks at hand. Before, I had the Vendor next to my home portal stone and there were even lines...but, half the time I went to click on the vendor I clicked the HPS instead, then they added more Spaces and I had to re-arrange.

So, I said up yours OCD and I put the Bank, 2 Salvagers and vendor down, 3 empty spaces next and then the HPS, WBP, 3 Lounges and 2 Season tomes to complete the first line. The second line has wvw stuff.

There's a gap in the first line and the first and second lines aren't even, both inconsistencies drive me nuts, but I no longer go to my Home when I want to sell, and everything is arranged according to task, sacrifices must be made I suppose.
