https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Jungle_Tendril_Root the roots are actually a lot more dangerous

There seems to be at least two variety of them. In the variety the Bramble Whirl attack hits very hard and there isn't much of a tell. They just wiggle a bit and you lose a huge chunk of health. According to the wiki the range is only 100 though so staying at maximum melee range(130) should be enough to avoid it. The Tendril Growth attack is similar but for that one you would need to dodge 2 seconds after it goes underground.

This!

You will not be able to out tank many attacks in this game. There is a few builds which are very tanky (almost every class has at least 1), but those work off of synergies and specific abilities, weapons and talents rather than pure defensive stats.

there is a tell for the whirl attack it gets a red lined circle around it in the area that the attack will land.

The tendrils have that. I've never seen one from a tendril root.

We are talking about the tendrils that guard over taken forts in silverwaste for example right?

And not the tendrils some mobs put out.

I might be wrong due to the fact that I'm quite new. But to me, it feels like the game is more about your placement and ability to analyze the enemies and dodge, block, reflect at the right time than just relying on your gear.

I always feel more comfortable relying of my ability to survive longer than on other people ability to kill faster than my health drops.

I have a friend that plays both WoW and GW2. She was cussing up a storm in discord one day when she went back to WoW because she kept trying to dodge and it wouldn't work. And then when she came back to GW2, she was cussing because she couldn't remember to dodge the attacks. After I stopped laughing at her, I suggested that she just stick to GW2...

Hello,

Yepper, you are sure right.

I'm slowing learning this game, especially after having leveled up to 80 on my own.

Placement

Stance

and then,

and only then,

armor/ acessories,/ etc.

are best used in an particular combination.

It is up to you to find your best combination,

no?

Yeah, that is how I like to play at least. I know there are website where you can find optimal builds for the content each content of the game.

But I like more to play around with my own builds and test different thing. It's definitely a longer approach because you might end up spending a lot of hours into getting some gears to try out a play style that might end up being not fun or efficient.

But at the same time, it makes playing the game more fun and rewarding for me. I am definitely more on the casual side of players.
