  1. I made countless characters mostly from inspired need to create. For many, I saw a face irl that I wanted to recreate or a model from a commercial or someone from a video I saw. Maybe I saw an ad while browsing Amazon. I never felt 'bad' that I don't use my army of characters equally.

I do gravitate to my three oldest characters and my most current iteration of 'Tanya' who I re-rolled from engi to chrono. My four 'main' characters all have infusion effects of some sort. I experimented with having the effects all on one character and it was a visual mess, made my stomach churn. I had to keep those effects to a bare minimum, two or three effects that worked well together.

Aside from the core main characters I use, I may login on alts to farm or race or be everyone's favorite bug-loving Asura who gives you two pivotal mounts in the game. I use alts to field test builds, experiment, and fool around. Mains keep the builds I like and most of my builds are NOT meta. I often ask for builds to experience how others play the game and compare it to mine.

Suiciding for Dwayna's secret bloodlust fetish? I have an alt for that. Goofy-looking cosplay toon from an alternate RPG universe? I have an alt for that too!

However, I did downgrade a handful of characters to consolidate ascended armor and weapon sets to fewer characters. The current system with build and set tab switching makes it possible to need less characters. I used to login with a specific toon for a specific build and equipment set for a specific experience and situation. Now I can just have one toon with five builds and armor sets without having to switch characters altogether. I just tab to switch.

In sum, an altaholic learns how to cut back. The handful of toons I stripped will be missed though. I definitely will come back to them in some other form. Who knows?

  2. Whatever his role, I hope he ends up like Trahearne. Sacrificial lamb. I will like him when that happens. The commander in gw2 lore is the greatest assistant out there, and it's no surprise to me that the commander takes the backseat again.

As a side note, more Rox please. Rox is perhaps the cuddliest charr out there, easy to market as a plush, and is voiced well.

  3. Yes, it is worth it. There is plenty to do in terms of story and achievements. If you don't really care about those things, using and mastering the mounts are especially fun (beetle and griffon) and are a great way to simply explore the world in a faster way.

  4. I came from a competitive gaming community to settle down here. Though I recommended this game to my buddies, they didn't switch over. To them, this isn't the adrenaline rush they're looking for, and there isn't incentive to compete here since we are a casual gaming community.

That said, I'm happy that those types don't gravitate to this game. I use this game to wind-down after accomplishing things in my career and other IRL activities.

I agree with the previous poster who said, "Either the game will sell itself or it won't."

HAHAHA. OMG. The truth is hilarious. Ty Acheron.

  6. I actually don't mind it at all as opposed to the super long list we used to have that was in the chronological order in terms of release, but completely uncategorized. What I would add is some sort of notification, bubble, highlight, or marker that shows that people are congregating in a specific map without having to open each category then clicking each specific map. That way, I can see where people are playing right away and even if I don't have business there, perhaps I could help out if there's a small party or small squad trying to organize at a specific map. Just my 2 cents.

  7. Gryphon air fights. I love the idea. The gryphon is my second favorite mount. Maybe attach missiles to them or lasers. Asura know no bounds. The Skyscale seems more like a bomber (air to ground attack) than something that would attack other air targets since it's not as quick or agile as the Gryphon. It's just an idea so it's cool to think about.

  8. I voted episode 3 Long Live the Lich because we save Gorrik from Hoomans, and he gets us a beetle to ride after it's done. Canach and his side comments and in-episode trolling really sold it for me as well as just blowing stuff up alongside Canach (which we should get back to... work Canach into more stuff Anet, pls). I also like the fact that Aurene eats that dude to become immortal. Kek.

I really like episode 2 as well because it shows how deep the Inquest go in their 'research', and we get some insight into the Olmakhan who are unlike their Charr cousins in Tyria. (In the back of my mind, I'm thinking, "Okay, the Inquest have run experiments on Sylvari and Charr for sure (along with the minor, non-playable races). Will they make Hoomans and Nornies test subjects too?)

    > EXACTLY this. I've been playing since mid October of 2013 (with only one 4+ month break due to being relentlessly stalked) and my only regret about the game is that I didn't start at launch.

I wish I started at launch too. lol

  10. To kill the game (in your own experience of living), all you have to do is leave it. Uninstall and never login again. The game will be dead to you, and you never have to worry about it again.

To the collective population of gamers here, it will only be a drop in the bucket of death.

As long as the game caters to its paying population, it won't die.

Cha-Ching Anet. You have the data. Use it.

    Merry Christmas to all!

  11. Please add a special beetle questline so I can have a twin turbo on my beetle, a manual 6-8 speed gearbox, the ability to perform different tricks in the air by button choice (like tony hawk), an upgrade to my intake and exhaust, and last but not least... better shocks and dampening system.

Game of Thorns?! Play as a character in the legendary campaign of the Mad King Thorn as a noble or as a member of the Thorn family in this Epic Historical Human Saga.
