I did say that 11m number shouldn't trick people, NOT because it doesn't exist but rather because majority of those are, in fact, inactive and if we remove inactive ones, then majority of the remaining number is 2nd accounts or F2P ones.

He is not making a point at all because in this aspect, world cannot be compared to a game.

Also, none of what you just listed matters, they only ever said that home server matters and you are more likely to be ported into a map with people from your home server. Which, that also doesn't matter anymore after they added LFG, because you just join people on their maps, and again .. same people. Your home world has no meaning other than WvW and even that is going to change soon... which just makes me right .... - Why? - Because! They wouldn't be reworking the whole system, removing worlds (servers) in WvW if they had enough players to fill all these existing worlds....

They even added world-merging because some were empty, which proves me right even more.

Although, people are different, maybe the game is the world to you so you think that comparison suits what I said.

That's the funniest thing I've read today.

Umm...no, it's not that many. If it truly was, I'd not be seeing the same people in WvW, PvP and PvE ... what a coincidence that at different times of the day, days in a row I'm seeing literally same people run about. Yeah right... it's probably 50k-100k active at most at one time. Probably 250k-300k when story comes and maybe over 500k when expansions came.

Plus Anet said long ago that - if you have logged in even once in 1-3 months, you're considered an active player..... which... no, that's not an active player.

And also, if it was like you say they'd not be so quiet about it and they'd be more open about sharing stats.

I'll use this post as an example - https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/6334/25-000-griffons/p1

The expansion came out, after few days he posts how many griffons are unlocked, if there really were up to 2m players, you'd imagine there'd be way more griffons unlocked after few days ... so it's basically not even close to 1m

On Steam, you can see, for example, how many people play Dota at the same time... and it's like ... 700k-1m ... so if that game, that's more popular than GW2 can barely go up to 1m at peak times.... surely GW2 doesn't come close to it overall, let alone at it's peak.

So yeah, like I said, at it's peak, probably 50k-100k and even that's a stretch.

As for all of you listing overall numbers of up 7m and then 11m after PoF.

Keep in mind that F2P was announced with HoT so of course there will be a spike in accounts. But overall accounts don't matter because majority doesn't play anymore.

Also keep in mind that many of those belong to people who already play so it's not "new" players. I can't put a number on how many times I've seen people say they have more accounts and recommend having more because of login rewards. So don't let overall numbers trick you.

If it was that many people, you'd expect their trailer for PoF to have more views but it only has just over 400k views.

  4. It really isn't.

When it first came out, you could go up and down and pretty much permanently fly. Now, if you don't have volatile, you're gonna get back on the ground. I don't know if they made borrowed ones better or they changed them with patch after.

Also, you can't go up high using walls because your endurance bar gets locked by red bar and it won't recharge fully. So springer is much better and faster.

Ofc I want it, and unfortunately for me, I'm sacrificing last 2 brain cells I have. After that I'll book an appointment for therapy and start taking anti-depressants.

And as AP hunter, I don't care for the item as much as I care for the points.

They didn't put in any content with the Vision. Making a collection that makes you repeat hearts over and over again is not content. Adding content means something new ... those hearts are added 3 weeks to 1 year ago. Trinket is not a content, content is new things to do...

How in the world is something that's added 1 year ago, that I had to already repeat back then, a NEW content.

You gotta interact with Masteries for collection II ... how is that NEW content ? I already picked up those masteries ... long long long time ago.

You gotta do metas for 5 maps, well I already did those metas million times before ... how is that new ?

  7. Of course that majority of the people will defend Anet no matter what.

You people should be outraged at the fact that Anet has no care for your lives and the fact that they expect you to do only GW2 in all your free time.

Say bye to your hundreds or thousands of games on Steam if you have only 2h after your work cuz you're bound to GW2.

They don't care that you'd like to play GW2 AND other games.

Let's say you got kids and only 2h after work. You'd have 0 time for GW2...or maybe you'd choose it over your kids... idk. But Anet certainly forces you to choose.

  8. While I agree with the OP ...

problem is ... when they add anything that requires more than 2 brain cells, people go crazy and want it nerfed

For example that cooks mastery in Crystal Desert ... it was a bit harder, you had to remember where everything is so you can immediately run over. I have done it on my 3rd try, meanwhile people went crazy here about how hard it is. Ofc, Anet nerfed it...

Second example that comes to mind is that big boss guy in Domain of the Lost, people complained and Anet nerfed.

Not to be rude, but the devs themselves have to be capable of doing their own content but from what I've seen when they play live .... they barely do GW.

So I doubt anything harder than this can happen.

As for raids, raids are not hard, you just gotta know the pattern and your rotation and it's basically a breeze.

They're risking losing players if they never add anything fun but just timegates in order to have you come back because there is no other reason to go back as it is. I'm already trying my best to make my bf continue to play, when even I'm losing all hope that they listen, let alone care. They already know how people feel about timegates and many other things and they continue to shove them in the game.

    > > They say "we made it like this so people wouldn't have to pay 250g"... well, it's less brain damaging to earn gold as I can earn it by doing anything I enjoy while these currencies I can only earn ONE way and it's repetitive and I feel like I only have couple more brain cells before I become a vegetable.

    > >

    >

    > As an AP hunter, wouldn't you be used to this type of grind?

I am but that shouldn't be normalized. Should it?

They know they have people like me so they should consider that as well.

At least atm I don't work so I can do this but what about those that do work? For example my bf, he works 10h monday to saturday so when he comes home he has only 2 or so hours before he has to get ready for bed. Anet doesn't consider people who have jobs and even if they do, they think GW2 is all people will play after they get home.

And my bf poured loads of £ into Gemstore throughout the years (as did many people), 1 example being, when Permanent Hair Kit released he gifted me it for our 1st anniversary and he bought it for £220... for Anet to pour all the money they get into some PvP tournaments that 95% don't care for and some gifts that majority are not even able to enter, instead of using it for content they put grind after grind.

Just because something is 1-time-thing doesn't make it right. They're risking losing players if they never add anything fun but just timegates in order to have you come back because there is no other reason to go back as it is. 11. I remember when they did stream in which they showed Skyscale for the first time and Rubi said "we won't tell you how you unlock Skyscale".... now thinking about it, of course they didn't want to tell because it was timegated and they knew people would be mad and then on top of daily timegates they make you take even longer because you have to farm. Why didn't they at least say we will need 250 of each to get a headstart ... I did my achievements and collectibles in these zones and didn't bother gathering more.

  12. My hands are tiny... :'(

    So I know your pain

I literally don't have my Beetle bound cuz I don't use it as often so I just keep it as a default on the bar so if I ever need it, I can click it. In WvW Warclaw is set by default. As for Skyscale I won't bound that one either as I find it pretty much useless so far so I won't ever use it unless Anet forces it on me in which case I'll just swap beetle for it.

I do however wish they just added a wheel like you said.

  13. You need 25 bridges and 25 metas, so you can easily get 1 per map that you do from lvl 1 to 4. Even more if you keep checking as they come back up roughly every 15 mins.

You're 95% of the time going to come across bridge event if you:

1- Right after that event is done, WP back to Pact camp, there will be another escort event (DERV [bottom lane], Awakened Abomination [top lane] , Effigy [middle lane])

2- While escorting said events, you will 95% of the time, come across bridge event, as it is on the way and it should be around the time when it spawns up

Those escort events come right after the very first escort event (the one where you take NPCs to form the camp at the start)

So far I have 17 meta and 17 bridges just by doing that.

  14. Why don't you just let people do things at their own pace ?

I enjoy the game more if I can just sit for hours and hours and do achievements and story than, just as I get into it, you hit me with a timegate...

It's like a phone game now..... click,click,click... "oh sorry, you're out of moves, come back tomorrow for more!" ... seriously ... this is an MMO ... I understand you timegating some crafting because it could ruin the market, but what is the point in timegating the achievements ? You're literally just ruining fun for the people ...

ANDDDD.... above all ... a lot of the items required for collections are high up. So basically ..... I'm going to be doing all that with Skyscales I find around, my griffon, bunny and other mounts... and literally just as I finish those, you will reward me with a Skyscale, well what for? All I needed it for is done and it's now useless and slow. Plus, I had my "Skyscale hype" fed just by using the ones around the map. So not only do you give me it once all I needed it for is done but you also give me it once I'm absolutely bored of it. When I finally get it, the reaction is going to be "Pft, about time" rather than being excited about it. That is not something you should do when you want to have players play the game. Also it's kind of counter productive, if you want people to play then why do you timegate the thing, surely you'd just ... I don't know... let people play ?

I finished the story in just a bit over an hour, I only now need kills and metas in map for achievement (not counting timegated collections), so instead of adding actual things to do in the game, you add timegated achievements to keep people returning. You know people would be done with everything in just about 2-3 days, so you purposely put timegate in order to make people have to come back. Just like for Thunderhead Peaks, you added a huge grind because you know there is nothing else to it.

And for all of you people, before you tell me - "no one is making you do it."- Understand there are AP hunters (such as myself) and I have to have it all done.

  15. Their story makes no sense anymore AT ALL.

Seems like they just come here or Reddit to get ideas for the story and just choose the easiest, most obvious thing people thought is going to happen.

1- We were told killing dragons is bad - oh but let's still kill Kralk (because it's the easiest thing to do rather than coming up with another way to go about it)

2- We were told long time ago that Elder Dragons don't really feel anything but are just there to eat power, sleep and make minions and corrupt world - oh but now apparently Kralk cares about love and all that, and says he hopes we don't have to kill what we love.... like what??? since when do they love and care about who they kill

3- And surely if all the power he consumed tortured him, giving it to Aurene is going to do the same to her +Kralk's that she got now to top it off (she did tell him she is not like him, but really, she didn't have all that "power" inside her so she can't really judge)

I played the story with my bf and just as we went into Kralk's mouth I said to him - "they better not pull another Mordremoth thing with this, killing his mind or what? are we going to fight his heart now?" ... literally a minute later, we are piercing his heart, I was like .. "oh my ..."

And the whole story literally took us just over an hour to do .... pretty disappointing.

Since forever, I wanted to fight Kralk because of his size so I thought of all these amazing ways that we can fight and how he'd move and all that .... and Anet really missed a chance to make such an epic fight. We barely did anything. It is on a Zhaitan level to me, at least you had to dodge few times and do a bit more damage to Mordremoth

Edit: Although I will give them credit. Cinematics are best ones yet. At least that was good.

    No reason?

Are you even aware of the fact that PvP and WvW take place in the mists ? :/

And I agree WvW and PvP should get some, it would bring people in.
