  1. I'd love to see the bounty system added to Core maps, and I think it'd revitalise the game. The only problem is, this is (mostly) currently the ONLY content available in PoF maps, unlike with HoT and its complex metas, so it'd make the Crystal Desert abandoned. To implement this properly they'd first have to do a quality pass over PoF metas to make them more engaging and rewarding.
  2. The main benefit of Mercy Scourge is it stacks with other healers. This is because it provides very little direct healing and instead lots of barriers, so no matter what healers you have in your party Scourge still synergises with them without overhealing. A common build is to take all the Might stacking utilities and keep the group at 25 Might too. That's on top of breakbar elimination (Fear), constant barriers, cleanses and Might stacking when barriers are applied, etc. Its almost impossible to go down, as well, and you can rezz the entire party with not one, but two skills.
  3. There's only one reason this game is overrun with zergs, and its rather a simple reason. There's no rewards for small scale, and there's plenty of rewards for large scale. You can run around and take camps an towers with 3-5 players all day, but until you're getting anywhere even close to the rewards that PPT'ers are getting, the game's not going to shift in favor of smaller groups. Players chase money, and zergy PPT trains are like money (WXP, Karma, Skirmish Tickets, etc.) raining from the sky. That said there's alot of changes they could make to give underdogs the advantage, which is not the same as forcing small scale. Having 30 vs 50 is still an underdog, even if its considered a large scale blob battle, and it can still be a curb stomp just in numbers alone. The fact that the weaker side can't put up any kind of a fight in most cases is the real problem here, not small/large scale. The smaller server should always have an advantage, especially when defending. (Target caps are the root of the problem, but there's alot more.)
  4. You might have amulet enrichment, food, etc. without realising it? There's also account-wide MF bonuses from achievements.
  5. I tend to be winning the fight fairly easily but then Death's Charge off a cliff, does that count? There's alot of factors involved so no one could be the best, even your favorite streamer does silly things sometimes and loses a match they shouldn't. YouTube uploaders tend to use cherry-picked content to hide their flaws.
  6. This problem exists in many areas of the game. Basically there's mechanics in the game that are hardcoded (like stealth), that the devs had to work very hard on to make it work, so when the feature doesn't pan out like they planned, and when it even makes gameplay toxic, instead of removing it or changing how it works entirely they just do a round of nerfs over everything else. And then they repeat this process again and again instead of addressing the root cause (see: Mesmer). Its a very common problem amoung game developers in general. They won't sacrifice their precious baby game design so you can have better, healthier gameplay. You will use Thief as a stealth class, you will like it and you will not do anything else, period. I know that's overley dramatic, but that's basically how it ends up with most problems in this game, and many others too. Until we have a dev team that isn't afraid to rework major mechanics because of how much time, energy or resources it would take to fix all the resulting bugs, do the necessary rebalancing, etc, we're stuck with things that are bad for the game. Which given how old this game is, and how much the spirit of development has dropped off since its release, most likely means indefinitely. This post hurt me to write, but it had to be said. This is why I left game development myself. So many games fall prey to this, and it really hurts their longevity. That's why the modern trend is to make games that last a few days (after years of development), instead of being played decades down the road. It becomes not only a waste of time and energy for both devs and players, but also of vision, dicipline and other metaphysical resources. To be fair, GW2 has had a good run for its money already, but some problems existed since the beginning.
  7. The answer is simply no, because its been established in canon that those who wield Primordus's fire magic become corrupted. I'd go into detail, but its major spoilers if you haven't played the Vision and read the lorepieces associated with it Jormag is vulnerable to fire magic simply due to being an ice dragon, its just that only Primordus's magic is on the order required to kill them, as shown by Mordremoth and Kralkatorrik being almost invulnerable. The only reason we were able to defeat Zhaitan by convential means is because he basically had no magic left by the time we reached him, with his Mouths dead and the Heartwell purified. Most likely, at full power Balthazar or even Menzies could've killed Jormag outright as well. This is left ambiguous as Kormir said the outcome didn't matter only that it'd destroy Tyria (or at least a significant chunk of it) regardless. Its worth noting that the Jotun were once God-Kings that made even Joko look weak. If the stories are true, they existed on a level far beyond anything that exists now, and may've been as powerful as the Human Gods, individually. So there's no way of really knowing how powerful Jotun magic is, and the single demonstration we have of it (breaking the tooth) accomplished something nothing else ever has. It also severely injured the Commander with a single attack, who is seen as godlike by most Tyrians as well.
  8. You're thinking Meditations, which already have a heal skill. Consecrations are skills that affect an area. That said I'm not against making it affect allies, too.
  9. Yes, its something I've wanted for a long time. I've tried to make it work with the existing mechanics, but it just doesn't. Current Thief is at best, a buffer and stealth-resser with some projectile hate, but that's about it. [shadow Mender](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Shadow_Mender) shows that darkness doesn't necessarily mean "selfish". In fact I think a support spec is our most likely target for EoD since we already have tank and DPS specs.

Busted breakbars are near-permanent in high-level instanced content like Fractals, to the point where one of the most common sigils taken for all classes does the same thing that Stormsoul does, more or less. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Superior_Sigil_of_Impact Damage in this game is exponential, so after the bar breaks you're doing 1x1.50x1.10=165% damage. The other trait is a more reliable, consistent option, but its overall damage is lower unless you're crit-capped, at least in such environments. (Parties and squads usually provide permanent Fury, so having a source of Fury is also unnecessary.) In open-world or solo play, of course the Fury stacking and extra Ferocity is far superior. --- The problem with threads like these is they show a lack of experience with builds. For example some players are saying Inscription is bad, when its the backbone of Elemental Summoning builds and they'd be much weaker without it.
  11. Just check the sender, if its from ArenaNet it'll be an @ guildwars2.com email address.
  12. The ICDs (Internal Cooldown) of sigils don't affect weaponswap much, except on Warrior (traited). They're mainly there to prevent misuse with Ele attunement swapping, Engi kit swapping, Necro shroud flashing, Revenant legend swapping etc. > @"Veprovina.4876" said: > I see! Thank you! > I'm not on Warrior, i'm Mesmer, so normal cooldowns. > > Is it beneficial to run two Energy sigils even? Or is it kinda overkill? In large fights Sigil of Stamina will far exceed Energy. Sigil of Energy is only useful in small-scale (roaming, etc).
  13. They should work like kits for the Ele and like banners for other players providing their +stat bonuses.

During Wintersday, Karma allows you to buy Wintersday Presents and sell them on the TP. You can also make an extra 1mil Karma during Wintersday by doing the dailies every day, especially gifting to orphans.
  15. Dailies for the liquid 2G Full home instance Max level guild hall nodes Hidden Garden in Mount Maelstrom (from Kudzu) Dry Top and Melandru's temple for Quartz Crystals and Unbound Magic (from Henge Away from Home) Sometimes Rich Quartz node in Dry Top if there's a T4+ sandstorm Crystal Oasis Rich Quartz node Ornate Rusted Key from Krait Lump of Mithrillium and Xunlai Electrum Ingot Pact Supply Network I barely do any metas or anything these days, as it got boring after running AB successfully a few hundred times. Just these activities alone take about an hour and net me about 10G of immediate profit per day, not counting materials. The overall income is probably in excess of 25G/day, which is about the going rate for an hour of work. (Keep in mind my gathering tools are unlimited and have glyphs in them.)
  16. Regarding the Destroyers, Jormag and Primordus had their magic completely drained and went to sleep. This means while sleeping they likely naturalised the magic from the other spectrums rather than it conflicting with their own, like Aurene. One of the NPCs even comments about this; so likely Jormag and Primodus don't suffer from torment, and the powers wielded by their minions are integrated into their base design rather than being tacked on after the fact, which is why the Destroyers are notably stronger than before. (They can be burned because it was unfair Core mobs are resistant to certain types of DPS.) As shown when fighting Jormag's Unstable Abomination, using those powers is a double-edged blade. The Destroyers in Ember Bay were also vulnerable to being Chilled, which would've made them instantly vaporised by most of Jormag's minions. It seems better to just naturalise it to their own form of magic and "do what they do best" instead.
  17. Dire is the matching Core set that lacks Expertise. You may want to mix in some Rampager (and later Viper's), though.
  18. I camp GS on my Reaper, Viper/Trailblazer mix, extremely tanky though it takes time for damage to ramp up. You can still go in and out of Reaper Shroud to trigger on-swap traits and sigils, too, so Reaper doesn't lose that functionality when camping a weapon. Keep in mind you won't reach max DPS without weaponswap due to cooldowns.
  19. Its almost like we should have different sets of rules for different times of day depending on how many players are on, instead of building the entire game with the assumption that maps are full and queued at all times and then forcing players to cope. When GW2 was announced, one of the biggest draws was its "dynamic systems". But its come to the point where they can't even maintain PvE features consistently, with even the scaling there getting wonky lately, so I think its safe to say the dynamic systems in the game are gone and despite being one of the most important aspects of a competitive game mode we're unlikely to ever see it improved here. I think the game's just had too many turnovers of management and dev teams by this point.
  20. Its interesting to think about this stuff but after playtesting for many years I found pure healers to be ineffective. I usually classify a full support as bringing heals, cleanses, boons, and some form of Protection and other group defenses (like Frost Aura), and if possible, CC and Vulnerability stacking for enemies. These are all the roles you can play without having to directly damage enemies, and when I tested it in group settings just the presence of Protection boon alone and cleanse (for high pressure fights like Mai Trin) greatly exceeded all healing multipliers except in a few rare cases like Druid CA where limited uptime make it necessary to achieve higher output. For that reason I almost never take those kinds of builds anymore and usually focus on hybridising as much as possible, as the base healing values with ~1k of Healing Power are high enough to overheal most groups combined with their personal healing skills. Of course there's variation by class but for the most part I think this tends to hold true.
  21. Players seem to be getting confused on this subject alot. Refering to Jormag as they/them, isn't about gender. Its because in English its offensive to refer to any sentient being as "it", which is used for objects. Characters who refer to Jormag as they/them are just recognising Jormag in a respectful way. Its a change in scope from the "forces of nature" view of the past. Because we learned with Kralkatorrik, that's not the case. The entire point of the Kralkatorrik storyline was showing us the truth about the dragons, and why Zhaitan and Modremoth were the way they were. Although Kralkatorrik had the most severe case due to also being tormented from absorbing their energies on top of it. Jormag is our enemy, but not a piece of trash we should just disrespect at every turn. The Elder Dragons are the life force of Tyria, and our disrespect towards them is alot of what got us into trouble (and almost destroying the world), as Joko pointed out. But really, why make a mountain out of a mole-hill, then say others are doing the same? Just an FYI, many languages aren't gendered at all, and of those that are many have gender-neutral pronouns. (And American English isn't even English.)

Forcing players who play IceBrood Saga to buy both LS3 and LS4 to play all the DRMs, I don't think the devs have ever done anything like that before. > There is nothing suggesting you will have to buy LWS3 and 4 to play all the DRMs. The DRMs are instances one access from the EoTN. Only thing you will need is the Champions episode. Two of the DRMs Mastery Points are located in Lake Doric and Thunderhead Peaks which are exclusive maps. Like I said, maybe they'll allow you to enter in the instance only, but I'm not sure that's possible on the current engine design. It was built specifically to lock players out of those maps if they don't own the content, hence teleport scrolls.
  23. Purity of Purpose is good in high pressure fights like Mai Trin. HGH is good for Might stacking a bit and for reducing cooldowns on key supports kills like Toss Elixer R and Elixer Gun/Mortar Kit heal skills. For this reason HGH is actually more common in full support builds than PoP. Iron Blooded won't help you with conditions so it directly competes with PoP depending on the encounter, but in most cases it'll likely more valuable. Just keep in mind to make full use of it you should also take Protection (Shield or pulsing Thumper Turret etc.). Anticorrosion Plating is often combined with PoP, otherwise Medical Dispersion Field is taken. Alot of it comes down to whether you're trying to be DPS, support/tank or hybrid. Btw I'd replace your trinkets with Berserker's. you only need defense on half your gear at most, armor & weapons is half your stats and trinkets are the other half so just replacing your trinkets will give you a good balance between damage and defense. Scrapper is also fully capable of taking almost no damage even on full glass with barriers, 40% Protection trait, etc.
  24. What I don't get is how they're going to do DRMs in LS3 and LS4 maps, that's a bit unfair. Forcing players who play IceBrood Saga to buy both LS3 and LS4 to play all the DRMs, I don't think the devs have ever done anything like that before. I mean sure its okay for us veterans but what about new players? Would've been better to stick to Central Tyria. Maybe the DRMs will allow entrance into Lake Doric and Thunderhead Peaks without the previous Living World seasons, like some kind of sneak peak. But I'm not sure that's even possible with the way the content gates are set up.
  25. > @"The Greyhawk.9107" said: > OP, you said that a bipedal running animation already exists, are you certain of this? Ive been around a while but its the first I've heard of this. Its used frequently by Flame Legion and Dominion. Charr NPCs almost never run on all fours, though it can seem a bit confusing because they also have a greatsword dash that looks like they're running on all fours for a while.
