  1. It wouldn't work because a Human can just solve the captcha for the bot and still let it play the game. Many of the players you see that seem like bots are actually just people using complex scripts/macrosets, which is why their attacks are always the same. You can identify true bots by when they run back to a point over and over, like treb bots in WvW.
  2. Advice for your friend: You'll need to avoid Spirits and take mostly Command skills or Glyphs. Everything you use in WvW needs to be fully mobile. Your main goal as support in roaming is to keep your partner from getting downed and stomped. You'll mostly want the trait that stealths allies when you come out of Celestial Avatar, which covers you both for safe reviving. Then you can take the various revive abilities like Search & Rescue and basically never lose a fight. A properly skilled Druid can revive other players several times on the right build, just using skills and traits and not counting manual revival. Make sure you have good sustain in case you get targetted instead. Nomad's or Minstrel's gear is preferable. Good weapon choices are Axe for Chill and Weakness, Warhorn for Vulnerability and boons, and Staff for heals and projectile blocks. The Staff #3 skill is also extremely useful for immediately teleporting to an ally for reviving. For this particular role Rebirth runes would likely be ideal, and Sigil of Renewal for extra heals when you enter/leave CA. Make sure you take the Glyph that knocks back enemies in case you run into Thieves who try to stealth stomp. They'll need to be pushed away while in stealth to keep their stomp from succeeeding, which will quickly end the fight.
  3. Eh, I think ever since we got true DPS, healers and tanks (still an important role for a Comm), everything has been easy. I think while getting The Golden Child title a few years ago, AB only failed maybe a dozen times. Of course half the time I was leading it, and having a tag up helps alot.
  4. SMC and enemy objectives shouldn't be upgradeable, period. Upgrades should be for defensive purposes only. Also increase damage to gates from players by 1000% and from Flame Rams by 100%. No one even attacks gates anymore unless there's no wall to attack because its literally the worst way to siege an objective at this point. Attacking walls should be a ranged tactic used as a last resort on heavily defended forts.

Yeah I had an idea how fun it is in T2.. for BG :P > And yes many guilds in my team are tanking , and they did last week also but they failed to get us down in t2, all they did was to make sure we didnt win. You know when a tag invite any pugs he see and then doesnt respond to home bl and better like to recap a paper tower in ebg instead.. or when he spend an hour around a paper tower a get nothing done.. they arent even shamed about it, they ask for it in team chat! To be fair alot of us who tag up just don't like Borderlands. Even Alpine has its issues, EBG is run because its endless combat not spending 15mins crossing a map only for one blob to roll over another in five seconds or less. There's been requests many times for more numerous waypoints in the larger maps (without T3 Keeps), but. While some guilds do intentionally tank, alot of its just people playing how they want, and when they want, I think.

And that's assuming you don't have a ton of level up scrolls , Tomes of Knowledge, etc. to instant-80 characters. Leveling in this game is too easy already, almost effortless really.
  7. > @"ThaMightyBird.9712" said: > Most of the gap in performance comes from organization, communication and skill. WvW ranks have no large impact, you kind of need the warclaw and the glider but you get that really fast. Exotic equipment is really cheap, perfectly fine in most cases and ascended is not that hard to get if you really want to have it. After a while you are flooded with ascended gear. Meta is mostly defined by how ANet balances skills/traits or lack there of. I don't think there is a need for this. People who enjoy this kind of content already play it, to hook more people you would probably need better rewards. I think the masteries do have a big impact in certain areas. For example, with full Ascended gear and the relevant masteries maxed for example, you're dealing ~40% extra damage to guards, and because damage stacks in this game exponentially, that's huge. Luring people to guards, fighting around guards, etc. is a common WvW tactic, and newbies can be absolutely destroyed by a veteran player in this manner, while it wouldn't work on another vet. Think about how hard it is for a newbie to take a merc-reinforced T3 camp without Defense Against Guards, Guard Killer & Mercenary's Bane. In most cases, its not even possible because those handicaps are also being stacked with a lack of skill. These are just a few examples, there's many more like how the stacking all siege damage and supply masteries make basic catapults usable which allows veterans to solo-siege structures for example in Desert Borderlands with just one trip to a camp. And just having the Permanent Portable Provisioner is a game-changer for tight inventories, which is common for players that aren't dedicated to the game mode, and don't specifically buy and organise their bags to hold siege and whatnot. Vets benefit from their alts having it, newbies don't, which means that sometimes they don't even carry siege or, more importantly, traps. And then what about the Warclaw abilites to Sniff out stragglers, and dismount other players? Sure, a new player can compete, both in gear and mastery basics, but saying they have no large impact is false.
  8. Mystic Coins price fixing is because they're used in grey-market trades to bypass the 500g transfer limit. I think one possible solution is to allow players to directly buy Mystic Coins from Fractals, Raids and Strike Missions. Maybe even DRMs. But for this to work they would need an exchange rate far stricter than Obsidian Shards. Maybe specifically adding them only to Daily/Weekly rewards is the solution. Part of me wants to see what chaos would ensue if they retroactively added MCs to dungeons. It'd be 2015 all over again! :p
  9. I find that Eagle, Ogre, Pack, Scholar and Strength, are all heavily used in Power-based builds. Pack runes are especially common as they allow certain boons permanent uptime without going all-in on Boon Duration. Keep in mind "raid" comps are only used in Strike Missions, raids, sometimes in Fractals if its a high-end effort. The reason being is that your party is less reliable in 5man content, simply due to lack of sheer numbers, you need to bring a few players completely overloaded with specific builds to obtain the same results as a 10man comp, and lack of understanding of this skews the community viewpoints. Non-Scholar builds are heavily used in areas where players need to rely on themselves more and their party less. And I think that's what most alternative builds in the game are for and they're in a pretty good place for that right now. Also, some classes have a harder time staying at max health due to fewer active defenses. Confusing math, metrics and "what-ifs" for real-world situations is the mistake that game developers make that turns games into trash. I'd recommend the community not make the same mistake, because a war of numbers isn't anywhere close to the real thing.
  10. Its a stacking effect of both poor marketing of the end-game and lack of revisions to the starting game that cause players to either not start playing or to not stick with it afterwards, and its becoming a real problem this far in. You're wanting them to advertise the next expansion when they still haven't advertised the last two expansions. I've seen comment after comment from new players who didn't understand what the expos even were, and call them DLC because thats what they seem to be. Essential changes like making basic gilding and a basic mount available @ lv1 if they own Path of Fire, would help alot. Imagine how this game would change if new players actually had a taste of what's coming past Central Tyria. This late in the game the veteran players aren't the ones we should worry about. They'll keep playing, but uptake and retention of new players is falling hard. Think about it, how often do you see new players who aren't alt accounts?
  11. > @"Linken.6345" said: > Yea all the skins are same as you can craft or get in story right? > > https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Auric_weapons Its a completely different set(?) of weapons that's less green and more yellow.
  12. The core problem is that the LFG tool is kind of poorly made. The devs designed it to make the game look big and full, even though almost every category is empty, so you can't actually use it the way you need to half the time. Imagine if you could add tags like #experienced for example that didn't take up title space.

I think you're confused, Skimmer Search has nothing to do with Finding Sibaha, the Advanced Skimmer questline.
  14. > If Missive for Ebele was already consumed before talking to Ebele, simply talk to her without with the item to complete the achievement. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Missive_for_Ebele
  15. You character can have two equipment tabs and three builds, so eventually you'll be able to have both. I run Condi DPS Mirage and supportive Healing Wells Chrono with a little Condition Damage on my gear so I can handle some basic enemies myself. Both of these are on the same character, I just have to switch tabs.
  16. Lion's Arch has no flight restrictions so you can easily complete Troll's Revenge in 5mins with Griffon or Skyscale. The rest are fairly easy with the Prototype Position Rewinder, otherwise you might have some trouble. Scavenger's Chasm is likely the worst, due to the orb collecting mechanic, which requires fine jumping skills (bringing a Mesmer helps alot).
  17. I doubt it will be buffed because when used on Deadeye's final trait you're already giving out Fury, 25 Might, Swiftness, and Vigor, and stack half those boons pretty much infinitely on the party with the Cantrip reset mechanic. With max Boon Duration you're also providing your entire party with permanent Vigor, which is very strong. Its probably the single most overpowered boon in the entire game, since this game depends on active defenses, and why sources of it are so rare. Although it is underpowered on Daredevil in comparison.
  18. Deepstone and Twilight Oasis are relatively short once you know the mechanics, just a bit of slowdown from the puzzles. Shattered Observatory is always too slow because the bosses are just health sponges. If their health were reduced it'd be the perfect Fractal, because like Underground it has good mechanics otherwise. Siren's Reef was a bad idea conceptually, the entire Fractal seems based around the idea of just bombarding you with a million enemies constantly in all stages, which is very contrary to the design of other Fractals which encourage strategy. I find it to be the weakest of all the Fractals for this reason, as while it does encourage build diversity its also very noisey and quite irritating and sluggish. Sunqua Peak boss moves around way too much, and CC windows are your only oppertunity to do any damage because of it. As a result its quite possibly the most stressful Fractal for a melee player, which is the majority of DPSers.

Weddings came long before the religious associations with them, and even before legal systems were invented. The practice originates from Ancient Mesopotamia, thousands of years before Christianity or Christian-style marriages even existed.
  20. Some general tips: 1. Run a tanky build as a new player, something like PVT (Power, Toughness, Vitality). Supportive builds also give a good experience. 2. You should bring permanent Swiftness if you can. Rune of Speed, though expensive, will let you keep up with groups. 3. If you're caught alone, you'll die. Its just how it is with lack of experience. (That's why to just build for groups to begin with at that level.) 4. Try to run with tags, if up. If not, stand in front-line forts owned by your side and defend them. 5. Call out enemies on the map chat (scouting) and try to stall them for as long as possible. 6. Retake camps whenever possible. Make sure you know how to solo handful of veteran-level PvE enemies at once. 7. Retake your sentries (road guards) when they're a different color. 8. Put your first point in gliding, and no more. Then start on Warclaw. Read the Wiki to learn how. 9. Always resupply at every oppertunity. After Warclaw, all your points should go into supply capacity and build & repair speed. 10. Keep siege weapons in your inventory. Rams are used on gates, catapults on walls, and arrow carts on top of walls defending. 11. Set model limit to lowest, turn on permanent nametags and disable simple nameplates. This helps you identify enemy players easier. 12. Try to focus on doing your WvW dailies so you can get reward potions and increase your rank. That's it. There's alot more but there's things you learn just from playing the game mode, like all the different names of places and all the various terms like bubble which means boonstrip/reflection shields from skills and siege. You'll find the best new player experience in Eternal Battlegrounds (EBG). Remember that your color and position changes every matchup, and if you're on a link server, your host server changes every few months. You may have to switch servers to find people active in your timezone, as well! The most important tip I have for you is don't show fear. If you hesitate, you've already lost the battle.

Despite evading at the right time, I was constantly stun locked despite not even being in the red targeted areas and even during my "i-frames". I even used Infilitrator's arrow to just tp way away from him and still got stunned. As for #3, you can't dodge some skills in the game, they're known as wards. This particular skill is an Elementalist skill, and the only way to bypass it is to use Stability, and this is key knowledge for the competitive modes like WvW. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Static_Field
  22. If players successfully defend the gate from attacks (which doesn't change the text on the side), it never resets.
  23. > @"Dixa.6017" said: > in a game without a holy trinity, how do you propose balancing these dungeons without homogenizing the classes? if everyone can be dps and everyone can be support.... Everyone can't be support, that's the point. Only a few specific support classes are taken to anything, the only thing that changes is which class it is for the content, like how Druid works in raids but not in WvW, HB/Alacren is preferred for Fractals, etc. Meanwhile almost anyone can do good DPS regardless of class, and bring their own damage-centric boons like Might and Fury. We're very far from any true balance between the damage and support roles.
  24. Except that Jormag hasn't lied even once, persuasion is about telling the truth, just in ways that people want to hear. Leaving out key details, sugar-coating harmful details and other stuff that we see both Jormag and their champions do, but never lying.

If i was more fragile i might quit the game mode altogether. Honestly i have run some parties with almost all supports in lower tiers because of how sparse the player base is. You have to use what's available. > > > > I just would like some wind knocked out of the sails of the everyone is dps meta. > > > > Which by the way was how i started this character but because of lack of support while climbing, i swapped it into support before i invested too much into the character. > > More than lecturing i think people are just annoyed when in an content that is hard compared to the others contents of the game you don't pull your weight, as long your dps is fine or your boon uptime is ok, only people that like optimisation will complain, most of class in this game can be dps in cm with no real problem but the problem is more on buffer, there is no other buffer for 5 man content than fb, the game really need new one, we only have 10 man support that are not fit for 5 man at all (without even speaking about how broken fb egide is) same for alac, why only two specialization in this game can give it ? This is the key point I was trying to make earlier. Its not just that two classes in the game can give Alacrity, its that only two specialisations (subclasses) can give it, which means that the overall amount of classes that provide Alacrity is a whopping 7%. And on top of that, one of them has a really hard time doing it, so generally isn't used for the task anymore. And don't even get me started on Firebrand and its monopoly on group Stability, with Rev barely competing, and no one else being able to do the job except a little bit from Scrapper, Chronomancer, etc Everyone wouldn't have to go DPS if it wasn't literally the only role they could play thats effective. Even when you count mechanics like reflects, the number of players that can do them is a very small amount of the overall player base, and that's why we end up like this. No one should be everything, but everyone has to be at least something, and right now that's just damage with maybe some heals and basic boons like Might if you want to support, that's it. One whole class (Warrior) is demoted purely to just increasing your stats, that's rediculous.
