Any stunbreak recovers from knockdown/stun/daze, basically any condition that is indicated bu the purple debuff icon and lays your character out on the ground. The whole list of things that stunbreak solves is at the wiki page [here](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stun_break). > > I'm not sure at this point if we need to look at the game's design, or individual players, when it comes to figuring out how so many people can make it so far into the game without learning important information like this. For me, stun breaks are among the first abilities I make sure to hotkey on every class for every game I play, and I very quickly found out that abilities marked as stun breaks got rid of all hard cc's. This also taught me the utility of soft cc's like cripple, chill, and immobilize - I knew that I could throw those at targets in pvp who were using stability and stunbreaks, and find ways to pin them down regardless. > > EDIT: oops had this page open for too long, didn't see that someone basically made the same response already. > Then let me repeat myself. If all my skills go on cooldown, what do i use then? Doesn't happen with "normal" stuns, but some enemy abilities knock me on the ground, all my skills 1-0 get on a 5 second cooldown so how am i supposed to "use a stunbreak" then? I know what sutns are, i use them every day in WvW, and i know how to get out of them. But you can't get out of some stuns and CC effects. Especially if they don't have a tell like some mobs do. Besides, i don't know why you're all arguing with me, if you read my post (thouruogly this time), you'll see that i have no problem with this. don't just read the first thing i said and have a kneejerk reaction, read and understand the whole post.

This is either an oversight or a bad idea because it only takes 5 seconds for mobs to kill you when you're not dodging so idk what that's about. What's worse, most of the enemy CC is instant and can't be defended against. You can only stunbreak when you're stunned but there's nothing against being knocked on the ground as far as i know. Yet you have to do it for your skyscale. The problem? I waited there for about 30 minutes with a mentor tag for someone to show up, only for someone to actually show up, start the boss and log off. So i thought, fine i'll try to solo it. The other problem? It's dirt easy, you just strafe around the 3 hour telegraphed attacks and wittle down his health. Was fighting him alone for 30 minutes and got around 30% of his health down. Do you see the problem about having to do a required event with a meatshield boring bossfight for two hours? And my damage isn't that bad at all, the boss is just that tanky and doesn't scale. That's why you have mounts so you can skip the CC mobs, Crystal Champion masteries to avoid being dismounted etc. But i do agree they should tone down the CC a bit. I hate harpies with a passion now. But those CC heavy areas are kind of rare in the grand scheme of things so i don't really think it's THAT much of a problem. > > > > EDIT: I just want to point out that i'm an Assassin's build Mesmer and even i can tank most of the hits in high level maps. All my skills go on cooldown, including utility and elites. I don't see how i can "stunbreak" out of that one... The second part was i assume not directed at me?
  3. I kinda agree, there's too much CC being applied to the player, and your CC often does nothing to even some trash mobs (because they have that locked stun bar all the time). It's the same thing though isn't it? The skins are tied to the armors, currently there's no way around that, and i doubt it'll be any different in the future. I know what OP wants, to be able to make one legendary backpack and just use all legendary skins for it, but that's not how the game works, the skin itself is also legendary and has "value" based on that fact. So in order to get 2 legendary skins, you do 2 legendary items. It's like if you would make Bifrost, then got the Nevermore skin for free because you made one legendary.
  5. > @"Fenom.9457" said: > Asking to swap different sets will never happen, however this is just more support to my belief we need more options! Why do we not have a general pve Armor set, or even competitive ones that don’t share skins with their ascended versions. If you want armor that is TRULY legendary, you HAVE to get into raids which is really crappy. Seriously, even a single option more, anet... cmon... Open world PvE legendary armor would be nice! Though trinkets are gained through open world PvE so maybe Anet doesn't want everything to be obtainable through 1 game mode.
  6. I would so love this as well! Also an option to retrieve the books i had to delete due to space issues.
  7. I'll never get raid armor as well... But that's 100% on me, not because "raids are not newbie friendly". They're not, but if i don't even try, then i won't even get the chance to get the armor. So why exactly would i be entitled to raid armor if i don't raid? That armor is for dedicated raiders, you need to spend a LOT of time in that content to even begin to make it. Same for WvW and PvP armors and backpacks. You want the thing - you do the content. And i'm not trying to sound dismissive here, it's just how it is, it's not going to change. Especially because those are rewards for that specific content. Just because you want it doesn't mean Anet is obligated to give it to you by alternative means. Part of the reason those armors and items exist is to incentivize players to try out different modes and content. Practice makes perfect. You said you're not good at sPvP. Well, no one is at first, you just do it til you're good. You can also access it at lvl 2 and do it with other professions if you feel like one of them suits you better than your main, so PvP is pretty chill in that regard, it's not like WvW where you need to be max level (or lvl 60 i think). It's like Skyscale. If you don't do the work, you can't have it. It's totally unnecesary but a huge QoL improvement - same as legendary gear. It's just cosmetic and QoL, so if you want to get it - you do the content. If not, everything you have is not bad in any shape or form and you're not worse for not having it, and that's the other reason legendaries are tied to their content. Because they're not strictly better. They're premium items that require putting time into X content to be able to make. If you can't or don't have the time, you're not worse then those who have it.
  8. You'll have no issues in open world PvE, you can use any reasonable build (meaning you don't expect to do damage with Minstrel's etc.), and you can have fun building weird unorthodox builds and still be able to do content, story, metas, farming etc. But for everything else, they're not that great. Every other profession will be so much better than you at what you're supposed to be doing with half the effort. So take that into account when deciding. But if you just want to level and have fun in open world, then sure, it's pretty fun! Check out the "let's theorycraft fun builds" thread, there's a lot of coold builds that people are posting for mesmers for open world. None of them are "meta" and won't get you into raids, but they're fun in open world.
  9. Chrono is "good" (and i use that word very loosely) in both PvE and WvW. Power/precision for PvW, Minstrel's for WvW. Mirage is only "good" in PvE (condi). It depends on what content you're doing. I'm doing WvW with support Chrono, and open world with a precision crit build. It's "ok", but if you read the forums on Mesmers you'll understand how bad they are right now. That doesn't mean you can't have fun with a Mesmer, it's still a fun class to play, just don't expect any miracles, and expect to be annoyed by your skills not working. As for Chrono vs Mirage, i think Crhono is currently in a better state right now of the two.
  10. Yeah that video tells you pretty much all you need to know about the dodge nerf, if the forum arguments form pretty much everyone aren't convincing enough.
  11. Here she is! ![](https://i.imgur.com/dIuCRBC.jpg "") ![](https://i.imgur.com/HyIDVIX.jpeg "") Thank you to all who commented, gave advice and helped me on my journey! I have to say, this was one of the more fun collections i did, except the grindy map currency part, but that didn't take too long thankfully because i had some saved up from WvW reward tracks, and was able to get the rest while waiting for time gated parts. But most of that currency came naturally while playing, you get some for map completion, hearts, events on some maps so it's not that bad all in all, just a "bit grindy". Would probably be a lot more grind if i hadn't done the WvW reward tracks but the funny thing is - i did those for other rewards lol, not map currency, that was just a byproduct! Some breakdown of the collections and my thoughts here: **Newborn skyscales** - that was a fun runaround set of collections, had me really acquainted with the Dragonfall map which i appreciated later. And boy did i appreciate my Springer here as well as Oakheart's Reach and Bond of Faith. I think i couldn't have gotten most of the items without the ability to launch myself off the Springer and glide to where the item is. You were right by saying those are useful, and i'm glad they included LS3 masteries in Dragonfall, helped me a lot! And now i understand why Crystal Champion masteries are so important to have! **Saving skyscales** - another runaround one, but i enjoyed how you need to do different things for each element and stuff. Nice and chill! **Raising skyscales** - The only really time gated one (except the 2 hours between collections). I honestly didn't mind it as i could use that down time to collect map currencies, work on my Griffon and do events for volatile magic. This is probably why there's a time gate in the first place, so you can save up some currencies that you'll need for later. The items themselves were easy enough to get though, but i had like 90% of the materials for food and grow lamp already, just needed to do some Dry top for the recipe, the rest was just crafting. Didn't buy anything off TP. Dragonfall Meta is annoying without flying mounts though... But that's a problem i'll never have to face again. **Troublesome skyscales** - the only "issue" i had is with Skyscale lost where you have to do events for them. It's great when that's a Mark II golem world boss, but not when you have to do some obscure event that no one plays like Branded Ley-Line anomaly. I sat there for half an hour with a mentor tag, then some player appeared, opened the chest with the boss and logged out. Leaving me to fight the thing alone and it was not fun for the first 30% of the health, it also took about half an hour with the damage sponge that he is. I don't understand the logic behind this event, does it even scale? I was the only one there, it would have taken me 2 hours to bring him down solo. The boss itself is super easy, i just strafed left and right out of the 3 hour long telegraphs for his attacks, but man is he tanky. Eventually some people showed up and we killed the boss easier. That was the only "meh" part... They should scale that boss better so it doesn't take so long to kill him, and my damage isn't that bad, he's just that tanky. I suppose i could have used the free treat, but i sold it for some Griffon money, and i wanted to do the collection without the treats anyway. If you don't want to deal with the anomaly, use the treat there and save yourself the trouble. But the rest of the jumping puzzles and mount spots were fun to get to. That i liked. After that, playing with the skyscale was also fun, added a bit of immersion that the rest of the mounts don't really have. Except Petey. **Riding skyscales** - this is the grindy part that i thankfully kinda skipped, but people who spent their currency and then got to the part and only now have to get all of them - yeah, kinda annoying. This could have been another collection that gives you 25-50 currency per item found/event done, and by the time you're done with it you'd have enough to purchase the saddle parts. Would have been more fun to have to do events for the collection and that it gives you currency than just farming but whatever, it wasn't so bad for me. All in all, it definitely is an incredible amount of work for a mount but man was it worth it!!! I just got the mount today, and only finished the first mastery and i definitely see what everyone was talking about!!! It's SOOOO GOOOD! I thought, when people said it loses altitude and can't "really" fly, i was a bit iffy about that, but i have to say, i'm pleasantly surprised. You can basically glide through the entire map in one go, especially with the Bond of Vigor mastery, refreshing it's altitude meter here and there. As long as you fly straight, it doesn't lose that much altitude, much less than an unmastered griffon does, and you can even fly up and stuff. Did some metas in PoF, Casino event and Bloodstone Fen to test it out. It definitely is THE mount to have! Even events that don't exactly require a lot of manuverability like Casino, it's just so much easier to get from A to B, and it controls so good! Crystal Champion mastery helps a LOT in making it fly further. Practically cut my Bloodstone Fen farming by half!!! No more seeking updrafts and obtuse roundabout routes to get to the nodes! The QoL i got with the Skyscale is insane! I thought i'd never have a Skyscale because i heard the horror stories on how difficult and expensive it is to obtain. For the longest time i didn't even consider getting it, i tought i'd just have to do without it, but i'm glad i did it, and it wasn't even that bad. Except the grindy part with the Saddle, the rest was pretty fun! Griffin is done for a while now, just have to make some money for the bought items and i'll have all the mounts! > @"medivh.4725" said: > I don't even want to or dare start the skyscale after noticing its list of requirements and quest? Just insane I thought that too, but you know what, it's totally worth it. You won't know how much until you have it, but definitely make it your long term goal, you'll be glad you did it!
  12. Just stop trying to defend the removal of a freaking dodge, if this happened to a Firebrand or a Warrior because "ooh 5 seconds weapon switch cooldown is too OP - we need a trade off", Anet would be out of business by the next day how much abuse the cummunity would give them. There is no valid reason to have 1 dodge when the entire game is based on everyone having 2. If they really thought this was a good idea they would have removed it in PvE too, but in PvE, mirage can still dodge twice. I wonder why...

Nothing to do with core traits. > > I know, but the especs can and do influence core mechanics too. I didn't write anything about traits, so not sure what you're responding to. Right, i meant specs, not traits. My bad. It was late. Core mechanic means a mechanic that is universal across all professions, meaning dodge. Yes, some especs can change it such as Mirage and Daredevil, but it should never fall below 2 for the simple reason that all the AOE sizes, all the skills, specs and indeed traits are balanced around being able to use 2 dodges, to either dodge once then have 1 available or double dodge to get out of a large AOE. Removing the ability to double dodge and having the 1 remaining be on such a long cooldown killed the Mirage. Not to mention how jarring it is to have to re-learn what everyone else takes for granted, and even if you kinda learn it, you're still at such a huge disadvantage that it's not even funny.
  14. > @"Nocta.9834" said: > ah thankyou, yep that worked, i was thinking youd lose all progression if you switched, so didnt want to risk it! Nah, you can switch whenever without losing progress. It just costs some currency. I find it best to have multiple characters, each with 2 crafting skillls maxed rather than constantly switching. But if you want to keep all your crafting on one character, and you switch crafting disciplines very often, you might want to look into this: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Additional_Crafting_License
  15. You can only have 2 active at one time unless you buy a gemstore item. You can switch active crafting disciplines by talking to a crafting master.

The most useful to me i think has been the Bunny! It's amazing how such an "early" mount will still be relevant later. Speaks volumes on the great design of the mounts! I mean, even when i had the borrowed skyscale mount in Dragonfall, i still used the Springer a lot of the times. The least one i use is the jackal but only because it's so specific that i don't know where to use it instead of just using the Raptor. Unless there's a sand portal, Raptor is almost always better. Jackal is basically reduced to "a thing you use to enter portals", and there's not many of those around. I wish they could implement more uses for it, some sand roads like in PoF, those are amazing, running on sand so high up! But criminally underused. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I already got the beetle and i'ts literally amazing how fast i can get to places with it! Sometimes i drift wrong and end up splat in a wall or off a cliff but that's the fun of it. In more flat maps, it's THE mount to use! Amazing mount! I ended up using it more than i thought i would. I thought i'd get it for completion sake, but now it's my go to mount! > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Plus, i know i'll use other mounts as well when i get the griffon and skycale. Probably less, but they did make sure that the flying ones won't invalidate the ground ones and that's admirable. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Jackal really is the least useful mount. Raptor is useful when you have gaps to go over, or lots of flat land with obstacles. Skimmer for bodies of water. Beetle for vroom vroom. Bunny can still scale heights faster than Skyscale, Griffon for vroom vroom in the air. However, Skyscale is all around useful everywhere. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Disagree with jackal. I think people would use more of the mounts more often rather than sitting on one particular mount 95% of the time. I know I would. Oh, that would indeed be great! I wonder if they'll ever make that happen.

Raptor is useful when you have gaps to go over, or lots of flat land with obstacles. Skimmer for bodies of water. Beetle for vroom vroom. The crit kitten! ![](https://i.imgur.com/lrAoG1x.jpg "") Years ago when this game came out, when i saw the mesmer profession, i had to make a Charr be a mesmer! Never regretted it, my best character and my main! I'm so used to a Charr being a mesmer that i no longer even question it! And they have such unique combat animations that kinda "feel" heavy, but then you blink around and explode in butterflies and it never ceases to amaze me!

I know that, but that requires alt tabbing out of the game. Doesn't really look good for the company when players have to jump through hoops just to preview skin, and it's even worse when that skin is a premium currency skin you have to pay for with real money. Plus, you run into the same issues as the store preview if you want to see your character weilding the weapon. Idk, it just seems unprofessional that's all...

I play on 1440p and i can't see most weapons fully when in the shop preview. So, how exactly are you seeing them fully? Is there a trick or something?

  25. > @"kharmin.7683" said: > Good point. I assumed if one had the tome then one would also have the scrolls, but that's not necessarily the case. They should rename that item to "season 4 scroll folder" instead of a tome. A tome implies that the content is already in it, but it is not, and the description supports that. So it's basically a folder you put your scrolls in.
