No it's not. If you care about surviving instead of fighting, then play a survival game. Effective bunkering destroys the mechanic of a capture point based game mode.
  2. What do you mean with "attack value"? You have only weapon strength and power/ferocity as damage affecting values on a (direct damage) weapon. I guess you meant weapon strength... _/edit: corrected an error_
  3. I tested it, after reading your comment. My normal gear is full ascended (legendary). I replaced the legendary greatsword with a white level 80 greatsword. My results: The weapon strength is irrelevant, but the attributes have an impact. You will deal more damage in reaper shroud with ascended gear compared to exotic gear, but the difference is only based on the difference in your damage attributes (power or condi). That difference is very small. Example: Full berserk ascended gear: 1381 power Full berserk exotic gear: 1289 power As you can see, that's only about 7% difference in power and damage in reaper shroud. Side Note: Core shroud does calculate the damage based on weapon strength and attributes. Example: If you run staff and axe/focus on a core build, you will deal 10% more damage in shroud, when you switch to staff before entering shroud as two handed weapons have a 10% higher weapon strength than one handed weapons.

  5. > @"Master Ketsu.4569" said: > Yes, and those changes are hilariously insignificant. Wasn't minion master the only necro build people complained about recently (for whatever reason)? And it saw a nerf. Besides that: Speed rune was nerfed and a speed rune nerf is always a necro nerf, as long as the leaps and teleports of other classes are not touched. The swiftness uptime of necro is a joke compared to 1 year ago: Agility sigil removed: no swiftness on weaponswap Spectral Walk cooldown increased: less swiftness coverage Speed Rune nerf 1: +20% swiftness duration instead of the former +50% Speed Rune nerf 2: movement speed bonus reduced from +66% to +50% Necro is slowly creeping back to pre PoF mobility levels, while all other classes can keep their precious mobility powercreep in terms of added leaps and teleports. If you still can not kite shroud after this patch, then I don't know how to help you.
  6. > @"PrinceValentine.9320" said: > I like playing Firebrand because of how reactive you need to be to play this class but I have heard some complaints about Firebrand overperforming as a support class. I don't see that many firebrands, not as many as scourge's, dh's, and spellbreakers. You can find complaints about everything. That means nothing. Firebrand has seen numerous nerfs in its support capabilities. Since ANet stopped the nerfing, it is pretty much there, where ANet wants to see it and won't see any further nerfs. If you removed firebrand in the current state of the game, melee would become unplayable as a hammer warrior and cc tempest frontline would lock down whole zergs for ages. We would be back at pirateship over night.

I think it might be better to balance based on high level ranked. Because the majority of games are ranked games. And in ranked only duo que is allowed. Uncoordinated games are very different from MAT games. Therefore, the meta on the metabattle might be slightly misguilded. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > The majority of games are low ranked games. They should not be excluded either, maybe even considered first. When you kitten off your playerbase, nobody will care about the few good players. Of course experince players are better than newbies. If you focus on balancing on lower tiers then the game will be more kitten, personal skill does not matter, and what matters are class and comp. This bad trend has been in place for a while. This is why, when I play a fresh new accout despite winning 1v1 and 1v2 at far, yet I still lost my second placement. > > > > > > > > > > > > This game has good pvp system. If you have toxic builds which leads to 50% of those to quit the game, nobody will be happy. People already complain about low population, we all - and Anet first - need to start considering why that is. > > > > What do you mean by toxic builds? I think there will be more toxic builds if balance based on lower rank,. > > All those one-shot builds before February like FA weaver and power mesmer. > All those stealth-condi builds like condi thief or - currently - burn DH (which is strong even in higher brackets, but way less prevalent). > All those AI builds like MM necros. > > Buffing because of lower ranks might be difficult to do, but nerfing needs to be done. Otherwise it would be like doing tax regulations only for the super rich. Surprise - the people are not happy with it. Or, in our case, we have low population. The builds you mentioned are a result of design decisions, not of balancing. The reason why they work against low skill players is that these players lack the awareness of them. Having the awareness can be called skill and skill should decide the outcome of a fight. No balance patch will solve the issue that bronze division is another game than plat division. Classes would require a complete rework to equal that. The game went into this direction with the release of the first addon. Before that the overall complexity was that low that design reworks were realistic options. It's too late now and it gets worse with every new addon.
  8. > @"Stormcrow.7513" said: > my kinda big question is will the 2k resolution help "fix" some of the bad textures in gw2. The game creates the textures, not the monitor. You can run a game from 1999 in 4K and the textures will still be poor. Besides that the texture quality of Guild Wars 2 is not even high enough to even use the potential of a 1080p monitor. The game runs fine with graphics cards with 2 GB of video memory. To put that into perspective: To receive an overal texture quality that exceeds the resolution of a 1080p display, you need a good 6 to 8 GB of video memory. True 4k textures require 16GB of VRAM. It doesn't exist a single game currently, that has such good textures, so the high resolution is only for pixel clarity (less flickering of small details and a sharper look of shader effects), but not texture quality.
  9. > @"Dadnir.5038" said: > you could say that the overall 30% damage nerf in PvP/WvW was a buff for the necromancer since it's designed to strive on longer fights. It isn't as significant as many people think. A soldier geared reaper can make a better frontliner than before if you just look at the initial sustain. But on the other hand critical sustain skills received cooldown increases, which increases your recovery times. Additionally necro and reaper still can not be healed in shroud, which is a big disadvantage. When you miss the healing burst because you are in shroud, then you die and 30% more or less damage don't make a difference. When you leave shroud, then you have to eat all the damage for the next 10 seconds, while other classes have blocks or invulnerabilities. So leaving shroud to receive a heal might kill you 5 seconds later. The things above are the reasons I never join the pug zerg. Even on soldier gear you have misplaced sustain windows. Marauder is still not viable when you are focussed by more than one player. You will melt in the blink of an eye. As a solo roaming player I can say, that while marauder was and still is trash, soldier gear was better before the patch because the non-crit damage was high enough to be able to kill almost everything in a 1v1 while necro has been very tanky. After the patch there are a lot of unkillable encounters and encounters that can peel you with hit and run until shroud is eliminated and which you can never pressure to mentionable extends. So the situation actually got worse with the damage nerf. The by far easiest encounters for me are other necros. They are so easy to counter. Run when barrier or shroud is up. Burst when it's down. Wurm has a huge cast time and so never comes surprisingly and spectral walk does also show you where the necro will end. The whole class has huge tells for everything it does.
  10. Buffs that affected the dps of power reaper have been the rework of well of darkness to a damaging well, that also generates chill and the reduction of the well cooldowns in PvE (because the wells trait in blood magic was deleted and the reduction it granted became baseline). This brought the dps to 34k at the golem, which would be awesome, if we had the year 2016. In 2021 this is the bottom of the barrel and close to inacceptable.
  11. > @"maddoctor.2738" said: > Worth noting that the CPU/GPU on the PS4 is much more powerful than either game's minimum requirements The CPU isn't. The gaming performance of an 8 core Kabini Jaguar @ ~2 GHz (the CPU in the last gen consoles) is comparable to a Sandy Bridge i3 (2 cores 4 threads) from 2011 - if (!) the game can utilize all cores, which is a challenge. GW2 can't. The for GW2 important single threaded performance (because the game runs pretty fast in a thread limit) of current CPUs is more then 4 times higher than of the Jaguar. That's btw. even the marketing numbers of Sony and MS for the CPUs in their new consoles. And we all know how crappy the game runs even on modern CPUs. Besides that: Do you know how ESO and GW2 look and run when you play them with minimum spec hardware? Like a game from the early 2000s @ sub 30 fps.

  13. There are a few sigils in PvP that actually do something - like energy, cleansing, doom. Time to remove them! And carrion and valkyre are too tanky. 900 vita is not acceptble (esp. not for these pesky necros). They should also be removed.

It's mostly a boon bot atm. > And yet the firebrand is still the top tier primary support, is it not? > > Also, 0 nerfs? The competetive split absolutely gutted many traits. Healing modifiers got cut in half. Yes that includes purity of purpose, which saw a 50-75% reduction in boon durations. And yet the scrapper is more common than ever. This alone should tell you it is a global problem. Even deleting it would do nothing, other classes pick up the slack because they are equally as strong or stronger. Purity of Purpose is a problem. Even when the boons it creates have only a 1 second base duration, the group mechanic of this trait is too strong. Scourge has a similar mechanic, but it works only on the scourge. Image how ridiculous scourge would be if it could share the effect of Feed from Corruption with its group (even at reduced durations). Long story short: Purity of Purpose should just work for the engineer itself, but not for the group. The boon durations should increase slightly as a compensation of course.

Please stop it finally. Your boonbeast build (yes the one you played yourself) outperforms this by miles. It has more sustain, more damage and more mobility. Pop your boons, cast axe5 and facetank that necro => shroud gone! That useless number dropping... 230% crit damage, 3 stunbreaks, 22k HP ... which clueless newbie do you want to impress with that? But since you like number dropping: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Soul_Spiral WvW multiplier: 2.7 https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Whirling_Defense WvW multiplier: 5.28 Had a good laugh? I had one! Want another example?: What do you think how much damage a Spinal Shivers, full marauder gear, that removes 3 boons, deals to a boonbeast in WvW? I can tell you: ~ 3k critical damage! With a 2.6 multiplier!
  16. The CPU of the PS4 can't handle the workload of the game. At boss fights and in WvW you'd get less than 30 fps even at lowest graphics settings, which look worse than Guild Wars 1 from 2004 (and run a lot worse because of the much higher player count and the open world design of Guild Wars 2). No PS4 player would accept such graphics at such a low performance. This kind of game design doesn't suit the PS4. And the Switch ... good joke.
  17. > @"Threather.9354" said: > People, if it takes all day to upgrade SM, not only it requires organization but it also comes with glory. > > Obviously SM that takes 4 times longer to upgrade is _spends also several times longer unupgraded_ as it is also easier to lose. So instead of T3 SM existing every day, it might only exist every 4 days. Much better situation, I really fail to see your guys logic that "it does little to nothing". The logic is that this wouldn't be necessary when each tier was actually equal in strength (the combination of numbers, organisation and skill level) like it should be. This leads to the conclusion that increasing the upgrading time is just a bandaid. SM has weak spots everywhere and constantly be sieged. Combine that with the fact, that the defenders have to defend it against 2 sides and it becomes balanced and you can reduce the issues to "one side is as strong or even stronger than the other two sides together" and if this happens, then we don't need to talk about stone mist but about general population balancing. In the matchups I witness, a T3 SM for days is only a symptome of a badly balanced matchup and this matchup isn't fun on any of the 4 maps.
  18. This is directly related to population imbalances. At times when all 3 sides have equal numbers, SM is flipped frequently (at least in EU, can't speak about NA). So fix the cause and you will also fix the issue. What you suggested are just bandaids. The whole point of SM is, that it is pretty much all the time a battle between 3 sides and so is impossible to hold for forever for one side - IF the populations are balanced.
  19. > @"Stand The Wall.6987" said: > mesmer any spec (mirage is still fairly common but a fraction of the threat it used to be) Since the OP did also mention WvW: Mirage (power and condi) is extremely strong in WvW. Endurance rune and food is mandatory, but with both there is absolutely no excuse for sucking with the spec. And mirage didn't used to be a "threat". It used to be completely broken with 5 seconds of evasion while dishing out absurd damage and afterwards having thief like disengage capability.
  20. > @"PrinceValentine.9320" said: > I didnt know there are rangers who use daggers on both hands. I've seen D/D + GS rangers a few times in WvW. Quite funny to watch all this leaping and evading and blocking. Even though D/D is a condi weapon combo in the first place, the direct damage modifiers are good enough, that D/D is viable as a direct damage support weapon to the burst of GS. If necro D/D worked like this, that would be great. It's niche but not trash like D/D for necro.
  21. There exists no balance patch preview for 2021.
  22. Armor pieces are too expensive to create. Because of the modular design, they have to be adjusted to a ton of possible combinations with other armor pieces and character customisation options (body shape, head size, haircut...). This becomes worse with every additional armor in the game. So maybe they would sell a little better, but they would be a lot more expensive to develop and create less profit than the outfits at the end of the day. If armor pieces would be more profitable for anet, then they would simply add more of them.
  23. 1. If you are only paying attention to the red health bar, when fighting a necro you are doing it wrong. Shroud replaces health when up. That's the grey/green bar below the red bar. 2. Barrier adds on top of the health, but this isn't a necro thing. Other classes are even better at barrier spamming. So you should have noticed the barrier mechanic in other encounters too. Pretty sure 1. is your problem.
