  1. I'll be honest. The leaderboards and the race to glory of the achievement points is a bit of silly in my opinion. To me, Achievement points are a personal reward and not something that should be competitive and due to the nature I do not take it as competitive either. The main reason is that the competition never was fair. The leaderboards where introduced about 9 months after release. By then there where allready unobtainable points (a few). More important, it was never clear you needed to keep track of all achievement points in a given time. So to reach the top of the leaderboards, you needed to just have the OCD to be completionist in nature to do those early AP's and therefor it is not a sign of being an excellent player. Should they stop with the leaderboards?? Nah! Those in the lead are proud about it and let them be. The boards are pretty obscure anyways. This also invalidates the argument to keep increasing the cap. I personally think that they are stuck here. they introduced the cap to protect the value of the leaderboards and by removing it, they devaluate the same leaderboard. They still do this with the unobtainable AP's, but originally it was in the planning to rerelease living world season one in a replayable format. As they left this, they have no way to remove the unobtainable AP's My solution is to forget about the leaderboards, but also not changing anyting to them. Make AP's something truly personal. Keep the cap, but!! Also add something that continues forever as an extra reward once you reached the cap.
  2. Most good requests, but I doubt any of them will make a difference. The issue to me is plain and simple. 1: To make guilds matter, they should offer something unique that is not available in the game in any other way. 2: People dislike stuff being added exclusivly for guilds as people dislike being forced into guilds. the solution is to understand the problem guilds are experiencing. To me the real issue is that guilds should look at themself to make themself matter. It is what makes a guild succesfull and stand out to the rest of them. Why look at arenanet to make you special and stand out if you fail to do that yourself? all the things you ask are very good quality of life changes, but I doubt they will contribute to make boring guilds less boring. To have a good guild experience make a good guild. How to do this? It can be done in various ways, but organising events multiple times per week. Offer fun things to do AND find members that fit the guild and stop trying to make the guild fitting for members who want a sologame with a hall with a few services. (note to my last remark, unless that is what you want your guild to offer. I am in three guilds made for people who enjoy farming. It has services in the hall optimised for this and resources nodes in different tiers and different halls so together they yield maximum results. This too is a way to attrack players, but they will be farmers who enjoy such a service. They are not there for having a good time, if they would they would not be in those three guilds.)

They’re also hard to survive in due to Jormag, enough to push even the norn out. I know the inquest are kinda famous for being able to set up bases in supposedly inaccessible regions, but still. > > We’ve also seen from the fact they have icebrood in the crucible and their appearances in maps like Snowden Drifts (for the ley energy events during season 3) that they’re capable of making expeditions into the shiverpeaks. To add to the list of arguments, there is an inquest base in Sorrow's embrace, which is in the shiverpeaks. There is a presence of Jormag in Dredgehaunt cliffs. As I recall correctly this was stronger about 6 years before the original game (in Edge of Destiny, Jormag's champion was present at the gates of Hoelbrak. If I'm correct this is at Talecrafting Steading).
  4. I want them to be creative. To not do what we ask, demand, but use their own creativity. In those situations I loved the content they made the most. so none listed just cause they are listed.
  5. I would not get your hopes up. Mounts are PoF content. PoF will turn free to play when EoD will arrive and everything there will not get any update except gemstore stuff. EoD will concentrate on new content and mechanics.
  6. Revenge of the Skritt, Every hour in specific maps, the Skritt are invading and attacking players. The amount of attention you get depends on how shiny you are. The more ascended and legendary gear you have decides how many skritt are after you and how strong they are. Obviously you can help eachother. defeating all the skritt in the map ends the event. All Skritt drop shinies (loot) and the event itself is also rewarded.
  7. the main issue is why Arenanet should do this? It is allready possible to buy access to another vip lounge. What I would like to see is a vip lounge select license instead of changing permament and 2 week access vip lounges. This vip lounge select license let you access all vip lounges as much as you want, but all services are not available for you (so you can walk around, see the services available and enjoy the scenery, but when you talk to e.g. the merchant, the merchant window does not pop up. When you are in a vip area and you click the vip lounge select license, you can choose to leave and check another, or to pick that lounge. The vip lounge select license is consumed then and you recieve the scroll or ticket or key belonging to this. This means people can try the lounges before hand and do not have to wait for their favourite one to be available. obviously it would be good if there is a 2 week option and a permanent option.
  8. I actually have been promoting that arena net take less influence by the community. I think the original game that they made without our input was a lot better then the stuff added later cause of popular demand. Having said that, there is nothing wrong with some human interaction and actually teasing a bit about what they are doing. This is something they also did better in the pre-release Era with introduction of classes, beta weekends and more. Having said that, doing it on a weekly base is likely too much. But once a month like they used to do should be possible.
  9. > @"Bvhjdbvkjf.1987" said: > @"mercury ranique.2170" These all sound like super helpful questions... they also sound like a great way to lead a lurker on the forums to hack my account. What's next, you want to know exactly how many alphanumeric characters long my password is? I get that you're trying to be reassuring, but it's probably best you don't do so in this manner going forward, if you ask me. > > Look, I get the point, I've had my account here since June of 2012 and it (along with all my other gaming accounts) is at risk of one screw up and loosing everything. It's not about not wanting to provide them my phone number, it's about convenience and 2-factor authentication is for people not like me. I don't need help keeping things secure, it was a simple suggestion that doesn't even affect the players who are willing to use the extra step. You would think I asked to break a profession or something with all this negative feedback geez... it's not about taking the option away entirely it's about making it less spammed to the customers. But it's whatever, guess I'll just chalk it up to just another one of those things bound to annoy me about this game. Thanks anyways. The point of the entire question to enable two factor authentication is that without you, you take a risk. This risk is not just harmfull to your account, but also to the entire game as a hacked account enables access to people hacking, cheating, botting and spamming. So in short. It is with very good reason you keep being asked the question and there is a good reason not having a way of turning it off. having two factor authentication enabled is a lesser inconvinience then having the question in the login process. And it should be that way.
  10. people often asume someone is the same account just cause it has a toon with a simular name and actions. But it is doubtfull that it is actually the same account. Actions are being taken. Unfortunally, those people doing bad things that are against the ToS often do more bad things. A good example would be stealling accounts and stealing creditcards to make fake accounts.

And even if you answer no and type it out every single time, you are still at risk. Using two way authentication is not 100% save but eliminates many risks you are taking right now. You think you are save and that is exactly why it is important to remind you that you are not and should enable sms authentication. I also do not know the hesitation. Perhaps it is cause you share your phonenumber? Arenanet is active in the EU and EU regulations on privacy are pretty strict. They can only use your number for the reason they obtained it for (so sending you this text message for authentication). Any other use would be a breach of the EU privacy regulations.
  12. > @"Bvhjdbvkjf.1987" said: > a) I don't share my passwords and b) it's just a game. So many people have stated that they are secure with just a password, but they really where not. there are so many hacking tools that can reveal your passwords. 13. Please please please use SMS authentication. Not only is it the best way to protect your account from being hacked. But it also helps keeping the game clean of gold sell spam and farmbots. If you, for some reason, get a new phone number, all it takes is a supportticket to resolve it and it is usually fixed within a few hours. Thank you for keeping the game safe.
  14. I think I agree with elementalist, although all classes have ups and downs. The main pro for elementalist is that you can easily switch between healing, CC and dps. so you can assist him in anyways. The downside is that the elementalist in basis is low in stats and harder to defend. But for an experienced player this should not be a big issue. On top this could also help your son in helping you as well and watch out for others in trouble (if this is something you would want to add)
  15. The game is per definition an open world MMO. So you can never decide to play alone. You will meet people and they will do the same thing. But you are not forced to interact with them and you do not need others for most of the content.
  16. In my opinion, doing trading (like in the real world) also has an element of speculation in it. A trader always risk a devaluation of their item due to governments regulations or mother nature. This is in my opinion equal to what happened here.
  17. > @"anduriell.6280" said: > We should have both, dwarves and tengus. With primordius back i don't understand we don't see them more often (the dwarves). Tengus are from Cantha right? Dwarves have always been fighting the destroyers and primordus in the depths of Tyria. They are now introduced as we prepare to fight primordus. Thengy are originally from both Cantha and Tyria. They where in GW1 in Tyria as a regular enemy/trashmob with little to no backgroud except that they needed to be killed. In Factions they got more lore. The Tengu in factions where involved in the Tengu wars that ended in a peace treaty with the humans. So they where peacefull and more envolved in the story. After GW1, the humans in Cantha become again hostile with the Tengu and tried to purge them, They have fled to Tyria and together with the Tyrian Tengu they founded the dominion of winds. They trade with the other races but stay secluded at least till not.
  18. both elite specialisations can be unlocked and you do not need an elite specialisation to do so. So if you dislike scrapper you can ignore it fully and go with a core build to get the hero points for holo. There are 1299 heropoints in game. If you have unlocked all for scrapper you used 408 heropints (250 on scrapper and 158 on core). You alleady started on holo, but let's asume you did not. This means you still need 250 more heropoints while there are 891 heropoints in the game. The easiest way to get them is to start a heropoint train. But also with a small team it is relativly easy. You can start a new character, but keep in mind that you would still like to get all elite specialisations unlocked and possibly more (just to have a headstart for the next elite specialisation). It is perfectly well possible to do this with a core build or a scrapper build. Perhaps look into getting a proper build. As for gear, just get bezerker gear, this goes well with holosmith as well.
  19. > @"lare.5129" said: > most all talks in private and public discord boards now > only some old casuals sometimes put messages in map chat Did you just call me old??!! (Actually I am!) Jokes aside. Most people do not play an MMORPG for random social interaction. they do it to play a game with others. Wether it is in a guild or in pugs. There is a good amount of social interaction in group content, but it is still "efficient" for the task ahead. For Lolly gagging you need to go to ~~skyrim~~ chatrooms. Some guilds have discords that do this a lot.
  20. So 1000 people are on the street demanding change and immediatly the 100.000 people who are at home being sattisfied should be ignored. The fact that people voice themself does not say anything bout the popularity of this subject.
  21. Maybe look in your region for third party sellers of path of fire. Just make sure you never buy a second hand key (it does not work) and that you buy from a party that you trust. Once you bought path of fire, anything else can be farmed ingame (and path of fire comes with 5 mounts to start with)
  22. > @"Blood Red Arachnid.2493" said: > Check old screenshots? You might have taken one with the guild tag hovering over your head. If you reinstalled, also check your onedrive. The screenshot folder for GW2 is standard backupped in one drive. (Or atleast it is for me and I do not recall putting it into the synced folders)
  23. my goal is to enjoy myself atleast as much as I did in 2020 when playing and not make it to be a chore
  24. Claiming you write on behalf of others is poor argumantation. You need a mandate to do so and it does not seem you have one. That does not mean tha tI do not welcome your argument, but the starting claims just makes it weaker and not stronger. Write it from your own perspective what you would like to be changed and why. I personally disagree with you. There is not much wrong with the older maps and the core maps. I do think the game needs some renewal. I would rather see them do this in new content. A good example would be the intro of a new level 0 tot 80 experience for players with the latest expansion. It gives room for the introduction of new races, looks and backstories, but also with new low level maps. Like in GW1, the new experience can be made more efficient and quicker. the old zones might get deserted except for nostalgic and F2P players, but that should not be a big problem. It is like GW1. With GW2 you can still enjoy GW1 if you want, it is just not maintained and GW2 gives a more modern experience.
  25. > @"Lucio.4190" said: > @"kharmin.7683" Thank you! Those two links pretty much explains everything. > If we can guarantee that a new language will give Guild Wars 2 at least 1 million (or some other high number) new active players, that would probably be a reason for implementing the new language. With that said, I don't believe anyone can guarantee that and we will have to do with what we have. > It is not that simple. There is a huge different between the original implementation of the four languages and implementing additional ones at this point. This is 2 expansions, 4 seasons of living world AND tracking and tracing all fixes to the original game and the addtional content released. I doubt they even have a full script of the current game to translate. They made scripts for each release and for each change, but not what is currently in game, This isn't only about story, but also ingame text like battle cries and changes to this. A long story short. I think you need a gaming community atleast 3 times as large as the smallest community of the four languages (I would guess this is french, based on the size of the native speakers in this tongue). Last of all, I do think there is more to it then just the size of the language, but also how many people do not speak any of the other languages. I'm native dutch and I know there is a very big community of dutch speaking players, but most of us speak english and the lack of a dutch language is no limitation for most gamers in my country. The four languages are the most popular ones for most games and those speaking other languages are more used to playing in e.g. english.
