  1. Honestly the titles/gizmos are kind of a joke in the current state of pvp. Gizmos are rewards for being friends with one of the top teams, and high rank titles are often just the result of metagaming the poor ranked system or taking advantage of overtuned builds from one season. Its all just elitism and ego boosting in a game with barely any competition.

I can guarantee you I'll get more dmg out of fgs in a 16s duration (time to cast all 4 swords) than the burning from sword. I said better at cleaving. In a practical situation guards can use other skills while soj is down, or they can put it on a downstate and focus another target. fgs on downed targets can barely out-dps 1 person rezzing, and the ele has to be zerker and stay alive somehow. Soj forces cleanses to keep downstates alive, and most builds dont have enough group cleanses, if any, to get them up.
  3. Guards spinny sword of fire is better at cleaving than a zerker ele's fgs.
  4. everyone seems to be playing trapper dh right now.
  5. The forums arent representative of popularity. As much as I dislike the focus on living world development, its the gamemode that the majority of players actually play. The real question is whether or not gw2 could have focused on other gamemodes and been more successful, but it just ends up being speculation. This is the state of the game, like it or not.
  6. Living world lacks replayable content, challenge, and rewards. The best living world does is add a new meta event farm each map. Challenging & rewarding content keeps people around, and gw2 has abandoned both of those.
  7. The big problems with holo are: - High heat is very easy to upkeep while avoiding overheating, giving passive damage scaling and passive might with lasers edge and ECSU. There are a lot of easy tricks you can use to maintain high heat and avoid overheating such as using the pulsing heat of corona burst, or using elixir S or X when deactivate forge is on cooldown. - A redundantly overpowered mobility skill that leaps, does considerable damage, grants superspeed, and removes cripple, chill, and immob when traited. - Forge skills are all high impact, easy to land abilities with low cooldowns. The reason nades are so op for holo in particular (without considering damage) is because they have the mobility to endlessly kite most builds with them. Also with engi's utility & traits they have the means to set up low-telegraph burst and contest in melee. When you look at it objectively, holo gains exceptional mobility and sustained damage over core engi. Solutions to engi/holo are: - Redesign flashbang. - 2s cd on holo leap was insanity. 4s cd nerf was no where near a solution. Either get rid of the condi removal and maybe reduce super speed duration on CC:Zephyr, or increase the cd by a lot. - Make overheating an actual concern, or redesign it But really, the game is powercrept to hell and no realistic change will ever be satisfactory.

Why you have that hope is unthinkable for me. The water is wet and this is ok. > Its fine to have differing opinions on pvp. However there are a lot of valid arguments about how pvp is flawed, and I tend to agree with them.

No, they a not for that. This is cosmetic minor changes for people once more time look on triats. Thats all. So waiting something from balance patch like "fundamentally flawed" is wrong way. Same wait from game changes "fundamentally flawed" no. There is still fun to be had for some people, but I and many others have grown tired of the same old problems not being addressed. Over the years I have hoped the game would change to be more competitive with less power creep, but each xpac has done the opposite.

Leave them to rot with conquest, and complain why the game keeps shrinking in population and filled with absurd amount of bots, and keep proposing dumb and dumber nerfs and changes. The game mode has no soul left and it's a shame. > > I come here, try to revitalize GW2 PvP back to glory days. Gw2 is old and anet is never going to prioritize pvp development. Even if they did it would take far more than they are capable of to "fix" pvp. I would love to go back and relive the glory days of cod 4, halo 3, wow wotlk, but its never going to happen.

If someone make 50 accounts and write "pvp is good" this is will be enough? > Try argument yours words for better discussion/ > Gameplay is bad because class design is fundamentally flawed. Balance patches wont change that, and the xpac will probably only introduce more broken elite specs. Every single class has several builds that rely on terrible design decisions, like doing damage while evading, spamming aoe or cc, or having constant sustain/kiting potential. Even if they arent meta, its not fun to fight.
  14. The xpac will probably change pvp a fair bit if there are elite specs. Meta builds might change before then, but gameplay will still be as bad as ever.
  15. Its an old game. Prestige and rewards lose their meaning after 8+ years.

Its nice to see first impressions in a game full of veterans especially when the steam release is coming, but I think you need to put more time into learning the game before you are really able to critique it. > > Despite what you might think, even feedbacks coming from new players playing WvW for the first time are useful, because that is the welcome ticket they get and the future of WvW depends almost entirely on the welcome experience. I agree it is important for new players to have a voice, but wvw has not really changed since around HoT times. It is very much a veterans gamemode at this point. Anyways that is kind of beside the point here. Full dps elementalist is the glassiest class in the game, so being critical about dying on a zerker melee build kind of sounds like you are trolling. Dying because you are out of position and dont understand pvp builds/fights should be considered standard in pretty much every competitive game. Gw2 is faster paced and has a much higher skill cap than other mmos but that doesnt mean its a flaw. You will find that the majority of people still playing pvp and wvw do so because they love the combat more than any other game.
  18. Looks alright, no cc nerfs though. Still, nerfs to nades and 10 person wvw skills are better late than never.
  19. 1. Great sportsmanship. They never troll, bm, or rage quit. 2. Plays meta builds. They are slow and predictable, but they try to pull their weight by playing builds that complement their playstyle. 3. Never farms kills. Their rotations may be a bit wack, but they are playing the objectives despite their limited intelligence.

  21. Ele staff is actually one of the best designed and balanced weapons. Its just fallen very far behind after 8 years of power creep.
  22. Damage calculations like in WF are definitely interesting, but honestly that game is a power crept nightmare and the gameplay is suffering because of it. There is elegance in simple but effective systems and i think adding more complexity to gw2 stats would do more harm than good.
  23. I think it would be fun to have a big ffa arena in the open world even if it had pve balance. However, the pve crowd will unanimously be against it and a lot of pvp/wvw people would rightfully see it as a broken mess.
