Casino coins: essentially useless

Recommended Posts

I hadn't really paid attention to Casino Coins. I rode around on various mounts picking them up if the event came up while I was in Amnoon. Was trying for The Cutting Edge, and noticed I had a pile of them in my bank. Thought I would check out what I could get with them... imagine my utter surprise when the answer to that was "Absolutely nothing of value".

Seriously. That's it? Minis and kites. Be still my beating heart.

Anyone else underwhelmed?

Frankly, I like to purchase things that help my character(s). Not really interested in playing Malibu Barbie dress-up.

What did you want exactly? Ascended gear? Most people are going to have exotic at that point, and you don't need 8 suits of exotic armor or weapons floating around. This game is based around skins from day one. Because it's relatively easy to get everything but ascended and even ascended once you have it, it's done. Malibu Barbie Dressup, as you put it, is a big part of the end game. Coins are easy to get. The rewards are exactly what they're supposed to be.

Either recipes or food or dyes or something...or at the very least the ability to click Use All to get rid of them. It's a sad state if looking pretty is a big part of the end game, however. Even sadder that people are okay with that. Yes, coins are easy to get - but so are things like unbound and volatile magic. In fact, I would argue those are easier, since you don't have to wait for an event to spawn to get them.

In my opinion it's one of the more relaxing and fun events in the game. The rewards are a nice bonus.

I want a Confetti Infusion to be available for purchase for 20k Casino Coins!

Only if you can click Use All - otherwise you are clicking several hundred times. Ridiculous. As someone above said, will just buy unidentified green stuff. At least that's something I can make silver off of.

Plenty of places where recipes are available but useless anyway. Food too. There's tons of food in this game but I only use half a dozen. So unless it's the good food or the good recipes, it's again useless. I could see unided dyes for some of it. But unided greens can become rares or even exotics, with high enough magic find. I save all my unids, and use buffs, eventually to ID them all and I get a ton of rares and exotics. Not sure why people think unid's are nothing. They add to my chances to get something decent, which happens each time.

I hope people go back to do the casino after the holidays. I just started going after never really participating in it much after they introduced the new wardrobe for them. Now I want all the potions and kites and toys. I did it once seemingly alone, when the first wave resets, barely getting like 20 at a time. That wasn’t nearly as fun as when there’s more people.

Really? I won't say that fashion wars is the ONLY reason to play endgame, but it's a significant part of what endgame is about since day 1. It's not sad people are OK with that ... in fact, Anet made it pretty clear from the beginning you don't play this game because of a gear treadmill. I mean, honestly, how many dyes recipes and food do you need options for?

"Hey guys, lets make ANOTHER black dye"

I honestly don't get the complaint; the content is optional. If you don't like the rewards, don't do it. Not every single reward from content in the game needs to appeal to every single player. It's not a problem if it doesn't.

Well, good thing, am not doing it. Only did it to get the Choya Pinata - that was the only reason. I then realized I had a pile of those coins and wondered what I could use them for. Just got a bunch of unidentified greens. A lot of clicks
