well, clearly you've never experienced getting whitewashed feels like, left with only spawn spots nothing else across all maps, capping a camp only provides 100 supplies, insufficient to reclaim a keep

and if it happens to be defended, you will need a lot more supplies to reclaim it

EoTm was killed due to the 'WvW folks whining excessively to Anet that it was not fair for the EoTm folks to get the same shinies as the WvW folks. They whined and whined stating EoTM was taking away players from WvW, and EoTMers were able to get WvW rewards/ranks like 'real' WvWers. So Anet, in their infinite wisdom, listened to these whiners, and killed all XP, rewards, and fun from EOTM.

Now, 2-3 years later, Wvw is still dead/dying, the whiners are still whining excessively only now they do not have EoTM to blame so they are latching on to other excuses. Majority of the players that use to play EoTM either quit the game all together or stay in PvE land. So rather than let the pve folks experience a WvW type game mode (with reduced rewards) they tried to force these folks into the wvw game mode. Well, at least now WvW folks cannot whine that a EoTMer have the same a high rank and/or gear that the WvWers have now.

Too bad too. EoTm was great for levelling up. It was also great for introducing folks to a WvW style gameplay without scaring them away with the cheese in Wvw (forced to use specific builds, cheese 1-shot builds, populating issues, etc).

The only thing EoTM ‘lost’ was character XP. Much like WvW lost it as well.

So, what else did EoTM lose?

You are absolutely correct.

Even in the most imbalanced matches in the most absurdly off-kilter time zone, noone has ever managed to spawncamp all four maps. You're presenting a fictional scenario.

Character XP was the most important thing, as most of eotm were up levels and infinite karma train ppl not ppl trying to get ez wvw shinnyes, they could've taken just the wvw shinnyes and ranks away. Pretty sure wvwers would still complain about eotm stealing numbers from wvw, but now we now it's not true, they could just give the pve stuff back to the map.

But I think you answered it well. It was only the XP they removed.

If the Map was such a good map, people would still play it.

and the karma, or at least half of it, from what I know I think it's everything, but I might know wrong, lol. And the ranks and the shinnyes, but I agree that those things were not supposed to be there, or at least be half.

ok, let's imagine they removing all the rewards from all game mods, game would be dead in 2 months.

Oh but if game was good ppl would still be playing it

Sure, if they removed all rewards.

But they didn’t from EOTM. Reward tracks, World XP, WvW dailies, and to my knowledge, Karma.

No regular XP. That was removed. From both WvW and from EoTM.

Again, if it was such a great map, people would play it. But it’s not. They played it to level. They do that differently now.

People want to add pips to it so that instead of leveling, they will just grind the skirmish tracks for their Legendary Armor.

I wouldn't care if EoTM gave exp to level characters or karma. The people claiming it was a good intro to wvw... maybe if your idea of wvw is a giant keep trading karma train? Which is all EoTM was at its busiest. Or has everyone forgotten the 3way same guild tags in comms rotating round a map and avoiding each other?

Impossible scenario, 4 maps with 3 exits each. I've never experienced feeling its hopeless and running off to EoTM instead though, you are correct on that. I've always managed somehow.

Heck it might even balance out the servers that want fights vs. servers that just want to karma train so you get more fight guilds vs. fight guilds.

At the end of a 30 min EoTM session players at t6 participation get a Box of WvW Supplies. Maybe lower the participation gain further to balance. EoTM is easier so it should be harder to gain participation if you're going to add that.

Main WvW offers faster participation, pips, tickets, the real WvW experience. But a Box of WvW Supplies per EoTM session would be pretty good. I like this idea.

lol, they still hate the map, you can see by the comments

I hate eotm cuz it's killing wvw

nerf eotm

wvw even worse

I was wrong about eotm killing wvw, now I hate eotm even more cuz I was wrong

Reminds me of when "real" WvW players barked and whined to Anet about people "wasting" space on the borderlands by using the crafting stations, causing Anet to remove them entirely (and with them, a supply of new blood for the game mode from people who came to use them on the advice of other players and decided to stay).

Before I took a hiatus I loved EoTM. Yeah, I'm probably one of the people hardcore WvW players complained about; I don't enjoy 'real' WvW, I find it intimidating, but wanted to get some of the WvW experience and rewards in a more laidback environment, and EoTM was perfect for that. Not to mention it was a much more entertaining way to level up alts. My friends and I had hours of fun there.

Coming back after a few years to find it dead was so depressing. I'm pretty bummed about it. Now I'm stuck grinding for suitable WvW armor for suitable WvW builds so I can have no fun playing a frustrating game mode for a chance to get some of the WvW rewards. Alas.

So..,, you want suitable WvW armor and builds for... what? If you played EoTM, the builds there were.... Zerk. Only.

Again,, the rewards are better elsewhere. If WvW rewards are the reason you are ‘grinding’ maybe look to a different area?

The only thing you can get in WvW over EoTM are pips and legendary armor.

You can get that elsewhere.

I can't get Triumphant armor skins anywhere but WvW. I like to collect all the skins (yada yada Fashion Wars 2), so unfortunately I do need to play the game mode to get them. I need to get suitable WvW armor and builds to play there or else I'm (probably) gonna get bitched at. :^ )

impossible?

how's this? We (SoS) pretty much white washed all 4 maps on Week 49 of 2018, all SoR had was pretty much a camp or a tower at a times

dont know how SoR felt (must have sucked)... but it was so boring for us SoS ppl.

some people switched world with their secondary accounts to cap towers and keeps so we can get our dailies done

Fair enough.

For me, I would love the raid armor. And to me, opening EoTM to pips would be like giving me LIs for taking down bosses in T-3 fractals.

They whined and whined stating EoTM was taking away players from WvW, and EoTMers were able to get WvW rewards/ranks like 'real' WvWers. So Anet, in their infinite wisdom, listened to these whiners, and killed all XP, rewards, and fun from EOTM.

> Reminds me of when "real" WvW players barked and whined to Anet about people "wasting" space on the borderlands by using the crafting stations, causing Anet to remove them entirely (and with them, a supply of new blood for the game mode from people who came to use them on the advice of other players and decided to stay).

Crafters wasting space?

I mean, they usually go in, craft and leave, dont they?

if there's a queue already, it's faster just go to capital cities

Duellers are bigger offenders, they just trade kills to keep their participation up, since a player kill grants 10 minutes of deterioration free period.

would not be surprised if they can even automate this process of running from spawn point back to dueling spot

Eotm was like getting into the map to level and finding a super fun place

You still have to bonus karma for extra happiness

A place where you'd hang out when doing nothing on the game

Now ppl never get there, cuz there no reason to do so

The old ppl that found it fun mostly quit the map (or game) cuz map was getting empty, as 80% of population were up levers.

It was pretty awful. Enough that we swapped servers. We even tried to arrange a gvg so we could get in some fights(thank you) but enough pugs wanted action that we'd get swarmed.

And while yes you could leave spawn from a different exit soon enough you'd be scouted and swarmed. I don't blame them, pretty sure they were just bored to tears.

But. I wasn't into eotm when it was a thing and have zero, not even one achievement completed there. Ventured in twice but both times I was the only one of my color wandering around and there were a few of another color who ran me down. All those ap. Maybe someday.
