anduriell.6280 Posted December 25, 2018 Share Posted December 25, 2018 I think the competitive game would improve a lot if autoattacks from the players and its minions couldn't crit for the player and the minions (like pets). No other change. As simple as that. Because IMO what it makes combat unsustainable is getting hit every half a second for a fifth of your life pool ( ~4k ) not to mention those autos which can reach up 8k. Still big crits would be available with any other skills so the big numbers for the casuals still would be there, and not having crits on auto would fix most of the "one shot" builds. As an example the soulbeast, the problem is not the Rapid Fire which did 14k but the following 7k autos which comes later and makes impossible to heal. Same with the hammer revenant. And D\P thief. And exactly the same for every other power class. So they can't use "1 win button" and let the autos do the rest. It's a very simple solution which i think would fix almost all meme builds but still be available the builds which require some preparation for the big numbers. What do you think? The auto attacks of these classes is already their weakest skills and a minimal fraction of their dps in large fights. And vs a proper opposing zerg, projectile effects are next to useless unless they are way spread out in open field. In which case they should be strong to counteract “clouding” strategy. Jugglemonkey.8741 Posted December 25, 2018 Share Posted December 25, 2018 The problem is, if they removed crits on autos they'd likely end up increasing the base damage to compensate, which on high crit chance builds would be a damage reduction, but if you have 30% ish it could actually be a buff to damage over time because of the more consistent damage output. As for long range shot hitting for 10K, it must be a specific set up for a 1 time hit doing it. I play full glass on ranger, and it never hits anyone for 10K not even other glass targets. This change should not affect backstab itself (or malice backstab) but the autos following. Which would give any player at least a chance to recover if they dont get 3k autos every 1/4 of sec as thief dagger does not have tangible CD. There is no need to increase the base damage of the autos, already the damage output is ridiculous and there are a lot of complains about one shot builds. Which aren't anything else than a massive hit and a couple of 4k autos. This is not to change how the game plays, still most of your combos should work the same. But those relaying into absurd autos every half a second would need to reconsider the strategy and actually plan the combo secuence. For example boonbeast would see it's damage affected as most of the damage comes from 3-4k axe autos. Condis don't need to be affected by this change, i mean some builds need to be addressed but because the build does something is not suppose to happen, Burst with condis. PS: as bonus raids would become more interesting as definitely a player afking in autos would do low damage. All classes would need to squeeze better the rotations to get the best damage. This isn't like WoW or SWTOR where the combat style is to walk around eating each other's damage and the guy with better gear wins. You actually have the ability to avoid damage in GW2.
