the real hype: Bangar Ruinbringer

Recommended Posts

This single cutscene is what saved the WHOLE presentation, this guy alone(Bangar Ruinbringer) have the potential to be best villain created in GW2, hope it didnt turn in just another Joko/Caudecus and hope they dont just copy/paste(_even not intentional_) the role Admiral Daelin Proudmoore from WoW.

Enough with "cutness", we want wars and blood.

His face looks a bit narrow compared to lions

I doubt that, given Rytlock is wearing his revenancy armour.

That said, it could be happening outside the commanders' scope

He returned from his long absence with his new armor and iirc for some reason he had to return to the blood legion homelands after that hot.

Exactly. He was wearing it at the time of his arrest in Season 3.

Scar is a Disney animation. Have you never seen "The Lion King"?

I am talking about comparing him to real lions.

TBH I'm hoping most of S5 is happening outside of the Commander's scope. There are a lot of loose plot threads and NPCs that have fallen by the wayside that badly need to be addressed.

Also Jormag seemingly isn't going to use force to take over. Five of the greatest powers on Tyria tried that and the last thing they ever saw was the Commander standing over them. (At this point I'm thinking The Six actually left to avoid running afoul of the Commander.) It would definitely be a new approach to the story so far and I'd be very happy if the entirety of the new saga is the Commander trying to keep the people they've known over the years from voluntarily joining up.

But that arrest was for the senate of Black Citadel, no? Not from Bangar personally.

"After leaving the dragon lab, he was cornered by two members of the Adamant Guard who were prepared to forcibly take Rytlock, who has been stripped of his rank, to the Black Citadel for questioning."

We don't know what happened. Besides, the scene with Scar, err, Bagnar looks like it was taking place in the Black Citadel. It makes sense that the Blood Legion Imperator would come to check on his Tribune, and - once realizing he wasn't there and not having heard from him in ages - would issue an arrest warrant for neglect of duty, since Rytlock ignored all the previous letters that were commanding him to return to the Black Citadel at once.

Oh hey, another Ruinbringer thread!

I'd seen someone somewhere question whether his attitude might be directed at Rytlock primarily, and whether he'd treat the player more respectfully. I'd also seen a suggestion that he's just messing with Rytlock's head.

I'd like to think ANet would write characters with that sort of multi-dimensionality these days. If so, maybe Bangar is going to be a very interesting sort of villain.

He has an intense hatred for humans. The wiki writes it as "He is considered a "wild card" among the current three Imperators of the charr High Legions, and is said to be both distrustful and prone to rage. He has a strong hatred for humans, which overcomes his suspicions about the other two Imperators to retain a shaky alliance against the Flame Legion."

In the past he accused Rytlock of being a traitor and even demoted him to the lowest ranks because Rytlock worked with Logan to fight Kralk. And Kralk was one of the driving factors for the humans and charr to make their treaty that ended the war. So now that Kralk is gone, people are speculating if Bangar will press for war again.

Bangar is the type to do things behind the scenes for his own benefit. He doesn't trust the other legions and hates humans. So while we do not know if he will be a villain or not, her certainly has the potential to be.

Thanks for the clarification. :)

This sounds like a perfect opportunity to give different dialogue based on the player character's race, as I imagine he would talk to a human commander very differently to a charr, or even an asura, norn or sylvari.

I am struggling to comprehend this feeling of the Blood Legion Imperator being viewed as an antagonist.

Nothing about his behaviour surprises me. We know there is no love lost between Rytlock Brimstone and the Blood Legion. We know that the Blood Legion are notorious for their brutality. This encounter demonstrates everything we know about their relationship thus far.

Does this indicate in _any_ way that the Blood Legion Imperator is a villian? Absolutely not. Does it gives us a glimpse into Blood Legion Charr society? Absolutely.

I think those in the community with this speculation need to take a step back and look at the Charr as a whole before jumping to such a radical and illogical conclusion.

inst exatcly as speculation, but a quit old "wishful-thinking" that circulates on foruns that this guys whoul be a good villain. for exemple, @"Konig Des Todes.2086" and some people suggested it on 2018 that exploring that area would be a good direction. Is a matter of potential, this guy is so good to be wasted as mere "good side" character.
