It's not the highest HP ever, but it's still better than low hp, and you also have all the nice FB defenses and utility to go with it. I had completely forgotten that they replaced the original toughness bonus with vitality, guess that shows how often I check my HP on firebrand.

It feels somewhat weird to read that the small base HP pool is considered to provide a good amount of HP. Of course it tends to be sufficient, but what would that make the medium and large HP pools?
  3. I guess I can see them introducing legendary food at some point in the future. Though it would likely function similiar to legendary gear, where you get to select a food buff from the pool of existing foods, probably with some sort of cooldown to prevent a single person with legendary food from spamming out 14 ascended feasts in 2 minutes.

  5. > @"Oxstar.7643" said: > I think ANet, and indeed many of the players, need to realize that gorgerous gear is not in how flashy it is but how well it fulfills the fatasy of the class you play. No, that is just your subjective opinion on the subject. Some people like overly flashy items, others do not. Some people target a very specific visual style for their character while others aim to stack as many effects as possible. An extensive options menu which lets players customize what kinds of items and item effects are displayed on their screen is the best solution for most players.
  6. > @"Fenom.9457" said: > They force you in the sense that there is no alternative legendary amulet. If there was, I’d gladly shut up and go get that one. And yes, I know you can make the version without visuals without tournament wins. So you are quite literally criticizing the fact that you need 20 wins in tournament matches so your character gets to have a little portal bubble floating next to them? > But visuals are the main point of legendaries! Originally, they were meant to be the only reason someone would get a legendary, they were supposed to be high end cosmetic choices that would not give a gameplay advantage. So before you tell me “just make the slumbering version”, remember it was anets own vision that teaches us legendaries are most valued for their visual appearance. That was indeed what legendaries once were. I actually happen to prefer that design, but I can't deny that Arenanet has since iterated what a legendary item is supposed to be. They are now offering a QoL benefit and there are people who acquire them for that reason. > And in this way, ArenaNet has **not** provided an alternative to date, nor given us any reason to believe one is inbound. That has been the norm for legendaries for some time now.
  7. When the suggestion starts off with the assumption that DRMs are being received positively I have to wonder where the author got their information from. In a game where Fractals, Raids and Strike Missions are not successful enough to see consistent support, OP's idea would be dead on arrival. > @"radda.8920" said: > The pvp has hardly evolved in 9 long years, never seen it before and it is absolutely not arena's fault When the developers tried to evolve sPvP they came up with stuff like Minstrel bunker Chrono and Stronghold, how are they not responsible for that?
  8. > @"Firebeard.1746" said: > I, in no way want Scholar's nerfed, I just want there to be more options, especially for people with trust issues XD. All of the situations mentioned here are not status quo, most of the time, on a zerker's set, you want Scholar, I'm fine that there's edge cases, but it's not like there's a real choice, if you're being optimal, for most power builds, the option is basically scholar's. Can you elaborate on how these alternatives to scholar runes should function? Do you want to see more rune sets with power and ferocity as well as some sort of conditional damage modifier? Should runes with power and precision or precision and ferocity simply give more of those stats? Is the profession you are playing supposed to influence which runes are among the more optimal choices?
  9. > @"AgentMoore.9453" said: > You're saying raids, in their entirety, were purposefully made for a small amount of players? To me, that seems _unlikely_. That's a **lot** of effort for a niche. Pretty much, yes. Think how the introduction of the "Mordrem" enemies in LWS 2 or the open world content on the release of HoT were received by the general playerbase. For both of those examples the developers ended up nerfing the content to make it more fitting for the majority of players. Given that they had this knowledge, how could they expect raid content to appeal to the general playerbase? Though if you want further clarification from me I need to know how you define "a small amount of players." > If you ask me, ArenaNet wanted more people to be raiding, and their explanation of strike missions was 'look guys! a ramp to help you get into raiding!!'. When that didn't work, they switched over to Dragon Response Missions and Sunqua Peak (the upper level fractal) as additional ways of trying to get people into more 'challenging end-game content'. I agree, they wanted, and probably still want, more people to play raid content. But I wrote that I believe they expected few people to play raids, not that they wanted only a few people playing raids. Ah yes, strike missions, the side project of the Icebrood Saga for which we do not know if it is finished, discontinued or still being worked on. Did they get people to play raids? I don't know. In fairness, Sunqua Peak has a CM so it should qualify as 'challenging end-game content' and Dragon Response Missions seem to have replaced the Story Missions. > I think they had every expectation that far more people would raid than the amount that actually do, and they're doing all the wrong things to try and make it happen. Well, the developers can't simply update the bulk of their playerbase to be interested in raid content, though if they had that power they would likely increase gemstore sales instead.
  10. I don't expect this one to be made any easier than it is now, considering that they decreased the difficulty once already and it was possible to get gold prior to the nerf. From the wiki: "The timer has been increased with 15 seconds with the April 19th, 2016 update."
  11. > @"Camniel.7238" said: > It's called a narrowed down topic. I only wanted to focus on one concern and that concern was story continuity. All the rest can be figured out later but if a race muddles the story it needs to be thrown out or reimagined. It's sad that no one can actually talk about a presented topic and stay focused on that topic. I'm not saying there aren't other issues, I'm saying those associated questions are for a different discussion. But of course everyone else has to be rude and tell me off like I'm some kind of idiot when they simply are refusing to have a polite discussion on the question asked. Introducing the Revenant as a new profession caused continuity issues for the story, so I would not say that that alone is enough for Arenanet to throw out a potenital new playable species.
  12. > @"AgentMoore.9453" said: > > Which is a pretty big issue. > > If raids are unattractive to a large swath of players (which is why devs admitted they're not going to make any more for a while - we'll see if this changes with EoD), they should be trying to make raids more attractive. If they can't (or won't) do that, they should offer some other PvE path that ends with the same thing (Legendary Armor). > > Right now, you don't just need LI to get the armor, but you also need to complete a series of tasks within each raid which.. well.. that's not happening if you're not raiding to begin with. You could potentially remedy that by making a second collection that isn't raid-related (expanding the content that provides the reward) **or** you could make raids more attractive to more people (expand the audience of the content that provides the reward). > > I happen to think adding different modes of difficulty to raids (with scaling rewards) would be a much more sensible way to resolve the whole thing. Zoop through your legendary journey quickly on harder modes, or take your time on more relenting modes - I wager you'd see less threads like this one. I am pretty sure you are going to win that wager. Apart from that though, you are missing the point. Perfected Envoy Armor and Coalescence are designed to be rewards exclusive to raid content, so of course people who do not play that content cannot get them. Same as Transcendence for ranked PvP, Aurora for LW Season 3, Vision for LW Season 4 and Conflux for WvW. And I doubt that the developers made raid content with the expectation that it would become one of the game's main pillars. They were likely aware that it is niche content and only serves to fill a gap in the game's assortment of content.
  13. > @"Messenger.7450" said: > Agree with you. The other ones aren't that hard to do, or at least as hard as Snowden Drift's. It's so different, and as LS content it should **not** require raid level expertise to be done with Challenge Mode on. And what is the correct level of challenge for LS content with CM activated?
  14. > @"AgentMoore.9453" said: > If they're not going to add different difficulty modes (with scaling rewards) to raids, then I'm 100% in support of adding LI and LD as rewards in other areas of the game. Maybe it'd take longer to get them, maybe you'd have to collect legendary shards or something to craft each LI/LD, but at least you could work at it while playing content that's more within your reach. > > Either expand the audience of the content that provides the reward, or expand the content that provides the reward; that's my view. What portion of the playerbase would be interested in collecting crafting materials for the sake of collection? As Firebeard has already mentioned, LI and LD would not allow anyone who is not playing raids to create legendaries anyway.

And my earlier statement should not suggest that non-elite spec revenant builds are a great idea, both herald and renegade are pretty much guaranteed to be upgrades over core rev.
  16. > @"Ayrilana.1396" said: > Oh I forgot about that. I thought they were referring to https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ancient_Echo since the one you mentioned is used for heal renegade. Do people actually run heal renegade? I have not seen one of those in over a year. Heal firebrands seem to be everywhere though.
  17. > @"Hannelore.8153" said: > This is the key point I was trying to make earlier. Its not just that two classes in the game can give Alacrity, its that only two specialisations (subclasses) can give it, which means that the overall amount of classes that provide Alacrity is a whopping 7%. I understand why people would forget about core Revenant's ability to buff alacrity, since no one seems to use it, but it does indeed exist.
  18. > @"Redfeather.6401" said: > Ascended runes would be cool if each rune counted as 2 runes. Then you can mix/match with exotics until you slowly get all ascended. And it means you can now mix 2 full sets on a build! Why do you want to see more power creep introduced into the game?

  22. > @"Veprovina.4876" said: > Lol, i love the Raider contrarian attitude on this forums. Glad that you are enjoying yourself, I guess? I am not a raider though. > Every time someone writes a forum poston not being allowed into raids because they don't have the meta build and want to play their own build raiders are like *"You're so entitled if you think we're here to carry you, meta builds are here for a reason, you do the work on the golem, you practice that rotation and don't expect a handout, play the snowcrows build!"*. There are players who will demand that other players play certain builds, especially in pug groups, where there are inherently more unknown variables at play. There are also players who will play with people who run non-meta builds. > But as soon as someone like me says that there's like 1 build or so that's meta and for Raids there's always the obligatory contrary youtube video "proving" otherwise like *"meta is not the only build allowed in raids, see this video it's possible, raids are doable with all the builds"*. So there's more builds now? There have always been multiple builds, but sure, let's say there are a lot more builds now then there were in the past. And what is it supposed to mean when you say someone like you is saying it? Who are you and why does that matter here? You did not say that there is like one build or so that is meta, you said that there is just one build that is successful at defeating a boss. The first statement makes sense, the second one does not and yes, that video is evidence in that regard. Is that a problem or why did you put "proving" in quotations? > Are you telling me that all the people that complained how they're not getting into raids unless they run the approved meta build are full of kitten and all the raiders that enforce that don't exist? I mean, what are you arguing exactly? I was arguing that you cannot have been serious when you made that statement, because it is obviously not true. Now I am going to argue that raiders do not have a monopoly on who gets to play raid content. They cannot report a group for having players using non-meta builds and get them banned from the game. In your words: "All the people that complained how they're not getting into raids unless they run the approved meta build" could have started their own community. > I don't know what to tell you, lol! You can tell me why you think that content with a timer would be as challenging as the same content without a timer. > Pick a side and stick with it. It's either meta builds because enrage timers and no one else can join cause "we won't carry", or everyone is welcome and can get a pug raiding squad started and join with whoever, whenever. No thanks, both sides get some things wrong and some things right. I will stick with the middle ground.
  23. This topic is somewhat weird. The opening statement claims most stat sets serve no purpose in any game mode, yet the current sPvP meta is using seven different amulets in total. In addition, the claim that Berserker is best in slot for most cases is something that might hold up in PvE, so this probably isn't about multiple game modes. The proposed solution is actually more imbalanced than the current state of the game. The argument that a stat conversion trait which would give a character 100% of their thoughness as a bonus to power could lead to greater build diversity is just plain false. In fact, a power damage build would not run zero thoughness if the remaning traits in that specialization were at least decent. It would effectively mean that a Valkyrie build would be outperformed in damage output and survivability by a Soldier build, which is actually a problem since it makes one stat set truly useless. maddoctor gave a similar example earlier with the comparsion of Sinister and Viper, as long as you can pick Viper the existence of Sinister is pointless, as it is always inferior to Viper. That is something I would want to see changed, but certainly not by giving some professions traits which increase their condition damage by 100% of their precision. > @"Blood Red Arachnid.2493" said: > I can make a strong case that Marauder is actually the best set in the game, because it has 90% of the damage of Berserker with 6,330 additional health on top. You won't end up doing worse overall by going with tankier gear. That is certainly true, though Marauder is likely going to be edged out by Trailblazer. The combination of effective health and damage potential on that one is just plain unfair. > @"Veprovina.4876" said: > A lot of people would probably be more open towards raids if there wasn't a timer on doing them and just 1 build that is succesful at defeating a boss. There is just one build that can beat a raid boss? Surely you were being hyperbolic when you posted that. The Keep Construct boss has a reputation for encouraging power damage builds with strong burst and yet you can beat it like this: > The content wouldn't be any less challenging if you can finish a boss whenever without a timer telling you when you failed, you'd still need to learn the mechanics if you want to do it and not take a week fighting one boss, there would still be skill involved, just a lot less toxicity and more build variety. Imagine a boss that has five abilities which it uses against players. Further assume that there is a Thief on a glass cannon build fighting that boss. Let us say that four out of the five boss abilities will put that Thief into downed state if he or she gets hit by them, even at full HP. Compare that to a Thief who is running a full Celestial build and who will be downed by only two of the boss attacks. Now consider an elementalist with a Nomad build, only one of the five boss abilities with put them into downed state should they get hit. The party essentially has infinite time to fight the boss. How do you know that beating such a boss would not be more or less challenging depening on the survivability of the builds which you bring into that fight? > @"Hannelore.8153" said: > This is of course excepting the support builds like Nomad's, which were meant to be carried by other players in exchange for heals. With major toughness, minor vitality and minor healing power Nomad is better classified as a sustain or survivability focused set.
  24. > @"Firebeard.1746" said: > And you think I'd magically be better with an inferior weapon? The player isn't changing between the weapon type. The whole point of this was a comparison between ranged vs. melee. But I love that not following the conversation you're getting tons of likes for dragging me through the mud. That's such constructive conversation. Which is hilarious because everyone here is acting so arrogant about these encounters, but their advice doesn't even match the CM mechanics, there's a hell of a lot more than "just dodge" which has been featured at least twice as the solution to running melee. Decent =/= master. You're twisting my words to embarass me. 20k+ is acceptable DPS in many raid encounters. I'm saying I can pull my weight as a raider, not that I'm super proficient. It's crazy I have to spell this kitten out for you guys, like you can't math the average DPS on a boss and see that'd work. Which both of these things in context are hilarious. It's obvious the skill level of some of the snobs here is non-existent if they can't intelligently explain how they're dealing with mechanics, but I'm open about my skill level and get mocked and a "like" pileup on it when it's entirely irrelevant to the conversation. I know that I can't convince you that I am being honest, but I will post it anyway: You are reading quite a bit into my post which I didn't intend to say. I simply noticed that you consider yourself to "know power Chrono decently well" (which was a point you made in support of one of your arguments) while also hitting just over 50% on golem benchmarks. And this might just be my subjective interpretation of "decently well", but it doesn't seem to fit with what you reported as your performance. My suggestion, in it's entirety, is merely that your advice that "more people need to be running as close to pure ranged DPS as possible" should be taken with a grain of salt, given the fact that there objectively are elements in this game which you clearly haven't mastered yet. But since you ended up raising a few points I will adress them: No, I dont think anyone would magically get better at anything. Sometimes a player gets better performance out of an objectively weaker build, because the best build overwhelms them mechanically, which build they end up playing is up to them. In regards to ranged vs melee: You go melee as long as the encounter's mechanics allow and switch to ranged when melee is not an option. I consider that approach to be functional in all the DRMs. If a player can't make melee combat work then they can either practice or try exclusively ranged combat. Perhaps the people who agreed with my post did so because of what I stated about guardian not being the top profession? (Additionally: Two counts of "Thumps Up" and zero counts of "Helpful" is not an accurate example of "tons of likes".) I didn't say that you aren't pulling your weight or that you can't clear raid encounters. Some players rate the performance of DPS based on "is it enough to kill the boss?" and some players rate DPS based on "how close is it to the maximum amount?". The people who don't struggle with the content might very well be capable of explaining how they do it, they simply choose to not do it. But I understand why you would prefer that they can't. For the builds which I am currently playing I can benchmark 80% to 85% of the snowcrows value, depening on the build. And if someone who manages 95% decides to mock me for my lack of performance, they are free to do so. > On a somewhat unrelated note, I'm seeing lots of complaints about the difficulty on these, even from more seasoned people than me in my guild's discord (that actually raid and try to hit the benchmarks). I have come across a number of complaints as well. One of them claimed that Snowden Drifts DRM was impossible to do on 3/3 CM even for players that usually clear raid content. Personally I failed that one twice before I managed to get it on my third attempt, which means that it was easier for me than Sunqua Peak CM. Long story short: I think that a lot of players slip into hyperbole when providing feedback for new content, especially when that feedback is provided on release day after playing the new content once. > Guardians are meta for providing quickness in almost any raid encounter, they're meta in fractals, they're meta in DRMs, they're a top class in PVP and WvW. I didn't consider sPvP and WvW since this is a thread about DRMs on the "Fractals/ Dungeons/ Strike Missions/ Raids" subforum, but I am going to agree that guardian is a top profession in general. Furthermore I agree that Firebrand tends to the best choice when you are looking for a build to buff group quickness. I will still disagree that "guardian is basically the top profession right now", as calling it the top profession means that it is the single profession to stand at the top and that is simply not the case. > And you know what? I'd like to see other DPS classes similarly buffed (or provide utility that bringing another chrono isn't worth it), I agree, stacking chronos shouldn't be a thing. Personally I would prefer to see the outliers at the top come down, as opposed to buffing everything else up. And if stacking a squad with a single build is optimal for one or maybe two encounters I am fine with that, I just don't want to see that be the general compostion for most of the PvE content.
  25. > @"Lorenzo.9146" said: > If you cannot use it anywhere in endgame basically, what is the point to have it at all? If you could use in endgame content, would the developers design the content expecting every player in the party to use shadow menders?
