  1. This was a really great video. I have only tried to pick up FA Ele a few times but I am so bad at it. Editing was really great and effective without being overly excessive too.
  2. Too lazy to get out of bed this morning, so here are my thoughts in no particular order: Guardian: I would like to see a total rework to Firebrand tomes so there isn't such a huge skill bloat offered for just one elite spec, and would then like to see the espec rebalanced. Burn Guard's trait synergy combined with skills like SoJ is such an abhorrent cancer that I would love to see nuked from orbit. It could use some buffs to make it a more well-rounded condi class, it just does what it does *way* too well. Revenant: Jalis is too strong now, but I am not sure how the best way to nerf it would be. Condi Rev is horribly oppressive in small-scale and needs some nerfs along with a total rework to Tormenting Runes. True Nature - Demon needs to be reevaluated. Ventari could use some reworks: bubble uptime is stupid cheese but its overall ability to support is rather poor and impractical. Hammer is both very oppressive in its tiny niche and absolutely horrible otherwise; I'm in the camp of reworking it at this point. Shortbow is low effort with high reward. My main class so I could write a whole lot more here. Ranger: Dolyak Stance needs to have its damage reduction removed. Ancient Seeds should just be straight up reworked. Druid could see some overall buffs to its support potential (mostly making staff and CA1/2 slightly more practical). Self prot uptime potential is arguably problematic. Otherwise eh, I think the class is relatively fine. Strong roamer with effective snipe builds. If I had my way I would like to see arcing on *all* projectile skills removed, but that is moreso just bias speaking and is most noticeable with Ranger longbow's inherent long range. Thief: IMO Shadow Arts is probably the most standout problem with the class. Stealth uptime is far too high. I also think Swipe being unblockable is a mistake; would like to see it given 900 range with unblockable removed. Dash is arguably too much value for its investment, but I am not a Thief player so cannot really comment too deeply on this. Beyond the stealth cheese, the class seems a bit undertuned. Downed Deadeyes should automatically spawn siege blueprints on top of them and cause all enemies within 240 units to jump repeatedly. Elementalist: Core needs big love for sure. Weaver IMO is fine. Tempest's ability to disrupt small-scale fights is pretty insane. Honestly the biggest thing for me would be to restore the old aura icons so it is easier to differentiate them. Magnetic and Shocking aura *need* to be instantly discernible in any scale of fight, and the icons were the best way of recognizing this. Otherwise, support Tempest's potential to survive is probably overtuned, but not really sure if in need of nerfs. #JustMinstrelThings Warrior: Oh dear, I am not really sure how to approach this one. The class is clearly one of the weaker ones right now, but Full Counter still stands out as overtuned and propping up the class more than it should. Core feels too weak and Berserker is absolutely *horribly* designed and needs a rework to not be such a one-trick pony gimmick. There are weapons that still stand out as dated (offhand mace, offhand sword, longbow come to mind). Buff core War in a way that makes the class more viable without returning it to pre-balance patch stancemonkey Defense builds. Mesmer: Class is generally suffering right now, but Mirage Cloak is still inherently broken at its core. Reevaluate Mirage Cloak and restore Mirage's second dodge. Power Mes is a one trick pony that is nothing without its burst. Clones die insanely easily in the game mode. Continuum Split is a questionable design choice considering its potential impact, but at the very least requires finesse to pull off. Invuln uptime potential (mostly for Signet Inspirarion Mirage builds) is way too high even with just one dodge, but shouldn't be looked at before the class in general gets some buffs. Honestly the class seems really badly balanced in general. Heart goes out to you all, unless you main condi Mirage. Engineer: Core, like Ele, is undertuned and needs some big love. Purity of Purpose should be restricted to self-only. Scrapper Support feels too easy to play, if that makes sense. Scrapper's damage-to-barrier mechanic is pretty broken for power builds in terms of WvW. Explosive Entrance/Flashbang and Nades are all overtuned, but even with all of that, core is still C-tier. Not much else to say. Necro: I wish support Scourge was more of a thing, but the spec has received so many nerfs because its design is so unhealthy for the game mode. I would like to see quickness uptime on Reaper's Onslaught brought down. Shroud uptime is probably overtuned on some builds, but not really sure it needs to be addressed in the context of WvW. The class needs some of its boon-hate restored. Not sure what else to say here.
  3. Generally Rev has pretty clear animations, but True Nature really stands out for me as needing a clearer tell considering its potential impact.
  4. Still waiting for support/Ventari Rev buffs for WvW, but beyond that I think the class is terrific and generally has a lot more build diversity in PvP/WvW than I believe it ever has.
  5. I would say having a 100% chance of ripping stab (and interrupting if traited) is a pretty "nice thing," and has the potential to swing fights a whole lot more than stealing 25 stacks of might goes. That perk alone is *huge*. However, I do think that ANet (CMC) totally overdid the general nerf to boonripping skills (not unique to Thief) and that BT should be reverted to 3 in PvP/WvW. A bit off topic, but as long as boon reapplication remains as excessive as it still is in WvW(especially with traits like Purity of Purpose), the level of boonripping should be restored to pre-patch levels on *most* skills in the game.

I have been playing around with such a build lately and I have been having a blast on it, even if just for the stupid novelty of roaming with Ventari again. I like to run around unmounted solo with the tablet following me around to see how many people I can bait to fight me. It has actually been surprisingly effective and I have won many outnumbered fights with it in the short amount of time I have played it. Why? Well Mallyx and Tormenting runes on top of tanky stats are all hard carries. I also think people expect a free kill when they see Ventari so don't actually know how to fight it since it is so uncommon. I actually love fighting Soulbeasts with it because I can kitten their longbow with a ridiculously long-lasting bubble and strip their precious rolling stability. You have really great condi management between transfers, Ventari, and cleansing sigil, and while you are vulnerable to CC in Ventari, the blind spam and knockback spam can really help counteract that. Surely you don't have the damage potential of a dedicated condi Rev, but you can still rip people apart with how much you can spam Mallyx skills between Charged Mists and Ancient Echo. > > > > > > > > Here is the build if you are interested. I didn't really try to min max or super-theorycraft anything since i had to just roll with the gear I already had available to me, so my stat combos aren't the holy grail. Kinda wish I played Ventari pre patch to experience it myself. I'm also kinda sucking for each rev roamer I play to be unique (which is why I didn't pair other legends and why I prefer running kalla instead of shiro with jalis for power renegade). I got myself accustomed with Ventari as well though, by trying to make a core healer build with jalis and ventari. > > Ultimately, the build is a copy to yours, with only difference being I got apothecary weapons and trinkets (plaugedoctor backpiece), which are exotic and I used maguuma lily gems to upgrade them. runes nd sigils the same. can't wait to test it with my guildies. I imagine that ventari will bring some interesting teamplay in smallscale as well, so it's not a very selfish build if anything. Wrong Shiverpeaks then! Heh. Pre-patch roaming was still a total meme as Ventari, but the outgoing healing for allies was insane. It got nerfed haaaaard with very little compensation, to the point that I can put out much higher hps on my Druid than on my Heal Rev. IMO they overnerfed it for WvW, as healing was kinda its only thing. But I digress, still a sour point for me lol. Best of luck to you! Just know it ain't some magical secret build. I tend to like it more than just a pure healer build in small skirmishes because it can be nice to have actual offensive impact when stuck with limp-dps pugs. If you are running with friends, you can easily swap out a trait or more in Salvation to give your heals greater value.

  9. > @"Gotejjeken.1267" said: > Also, I loathe duels in WvW--it makes things too confusing. I see players fighting, and jump in--get yelled at that I interrupted a duel. If I see players fighting and ride by--I get yelled at for not helping my server out. The worst is, trying to determine what to do and getting ganked in the process; as it's pretty hard to type 'duel?' and wait for a response while in multi-enemy territory (because everyone duels to the south for some reason). Yeah, WvW is just like that. There really isn't any set of rules in place, so everybody has their own sense of "morality," and everybody has their own interpretation of others' actions that are easy to personalize and hyperbolize when not in their favor. At the end of the day, that's part of what I like about WvW, you don't really have any obligation to play the content in any sort of way. I have gotten yelled at countless times by teammates for not helping out, but there are plenty of reasons I may intentionally not help out: I am chatting with a friend and am only half-playing the game, I know the enemy and don't want to kill them, it looks like it could be a duel, I want to see how the fight ends out, etc. On the other hand, sometimes I am hyper aggressive and will (attempt to) gank most enemies I come across because I am in the mood to fight, I am trying to hone my skill, or maybe I'm just bored. It is mostly not a personal thing, but when you are the one who isn't benefitting from somebody's action (or lack thereof), it is easy for it to feel that way. Not to say that I am above it by any means--I do like a little BM--but I would say that BM and other forms of "toxicity" almost always feel more toxic than they are actually intended. Sometimes they are though, and it is nice to screenshot those cute whispers of somebody threatening your life IRL as they block you so you can't respond.
  10. As a Rev main, I would wholeheartedly recommend the class. Really, the only role it is really lacking legit viability in is support, but most dps builds still offer great secondary support (passive boons with Glint, AoE resistance through Mallyx, stab/damage reduction through Jalis), so even as a selfish build you will still be helping out your teammates. Kalla doesn't really serve much of a role in the context of WvW beyond dueling or really small scale, and Ventari doesn't feel worth the effort since the big balance patch, but beyond that the class feels really great. However, Necro is a also very popular WvW class and for good reason. It still suffers the same weaknesses as it used to, although I'd argue that the big balance patch made these issues less glaring (with the help of things such as speed runes as well). I don't have enough hours to really say claim any expertise on the class, but i think you'd be happy with either class.
  11. OMG while we are on the topic, I absolutely abhor the change they made to staff 5's energy consumption time. It will do an energy check before you use the skill, but won't actually consume the energy until around when you start to surge. It is horrible. So many times I have screwed myself over because I'll toggle an upkeep after pressing staff 5 in order to proc Charged Mists, and if it goes under the energy requirement it will *cancel* the skill. This never happened before the skill got hard-cucked.
  12. > @"Yasai.3549" said: > > @"Sobx.1758" said: > > > ...no, it shouldn't. You make a choice of traits depending on what you want to do. What you've just said is true for all traits, because you actually "need to sacrifice a trait option for it, so lets make every trait passive I guess". Just because someone wants to passively have access to *whatever* doesn't mean it's an argument to make it that way. You build for a role? Then trait for it. You don't want to trait for it, because you don't think it's worth your choice? Then don't. But then don't say that it somehow should be there all the time, because that's not the case. That's not only true for rev, that's true for the whole trait system. > > The power level of the trait is just ridiculously weak compared to similar traits which ARE minors. > Ele's Elemental Attunement minor from Arcane line is essentially the same deal, but on a minor slot. > > Invocation's Major Master has 1 pretty strong trait and that is Incensed Response, Rapid Flow which is decent on Core, and then Spirit Boon which is used only on Non-Herald Support builds, which don't even affect it that much, because it's just a boon on a 20s cooldown. > > I've already mentioned many times that Spirit Boon needs to be made a Minor and have a stronger trait taking up the Master slot. > > Or if anything, move Spirit Boon from Master to Adept tier, swapping with Glaring Resolve. > Spirit Boon on Master is just a dead slot which is used only if the other two options are unviable, which in 80% of builds, are always picked cos they are stronger than Spirit Boon. > > **TLDR : Spirit Boon's pick rate as a Master tier trait is nearly 0 because of how inherently weak it is, in all content.** > IMO Spirit Boon is actually a really good trait. I wouldnt say that is true about it having a 0 pick rate. I see it used plenty on condi Heralds in WvW, and I imagine it is a strong pick in PvP with Traveler or Lynx Runes. I will take it for core condi builds in WvW if I am running with somebody who has group swiftness access. I would say that Incensed Response heavily overshadowed it in WvW prior to its nerf, but now that it is toned way down (thank god), the tier is pretty competitive. IMO the only weak boon for Spirit Boon is Shiro's since it is only 2 stacks, but it is fantastic in Mallyx, Jalis, and Glint. I have suggested it become a minor too (moreso from the perspective of having to dedicate all minors to fury in a largely utility line when playing as a support), but even more, I would like for its radius to be extended to 300 or 360 so it can be used more reliably for allies. Especially for the regen, as it is core's only access to the boon since Dwayna runes were reworked. Same could be said for Ventari's Song of the Mists.
  13. > @"Dadnir.5038" said: > I'd say Herald just lack a source of regen for when he is not using the legendary dragon stance. How about adding 4-5s of regen on _envoy of exuberance_? It would be cool to have regen on EoE, but the base class needs access to it more, whether it be through Ventari, Salvation, or staff.
  14. IMO the skill is balanced with its current design in mind and it should stay as is. Even at 40e the skill is very strong. The risk of being poorly positioned at the time of a stun is part of the counterplay to the skill. Just as an example, being stunned with your back facing an enemy group means you are put in a more precarious position than if you had the option of rolling forward away from the group. With options like about about-face, you still have the option of using the skill as a mobility tool in a sufficiently fluid way. Having a bit of a skill cap for it is a good thing. If they changed it to your suggestion, I am sure they would wanna bump up the energy cost to 45 or 50, and we have already ventured too far down that path with Rev.
  15. One of my earliest WvW experiences I remember is being corrected on /map chat by multiple people for linking different spots for callouts instead of using the general NC/SWC/etc. format. I was prob about rank 10 at the time, but it was a constructive sort of thing that I adapted to quickly. Another was getting sieged for the first time while solo roaming as a noob Ranger, and quickly learning the art of BM. Went to the dark side pretty fast there. My first exposure to WvW was actually Noble Soul's medic Thief videos, but unfortunately by the time I started playing WvW, the rez system had already changed by then. Way back in the era of Planetside 1, I played a cloaker medic/hacker, so this was my total dream.
  16. I know I can be a bit of a snowflake at times, but my fav build to run in open world PvE across all classes is on core: Shiro/Mallyx with Viper's/Grieving stats and Ret 1/3/3, Invo 1/3/2, Corr 1/1/1 with mace/axe and staff. I really like being able to run Ret for sustain along with the increased energy flow from Ancient Echo and the mobility from Shiro. Tormenting Runes, Steadfast Rejuvenation, and nearly perma weakness all equate to really great sustain. If you do your rotation correctly you can have Ancient Echo up on every Mallyx swap. You miss out on some damage and might uptime, but I suppose it depends on what your priorities are in a build and how much that matters to you. For me, the build hits that perfect mix of high effectiveness and being a total blast to play.
  17. > @"K THEN.5162" said: > The roaming meta is the play cheese or get cheesed. Honestly this. > @"kamikharzeeh.8016" said: > the solo roaming meta is basically: getting ganked by 2-3 other roamers on thieves, rangers, revs etc And this.
  18. > @"Yasai.3549" said: > Mallyx Shiro Renegade. Honestly nothing is more fun than this legend combo. I still am accustomed to running mine on core, but nothing beats the pure enjoyment of playing these two legends on a condi build. I can't ever get myself to run Mallyx/Glint because it feels so much more dull.
  19. Bad fights. Boonball groups. Deadeyes. Immob spam. Minstrel stats. Honestly alliances aren't too huge of a deal to me and there's part of me that'll be really sad to see that day come because I like playing with so many of my servermates who are all mostly in different guilds. But hey, if it leads to better fights, I'd be happy. I do care about balance, but as long as I can play a build that I enjoy that I don't feel is 100% dogkitten, I am generally happy.
  20. Soulbeast can be very oppressive, but as @"LetoII.3782" mentioned, almost every class has this option in at least one form. It sucks to get SIc 'Em memed just like it sucks to get oneshot in general. Getting oneshot by a Sic 'Em Soulbeast feels about as bad as getting oneshot by a Deadeye or a core Mes because the time frame to react and save yourself is very low if they play their cards correctly. Still though, I don't really think the Sic 'Em meme should be nerfed further simply because it is highly neutered in any larger scale combat that isn't just a cloud of pugs. It has its niche but fight a group with a magnetic aura spam Tempest and it won't feel so powerful. IMO the only problematic thing left about Soulbeast is Dolyak Stance. The skill is extremely stacked, especially for just a 30s cooldown. It should have never received a damage/condi damage reduction component to it, simple as that.
  21. Lootbags would be nice but honestly I don't really care about them. The single biggest QoL for me when I play support would be to be able to see non-partied/squadded healthbars. When I play, I am either solo or in a small party like 95% of the time, and it gets a bit tiring and inefficient having to constantly mouse over players to observe their health, trying not to waste my heals.
  22. > @"Stand The Wall.6987" said: > i wish instead of increasing the energy cost on the legend they removed the endurance regen and quickness. why the hell did they buff it in the first place... Well it's not really that simple. * Endurance regen has always been on Riposting Shadows. The skill has been nerfed: endurance regen reduced, energy cost increased. * Quickness on Phase Traversal was added because they removed quickness (and superspeed) from Impossible Odds. In some ways this was a buff, in other ways it was a nerf. Personally I wish they never changed this because I think quickness on a 1200 range port is a bad idea, but now that they keep increasing the energy costs on skills and they removed the stunbreak on legendswap, I think it is fine because the windows for punishing the Rev are much higher and the big balance patch forced Revs to be much more intentional with how they spend their energy (at least for Herald when in Shiro). I believe they removed quickness from IO in order to make it more attractive in PvE. I have thousands of hours playing the class, but I try to be as honest as possible when it comes to overperforming aspects of the class. Honestly though, I think Shiro specifically is fine. It is at a healthy power level now and doesn't need buffs or nerfs.
  23. This was a nice watch. I have spent minimal time on Engi because I never enjoyed the theme of the class, but the more I watch core Engi gameplay with kit management, the more it appeals to me. I would like to try a build like this in WvW but the lack of mobility is the big deterring factor for me.
  24. > @"LucianTheAngelic.7054" said: > > @"Za Shaloc.3908" said: > > * Transform traits that alter (or completely change) the function of skills. Due to Rev's rather restrictive legend system and limited weapon repertoire, I think this would benefit the support potential a ton. Would 10/10 be okay and happy with something like this > > > * More of a personal wish, but I'd like to see a wee bit of synergy within Corruption & Retribution to give them a touch bit more group support (ex: Fiendish Tenacity no longer grants resistance on swap but instead causes *all* resistance you apply to heal (meaning it heals allies, and Versed in Stone to apply AoE stab (with a 45s CD) on elite skill usage. Mallyx and Jalis are really great as-is IMO, but incentivizing taking Corruption for better support in Mallyx, for example, would be pretty cool for the core class). > > Hard disagree on Fiendish Tenacity for a couple of reasons: > 1) it’s a solid trait for condi revs and is fairly vital to effective condi mitigation. I wouldn’t want Rev to lose that. > 2) Mallyx doesn’t apply long enough duration Resistance to allies to make use of an extra regen effect, unless it was jacked up to insanely high healing levels, which it likely won’t be. So in essence you’d lose a bunch of self resistance for extremely minimal extra healing output for a support build that probably isn’t taking Mallyx anyway. Not a good trade off > Yeah, I think it is important for me to remember the perspective I speak from. I am almost always playing Charged Mists and core on my condi builds, so the amount of resistance uptime I can get is obscene, but on a Herald build it is significantly lower. At the same time, Herald has the option of running offhand shield for better condi management, and they have Mallyx F2 as a guaranteed clear even with no enemies (IIRC). The reason I thought it would be an okay change is that there is overlap with Spirit Boon to provide a double dip of resistance upon swapping to Mallyx, which IMO is a bit of an odd design choice. However you still bring up a good point, and FT allows for more flexibility for legend choices since it is not dependent upon Mallyx. Additionally I dont play sPvP where energy costs are more expensive and there is scarce boon duration. If I am playing a Minstrel build using Mallyx (don't laugh pls ;-;) I can pump out really solid group resistance uptime to allies, so that was part of my thought process behind it. Glad you like the other ideas though. It would be really nice to have the weapons feel more legitimate in their support-ability.
