  1. mmm stopped when they released all desert before. returned when they returned alpine. stopped when wife got pregnant and son was born, played again when son is secured. casually leading my guild.

wvw used to be the beast, now, its so so. no incentive to do better except by us who try hard. such a wasted mode.

    > * WvW is getting increasingly hostile to new players. Not many people are willing to teach new players of how things work in WvW, the do's and don'ts. Mistakes in plays are slammed by veterans often. I got my build ridiculed by this diamond ranked commander tag, despite me not being able to afford meta gears at that time. A friend of mine got so turned off by his servermates' ridicule, that he said he will never make another legendary weapon/armor/trinkets, since those are the only reasons he would even do WvW. It got better during the Warclaw's debut, but only for a while.

    > * You can make a lot of friends and acquaintances in WvW, even more so than PvE. Close guildmates, and just the regulars that you see around and have a chat with, while you get your behind rammed by 50+ man 4 guilds zergs.

    > * WvW lately being fun only when said friends and acquaintances are around. But when they're there, even the worst situations are made bearable. And the occasional breaks and lucky hits are cause for awesome celebration.

    > * I did kinda learn to play better, thanks to those who took their time to teach newbie me. These kind souls are getting rarer lately, but they're the star players in my book. And those skills transfer to PvE too, yay!

    > * Clear communication is important, as with good stress management. It's a stressful game mode after all. I'd like to believe I'm better in both aspects than I was last year.

    > In all, many ups and downs. I rarely play WvW now except during guild raids, but it's still an enjoyable time, despite the stress and the broken-ness of it. Here's hoping I can get to 2000 sometime next year, or at least 1600 for just the footwear :p

the general rule of wvw is to zerg. outside of that, is hard. so, i hope you find good friends to wvw with. i myself feel hard to lead when those around me dont follow. is not easy. but when you got your guildmates, it makes the difference.

i hope you get your legendary

    >

    >

it fits to suggest the server with most activity and then doing interviews of the server way of doing things.

i.e. do you guys have a zerg at x time? is it in coms? do they accept meta wvw or anything?

the op should choose ask atleast 3, then choose the best that fits him.

choosing the second best option is ok but if the best option is open, then he should choose the best. the best option will be full soon enough and others will simply have to choose the others.

wvw is not about even nos. its abought having the minimum population to make it fun to fight back.

if ppl want even fights, join my friday in house team v team. that is even numbers with a decent com and with rules. no capping but fighting.

outside of that, you have the zerg v zerg and wvw mechanics

    ---

    decent comp i.e is this

quick brand alacrity jalis rev cleanse heal scrapper cc boon strip spell breaker corrupt scourge. this is a very fine tuned composition of 5 and is the base of all team killers. it is extremely fine tuned. use it now before it gets nerfed.

having been on the otherside of a blob. no, it is not bandwagon mentality, but being able to fight against many.

leading 7 to 15 vs 35+, it is less aggravating too. you see these nos. not zerging with you that you know if they did, it will be a 1 push win.

it is not bandwagon. it is not taking it easy. it simply is the mode many v many

    > Last year I set up 5 or 6 of these weekly brawls in both custom arenas and guild hall. It was usually 8v8-10v10s and open to players from any guild or server. One thing you need to keep in mind is that because there are no rewards, these sort of events only appeal to folks that are close to you, e.g., friends/guildies, players that want to try something new (will only show up once or twice before losing interest), and the "killer" player personality archetype. It's really difficult to grow these sort of homebrew events unless there's something truly compelling about the actual gameplay experience.

    >

    > Unfortunately with current PvE balance (heavily overtuned warrior builds), rigidity of the meta (doing your own thing is suicide for your team), and a general pessimism towards anything competitive on NA (de-legitimizing competition means your guild isn't threatened by it), it's really hard stuff. I recommend finding someone you trust to regularly drive for the other team, striving for even fights and swapping members every X number of rounds, and doing whatever it takes to reduce downtime between rounds (including limiting class swapping).

yes. it is not easy even from my guys >3< we plan to use the draft method so all can experience being on each others side and not be a premade team. thanks for your input :3

    > I can totally see the comments on this post being totally enjoyable to read but Anet please decide on something to do with edge of the mist (eotm) right now it's just a glorified gathering map (I literally run there once a day for the rich nodes another nodes) there's so much missed potential with this and honestly you killed the map added an arena and called it quits like that's such a waste of a map that is arguably better designed than the 1 dimensional Alpine bls and Eternal battlegrounds but hey im just ranting on what is a poorly used map like edge was a thriving map sure people used it to level but that made it fun running around on uplevels in a Zerg not having to worry about elitism and just the ability to have fun I understand that leveling new toons wasn't your main intention of the map but you really killed the map and now it's honestly a waste I'd love to see ANY kind of usefulness/life brought back to the map it's not even a good overflow map because very few servers actually queue every map my time in T2 was "kitten everything is queued let's go red BL" idk just thought I'd throw that out there

eotm was killing wvw prior to pips. was supposedly an overflow map. but they should have observed the trend and capitalized on it more.

    now its dead.

it is. i dont care what ppl say, its fun to have your own blob. less pressure and ppl can do more.

my guys who are few get burned out fast fighting 2 to 3 x our numbers and when our comp is whack if our scrap goes offline or etc. no chance to win :/.

anet needs to pay special attention to this.

most what we can do if blob we face is, just let it be taken.
