  3. Nah, you don't need "pve timing" in pvp. You're not just slapping mobs there.

Sooo... that's literally what you said. :D Inb4 "stop defending broken specs!" -I'm not defending anything, just stop saying you didn't say something that you literally said. :grimace:

  6. Nothing needs hp buffs, honestly. Lobbying for buffs for the sake of fulfilling some symmetry fetish while it's not needed at all is just silly.
  7. Taking away options just because you think nothing other than optimal choices should remain in the game is a bit weird imo. Not only that, but you can mix and match different stat pieces. >AND THAT'S STILL NOT META. Nobody cares. Well... At least nobody should care. > @"Nezuralli.2794" said: > I'm not a new player, I spend more time in that build editor than I do playing the game. But that's terrible advice for a new player. They don't know what they don't know and so can't look for it just by browsing the wiki. The game should do the bare minimum to teach players and ease them into it. Cool. And were you a new player? Because I was and I don't remember being overwhelmed by all the stat options available -I looked into it, picked what I wanted and played. If your *hypothetical new player* is so confused about what to build and they're not interested in using their own brain then there's plenty of sites, resources and people that can (and do) help. What's that with people feeling the need to speak for every new player's experience? ...also what do you mean they don't know what they don't know? They know what they're confused by. They know what options are problematic for them to pick from. That's enough to search for answers or "look for it just by browsing the wiki".

At the same time it has some utility/support/boons to provide some help in case of your squad's deficiencies? If none of that is desirable for you then why do you even want to play power herald? Like, what exactly is the reason of you wanting to specifically play power herald out of rev (or even other class choices) choices and lobby for it to be power dps equal with other less flexible pure power dps builds? > > > > I'm not so sure current power herald dps is unreasonably low. > > > > > > Anet doesn’t balance off of easiness of rotation, or else Weaver would be unequivocally top DPS. Now if you understand this fact, then you also shouldn't have a problem with understanding that they don't balance off of top of the dps charts of certain builds. But it seems you do and that's exactly what keeps being brought up here whether you directly call it this way or not. > > That's not true, they also balance based off "the top of the dps charts" as well. I've provided evidence and statements that prove this from Anet themselves in one of my previous posts in this thread. There are dozens more examples out there and plenty of interviews with Anet developers expressing their intentions on how they balance the game. Overperforming and Underperforming DPS and Support specs are targeted for changes based on their overall representation in the current meta as well as their dps and support thresholds, both high and low. There is so much evidence and direct confirmation from Anet that this is how they balance *in addition to thematic balancing as well* that it should be clear to anyone paying half an iota of attention over the past 8 years that yes, they do balance based on performance. How is this not true? Nowhere have I said that the top dps builds are somehow immune to balance changes, which is what you seem to be arguing here. But those top dps charts are not the line of usability that make or break the build and the builds in general are not balanced around those top builds. Overperforming and underperforming builds can be balanced and it still doesn't mean they're somehow "balanced around top dps charts", because they're not. If anything, they're balanced around the *vague line* that raid encounters draw by themselves (and maybe the instances where the build does too much of everything), not around top performing builds. Speaking of your, uh, cheeky "*should be clear to anyone paying half an iota of attention*", maybe you should *pay attention what you're answering to*, because I said "they don't balance around top dps chart builds" (because they don't), while you try to argue against me apparently saying "they don't balance based on performance at all", which is nowhere near to what I wrote. **If you think making a callback to "balance changes being applied to something overperforming" somehow disproves what I've said, then it's a clear misunderstanding on your part.** > > > While 28-30k sounds like a lot > > > > Sounds like a lot and for the balance of this game's pve it is a lot. > > > > No, it's actually low when compared to the balance of this game's PvE. Just because it's possible to literally clear much of the content with a Minstrel Tank (as long as that encounter doesn't have some sort of weird fail mechanic) doesn't mean that the rest of the game should just sit in a state of imbalance between classes with large gaps in effectiveness that aren't consistent across classes or with what each class offers No, it's not low considering what you need to complete the raids. While I've never seen the reason to try that myself (because that's pretty random and unnecessarily increases the time of making a full squad), pretty sure you can literally clear all/most of the raids by just literally having full party of power heralds in power dps slots in a comfortable time window, so not sure why you're trying to hit me with those "minstrel deeps could do it" sarcastic responses, which aren't even near to what we're talking about here. So... yeah, for pve balance it is pretty high, whether you like it or not. > > >it also lacks high Burst damage, which is the entire point of Power damage as a whole. > > > > "it's the entire point" (according to you, not anet?), but it's actually not needed at all to ahve those bursty phases. So you might think it is the entire point, but it is not. > > > > No, not just according to me. Developers at Anet have specifically said that the intention of power damage is supposed to be about burst and upfront damage. So this isn't about what I think, but about what Anet thinks. One is over time, the other isn't, so it's kind of obvious which is "up front" and is supposed to be "more bursty" and which is not. Which doesn't change anything about that was said here and doesn't make a build not viable because it has lower short term burst. And did they specifically say that about raids? > > >So you end up in a situation where the class has low power burst and low power sustain. At that point it’s almost always better or equivalent to just run a condi dps (I.e. Renegade) or a different class entirely since it doesn’t even fulfill the role that power damage is supposed to fill in a reasonable manner. > > > > So just do it. What's your point again? You're allowed to run whatever you want. Both are enough. Something being better is irrelevant. And yes, it does fulfill that role in a reasonable manner, not sure why you'd try to claim otherwise. > > It fulfills it in a reasonable manner according to you. However, I don't think it does and it doesn't fall into my criteria of what I would call reasonable or balanced. It's very clearly unbalanced when looking at the entire context of the game. And it's not just Herald either; there are several other specs that have been languishing behind for ages as well. Reason-ability is clearly not something we'll agree on since it's inherently subjective and the standards we're applying are vastly different. My standards aren't even that high either Nah, it fulfills it in a reasonable manner according to the level of "difficulty" set by raid encounters. It's not meta, but it's EASLY reasonable for the raiding content. You don't think it does because you compare them to top builds dps, buty that's not what they're balanced around, so who cares. > > > So no, it’s not a reasonable DPS nor is it a reasonable support. > > > > Yes, it does and it does. Not meta, but easly reasonable. Time to learn the difference if that's what you want to use as an argument. > > > > Nope, it's still 15-20% behind other classes' power DPS specs and one of the worst supports. This isn't reasonable in context unless the standards being applied are incredibly low It's not meta, but it's easly reasonable for the content gw2 provides. Time to learn the difference if that's what you want to use as an argument. > > > Why do I personally want power Herald to perform better? I believe classes should operate within a reasonable range of each other. I don’t consider the current divide between some specs as reasonable. I also enjoy Herald thematically and mechanically and don’t want to feel punished by the game for choosing the class I enjoy. Herald clearly has design aspects of both power and support, but still fails to provide either of them meaningfully. I also never said I need it to be equal to other classes, but I would like for it to operate within a closer range. The current range is too large. > > > > What exactly is so "thematically and mechanically" enjoyable regarding the herald that other rev/ren builds don't have? It's irrelevant to the discussion at hand and I don't need random people to tell me what I should or shouldn't enjoy within my chosen class  Ok, keep dodging because it's such a "huge rabbit hole", that's totally the reason here.

The point was (and still is): yes, *that site* is pretty useful for determining which build is easier to play by yourself. > Looked it up now, and i don't see it, the only condi soulbeast build i see is the Dagger+torch/Axe+dagger one. Whatever the build is currently featured there, what I wrote is still true with literal "use x off cd after y" in its description. Which makes it extremely easy to memorize the ""rotation"". I'm not sure, do you understand the point I was making there or...? (and still make, because it remained true)

How easy the rotation is is sometimes mentioned, but usually it isn't, there's also no comparison of "easiness" of different rotations anywhere there. > Hint: you can't just look at the number of steps the rotation has, there's a lot of other factors to consider as well, and snowcrows site is not exactly all that helpful in that regard (mostly because it's not something they concern themselves with). Pretty sure it is pretty helpful at that, read the descriptions and the rotation. See how many steps there are and what is mentioned about those rotations/builds in the descriptions (not only on the top of the site, but also on the right side of the rotations). There are some that just mention "*prioritize x skills before y skills, always try using this skill before that OR that*" (afair, that's an example from rangers condi rotation) and that's your "rotation". If that's not a direct hint at rotation being easy to memorize simply by looking what's "off cd right now" then I don't know what is. You even mention that you can see how many steps there are in the rotation but still claim the site isn't that helpful with figuring out what's easier? Yes, it is, the player just needs to understand what they read. Seems pretty easy. > > @"Sobx.1758" said: > > That's not what I've meant at all. In truth it wasn't any better that the "anti-sheep" one at all. No, it wasn't. I wasn't trying to tell OP what he *needs* to play. But he's asking about the builds, I'm not going to do the legwork for him, especially when someone (linked site) already did that for all of us. Meanwhile "the sheep guy" answered with what? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. If you think morokey's answer ("woah, using someone's build, sheep!") was the equivalent of me delivering a site with builds with literal list of their rotation then LOL, what are you even trying to argue here? :D e: oh look, you even mention sb build with literally what is written on the site I've linked to. Snowcrows SO not helpful in regards of figuring out easy rotations! Hilarious how you disprove your own claim in the very same post.

Show me what you did and I'll tell you what you did wrong so you can improve :) > @"Fat Disgrace.4275" said: > > @"Svarty.8019" said: > > > @"Sobx.1758" said: > > > > @"Svarty.8019" said: > > > > > @"Caedmon.6798" said: > > > > > > @"Svarty.8019" said: > > > > > > We've all got stories about battles we've had. Yup, so he lost because of misplays combined with bad decision making and then tries to use it as an argument for nerfs. *I wonder why* he won't include any footage of his, but just refer to his oversimiplified stories where he's never at fault, but everyone/everything else is. ...or do you think that your "one runs toward one deadeye, loses 1v1, 2-3 other defenders run to another DE, who disengages, so *for some reason* they panic, get sniped, decide to chase instead of actually defending" was a perfectly reasonable scenario after which one can make the claim of "having to abandon OUR camp because of 2 DEs"? Because if that's what you think, then I have to repeat: I hope you have some recording of that, because it's hilarious. "*totally had to abandon out camp to chase and get picked off one by one while we panic!*", oof. >basically the dmg nerfs that happened hit them and rangers the least of all classes. lmao.

I think it's pretty cool that the thief can move to areas that others can't and the game doesn't need to be in total balance on everything. Why are you asking for *materials* about someone's claim when YOUR claim in the post they just answered to didn't contain any? Also yeah, your claim that "only very few classes can solo it" is just false.

Classes don't need to change because players create problems for themselves that they have solutions to fix themselves as well. If you decide to make performance your criteria for playing the game ... that's on you since that is automatically going to restrict builds that are available to you because of those criteria you are using to make those choices. That's not a problem Anet needs to fix or should even consider fixing because the game isn't designed to be played ONLY with builds that meet those criteria. > > This is still, weeks later, a reductive argument that essentially boils down to "Anet shouldn't balance anything ever because there are currently options for players for all playstyle routes." It's still not actually a helpful or meaningful argument for class balance in GW2 PvE Yeah, sure and the argument that "it constantly gets kicked *[it doesn't]* because it's not meta, so we need to buff it" is perfectly reasonable and doesn't boil down to a FoTM builds changing with every patch. Because surely all of the builds should be meta or should be buffed, right? It's pretty similar to that "it doesn't have x boon" (or can't upkeep it 24/7, whichever that was), so lets add it to some skill/weapon, so it can be kept longer and easier. Also lets slap a unique group buff because it doesn't have one [but it does, just not *as meta as rev's another espec*] and absolutely needs one, because that's totally the rule and makes perfect sense, while not being a bait for randomized buffs by... well, the exact same person that now made the above claim about *needing buffs because not meta*.

In my experience at least 3 out of 5 groups. And how does it change what I said? You just try to bend the facts to bait some buffs. And I'm sure you're having a nice spreadsheet for your 3/5 claim here and it's not skewed by your bias to just conveniently say "see, it's more than half!"

Because *one of these is not like the others*.
