  1. I replied to this post on Oct 24 that I'd recently had 2 ascended drops in WvW. Got another this past weekend. And again, not spending a bunch of time there. I killed a guard and completed a "land claim" daily, so either a chest from the potion or the guard dropped a ring, not sure which.
  2. Huh. I looked at that recently, saw that it did not show which ones I had already found, and pushed it off to later. "Later" being some unknown time in the future when I have nothing better to do.

I agree that there ought to be an option to disable other players' effects which would not lessen the video quality of the environment for enjoyment. Agreed. And what happens with new version of GW or NVidia? Gotta keep tweaking things? I try to avoid such things. Did a boss last night for the daily in Elon Riverlands. I only hoped I was placing my AoE's on it, really had no idea much of the time.
  4. If people don't log in, then Anet can't brag about the number of players in-game...oh, wait. Yeah, I don't see an online store as deterring people. If anything, they could make $$$ off people who are NOT logging in. How is that bad? I'm talking about the OP's suggestion, not a mobile app that would do potentially more. Example: I'm a "one game at a time" kinda guy, and right now it is GW2. I still receive notifications from Path of Exile that items I picked are now on sale in their version of the gem store. It hasn't enticed me to buy them or to log into that game, but if I was active in that game, I would undoubtedly do both.
  5. I find it useful enough to keep it in a shared slot. When I log on, it lets me connect with another family member instantly, and most often is ready for the next time I want to use it. I don't regret buying it.
  6. If they could also let players flag an item, which would then send out an alert when it returned to the shop, that'd be an even bigger win. Perhaps there's a page that displays all the items not currently in stock?

  9. 3rd is from Cooking 500. Contact support to see if they will refund. I'm surprised it can be bought if you already own two, most things don't let you.
  10. So then you are not proposing a WvW + PvP only expansion then. In that case, yes, I would buy it. If it truly was WvW/PvP (not sure what that would look like), then no.
  11. > @"Danikat.8537" said: > ... you've only got two kinds of players - free players and ones who have access to everything... Minor correction: Three types of players: Those who bought the base game but no expansions. Which is largely the same as FTP, but without any of its restrictions. I do go into WvW with my core-only alt accounts.
  12. So are you saying all those benefits would be wvw/pvp only? Cuz you're muddying the water by adding skills, weapons, traits, etc into the mix.
  13. How do we know how many new players join the game? If they are trying out the game as free-to-play, they can't communicate in map chat, and chat is quite limited overall. You'd have to see their toons in the starter zones. And I do see some, but have no way to quantify them. The forums certainly don't represent the game population. I'm the only one in my family (5 people playing) that frequents the forums. That's just anecdotal, but I think a good representation of forum users. How many just lurk and never post? Not that the game is without issues. @"Astralporing.1957" did a good job laying out some problems. But you know what? My brother and daughter are the most recent in my family to join, and they are blissfully unaware of any of those points. I told my daughter a new living world chapter is coming out next week, and she said, "A what?" All the stuff discussed here has zero affect on new players, unless they are perhaps MMO-jumpers and spend a ton of time reading up before jumping into a game. My family will be playing a long time before any of those "issues" come to light, thus making them non-issues to them.
  14. I bought the game, both expansions, and buy gems with real money. I'm fairly certain I am their target audience. Whatever that means in a game like this.
  15. Both are good, but I'm a fan of "platinum hair" so have to choose the left.
  16. "I suppose if you have the laurels to burn, you could socket expertise in the infusion slots" Note that you can get "+5 /+1% vs guards" to slot in WvW instead. Visit WvW laurel merchant to check prices.
  17. I wasn't suggesting a scepter. The OP wanted to use one. "Just use full dire or get some trailblazer for burn duration." + "With cele armor the OP will already have enough sustain to stay in melee facetank range for general pve." So can't she use whatever she wants, since general pve is faceroll anyway? Which is it, gotta use the best weapons, or pve is too easy?
  18. Oh, no, I'm sorry. You shouldn't spend 2 gold to try out a build to learn for yourself if it works or not. You should only follow builds exactly that are on snowcrows, metabattle, et al.
  19. Understood. But you're talking about adding something that core professions can use, then using masteries as the means to acquire it. Thus someone with a core-only account would be excluded. Eh, doesn't matter, Anet's method of adding weapons is elites.
