why surge of the mists literally CC you 9 times

It's not alone, to mention a few:

It's not correct however, since there is an internal cooldown of 0,75 seconds of each removed stack. This means a skill has to last 0,75×2= 1,5 seconds to remove 2 stacks (source:https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stability).

Since Surge of the mists last 1 second, it can therefore only remove 1 stack of stability. The only chance it can remove 2 is of the rev runs the Brutality trait and it procs on the first cc - this way they can remove another stack in one attack (which is the traits aim). This won't cc you though, chances are they ripped boons right before using staff 5 or one of your stacks ran out during it.

Not quite right since the first stack is removed at time zero and the second stack is at .75sec not 1.5 leaving a quarter second to land one more hit for cc. Thing is this only works if the Rev is immobilized or the target is standing against the wall otherwise the Rev will just pass through them only landing maybe 5 hits at best and will not remove slthe second stack of stab. I would say landing a full 9 hit sotm is harder than landing any other skill in the game currently due to the extremely precise positioning requirement yet there's almost no incentive to since it does no damage and the cc doesn't last long enough for you to land any significant follow-up. The skill is only good for the evade or interrupting skills with long rooted casts like stomps and meteor shower, its a poster child for dumbing down gameplay and lowering skill cap in my opinion.

it can, i popped rampage for stomp, dude surge of the mists and CC'ed my stomp.

also there's rev that CC'ed me right after the moment i stunbreaked in the same surge of the mist.

either your info is wrong or it's bugged.

also none of the skill you listed can strip 2 stack stab and interrupt your stomp.

SoTm is actually one of the most well designed CCs in the game in that it has an extremely obvious animation, requires aim, has a cast time, etc.

It CCs you a multiple times as a tradeoff for how hard it is to land. If you get CCd the maximum number of times it means you ate a skill dead-on that happens to be one of the few abilities in the game that can be realistically avoided by **walking out of the way**. It's so slow you don't even need to waste a dodge on it, legit just walk out of the way lmao.

nop, stunbreaking it should get you out of CC. one skill shouldn't be stun locking you right after you stunbreaked and by right after i mean, i wasnt even allowed to dodge. grave well you can dodge out after stunbreak.

If Revenant runs Brutality, it can remove 2 stacks if the attack used is a CC.

This is the same thing with Lich Form, but Staff 5 can CC one without Brutality though because the skill is a multi-CC. Remove the only one stack and there's nothing protecting afterwards.

Is learning to walk in the right direction too hard for you?

It's a double edged sword.

Sometimes anet lets you port through walls with no pathing check.

Sometimes your targeted spells miss because your opponent decided to hold in any direction.

You take the good with the bad with this class :^)

They've actually fixed the path checking though, it's pretty good while I can still port through all my cheesy spots.

There is a cc bug going around though, not just from sotm. I was dueling a thief in wvw for 3 hours and half the time I stun broke out of slight of hand daze, it failed failed and would still be on a 2 sec cool down on all skills. This is with multiple stun breaks, I tried balance stance, shake it off, feline grace"... 50% of the time it would break out of daze. It's either a bug or I must of missed notes saying you have an x % chance to break daze.

It could be something as simple as a sigil of Revocation proc (in rampage you get stab reapplied every 3 sec, this would remove both stacks) or he just used Banish Enchantment or Shiro's True Nature before attacking with staff. Even just landing Forced Engagement into SoTM - which is a super common combo - would be enough to remove all your stab in the 3 second window.

And btw all the skills I listed can cc you 3 times or more, enough for 2 stab rips and a cc.

My info is that of the wiki which is thoroughly tested, this was just clever play from the revenants side. You can rest assured you didn't get cc'ed solely by him pressing 5, it required either another setup skill or having the sigil/trait specifically to counter your build.

Next time throw a boulder at him and then stomp (since his only stunbreak on shiro will port him away and he can't reach you in time because staff is melee oriented). Using stab for safe stomps has not been viable since PoF.

Yeah I alredy covered that it theoretically can hit twice. But you are right, it kinda had to be against a wall or something.

I don't like it's current iteration either, it was fun to fight against when it's dmg would swing the duel if you couldn't anticipate it.

You are calling the slowest skillshot in the entire game braindead.

See, this is why you should always actually play a class and understand it before complaining about it. It's very clear you have never played a staff revenant in any competent capacity. If you did, you would realize that you are complaining about one of the most easily countered abilities in PvP. Again, it is so slow you don't even need to use anything. You can just WASD around it. You don't need to even waste an evade, nor any block skill, or anything at all.

You.

Can.

Just.

Walk.

Out.

Of.

The.

Way.

No you cant just walk, everytime someone says you can walk out of the way is totally wrong, now running/dodging you can but when select the "walk" button you are at chilled speed. Show me how to just "walk" out of the way of stuff.

On a srs note, even how slow it is people still wont dodge it, I guess they need to play it and get that skill/animation planted in your brain.

I don't understand how other builds work = THEY'RE BRAINDEAD

This is probably the type of commentary Anet listens to lol. Explains how we got here.
